[EMAIL] from Sandra Brown, HR @ TT

The reply to my inquiry:

Sandra Brown, Director of Human Resources to me
More options 1:00pm (2 minutes ago)

Thank you for your interest in working with Tomorrow's Talk Studios. We are proud to be a union studio, and all applicants for production positions must be union members.

Currently, we have no production or administrative opportunities available, but that may change after our new show, Urban Hunt, has been cast. If you have submitted (or wish to submit) a resume, it will remain on file for six months, and I will contact you if a suitable position becomes available.

For information about casting for all TT Studios productions, please contact our Talent Coordinator, Lisa Roman.

Should you require personal or further assistance, please call Tomorrow's Talk at 718-250-4171.

Sandra Brown
Director of Human Resources
Tomorrow's Talk Studios

I fired off an e-mail to HR in an attempt to get the name pf the webpage designer:

Quote:
Ms./Mrs. Brown,

Greetings!

My name is xxxxxxxx, and I've just been accepted as one of you're newest "online advisors" for the exciting new project, "Urban Hunt". I'm thrilled to be part of the team, and as such would like very much to be able to chronicle my small role in the way best suited for an online advisor: Via a webpage. This leads me to my reason for this e-mail. I am extremely impressed by the quality of your company's website, and would like to inquire about the name and/or availibily of it's designer for contact. Any help you could give on this matter would be greatly appreciated, and I look forward to not only hearing from you but to assisting in what looks to be a thrilled new chapter in the world of reality television.

Sincerely,
xxxxxxxx

And got the A-R as shown above. Probably means a phone call tomorrow.

edited to UPDATE

Just recieved this, maybe 20 minutes after my call to TT to inquire about the designer:
Quote:
Dear Mr. Six:

Thank you for choosing to participate in the online component of our new reality
show, Urban Hunt!

You are welcome to chronicle any adventures you may have on your personal
webspace. However, the Tomorrow's Talk and Urban Hunt websites were not
designed by an outside firm. We have an in-house tech department which is not
available for outside projects.

Sorry I could not be of assistance in this matter.

Sincerely,
Sandra Brown
Director of Human Resources
Tomorrow's Talk Studios

Blast it all. I wasted my bubblyspeak for naught.

To summarize I asked for information about the previous employee who designed the website and the answer Ms. Brown gave was to site privacy issues so.......no info.

Here is my email exchange with Ms. Brown.

Email I sent:

Quote:
Dear Ms. Brown,

I recently applied for a position as an "Online Advisor" for your new
show Urban Hunt. As I was looking over the website for Tomorrow's
Talk I realized that your web page design is quite unique. I
understand from Ron Daubert the current webmaster that the design came
from a previous employee. As I am currently looking for someone to
design a web page for me, I'm hoping you can give me contact
information for the previous designer. Thank you in advance for your
help.

Sincerely,

Enaxor

Ms. Brown's reply:
Quote:
Dear Enaxor:

I'm sorry, but due to privacy concerns we are unable to release information
about former employees without their written consent. I hope you understand.

Sincerely,
Sandra Brown
Director of Human Resources
Tomorrow's Talk Studios

My reply:

Quote:
Dear Ms. Brown,

Thank you so much for your prompt response. I do understand the
privacy issues that you site, but is there anyway that you could
obtain the written permission you need from your former employee? The
project I have in mind for this designer could be quite lucrative and
could further their career substantially.

Sincerely,

Enaxor

Well your e-mails seemd pretty professional, so well done.

I've got a little thing to ask of everyone though...

When you send an e-mail, sign it under a real-sounding name.

Use a made-up name, but make it seem real, as in first name and last name.

It just takes away from your credibility when you use your handle.

Tha'ts all.

My thoughts on this were always that the PMs will probably respect issues of privacy if we wish not to reveal our info and would probably understand if we just wanted to go by our handle. I mean, they know it's a game so they can make exceptions in how immersed we are. Plus, if for some reason they need to identify an email with, say, one of our unfiction posts, they could do it. So I just sign it "dishboy". That's just my two cents - other opinions?

Watcher --

For privacy reasons, I believe most people replace their 'real' name with their handle before posting the emails onto this public forum anyone could be reading.

At least, I know I plan on doing so.

Oh I think I was misunderstood.

I'm not saying people should use their REAL names, I'm saying you should use a fake name that looks like a human name.

i.e. There was some post around here where somebody identified himself as Peter Parker- not his real name (unless he's Spider-Man), but it sounds real.

Just makes you sound more credible, and adds to the immersion. Everybody make up a fake name for their character! Smile

Since we applied to be Online Advisors for a reality game show, this is a 'game' that is taking place in the real world and with 'real people'. Players can choose to use a fake name or a real name.

It seems this 'game' may be best played as a real person and there is no need to create a 'character' by each player. However, that is not set in stone and you are free to do so if you can keep it plausible (i.e. the real characters in the game think that this world is real and their experiences are real, so to them TINAG).

That said, I think most everyone here knows that for in-game interaction, I use a "Heather Hunter" and have set up email accounts just for this name - it helps me keep my game info separate from real life email and such. But I am still myself - a person interested in participating in/on a Reality TV show.

btw: TINAG = This is not a game

I haven't had a problem using my real name yet, however I have a false company name in which I work under. The name of the company is Dynamix. The receptionists seem to be asking more and more questions. The first time i called they simply gave me an answer, but the ast time i called they asked for a name, a number and a company name... x_X I had to think up something lick-ity split... hence Dynamix is what I came up with. Feel freee to use it. I've been role playing to an extent for years, so to me, this isn't a game, I'm trying to immerse myself as much as possible

*out of game* Dynamix

Hey Blush - Dynamix is (was?) already a company. I put *was?* in because I think they went out of business. They helped make one of the sweetest games ever - Tribes 2. Just thought you'd like to know Very Happy

When I google it, I see that Dynamix is also a porn site. LOL.

But it is a very nice generic corporate name.

well actually the name of the company that my Mother owns is called Dynamic. I didn't want to use the exact thing, so I said Dynamix. I've heard of a lot of campanies by that name, so i figured that giving it to them could give them limitless possisbilities. I think I'm going to give them another call, see if I can stir up some trouble.

[EDIT] Just called again on my cell phone. A female receptionist picked up . I asked for Sandra brown and when she said she wasn't in, I coped her a bit of attitude. I believe I said something like. "Well myself and my fellow associates have called sandra several times over the last few days. I would love to be able to talk to her personally, however it doesn't seem like I can do that." Up to this point she hadn't studdered, but this time she did. She put me through to her VM.... and get this.... it was full. You know how much it takes for a VM inbox to fill up? It's safe to say now, that the people at TT haven't been getting our voice mail messages, or any messages of any sort. After it beeped at me a few times, The receptionist picked up the phone again, and stuttering heavily asked if she could take a message personally. I told her that the message was urgent, and even if it wasn't Sandra who called me back, I wanted to talk to someone. This was a new one "Can I ask what your call is pretaining to?"

Hmm... they have a new line added to their script. my answer was. "Oh I need to ask a few questions pertaining to some research my company is doing for Tomorrow's talk" She took down my message "I believe" and then hung up the phone... This company seems Iron clad... no calls going in... no calls coming out.

hmm...A VM filling up? If TT is supposed to be the serious company they provide the facade for, that would not happen. We've already accepted that there might be something fishy about them, but this is definitly dodgy!

Hmm...have we tried to reach someone that doesn't work for the company at all, and see if the receptionists hang on that line. If they aren't to sure about the names, maybe they will fake a fault and direct us to the wrong VM, thereby proving that they're an answering service?
