Got my copy today. Hooray for postal media mail shipping! Wink

So what's up with the picture on page 63?

- It was obviously composed on a computer and therefore could not have been composed by Ann Starling.

- It's labeled "Artwork_from an anonymous patient at Cambridge Mental Hospital". The underscore may be a typo, but it may be deliberate, as well.

- The crying girl reminds me of the "old woman/young girl" optical illusion.

- The fact that the tears don't fall straight down is reminiscent of a stereotypical treasure map with a dotted line leading to the X marking the spot, or in this case, the rings in the puddle.

Anyone else have any ideas or observations?

Solve for the following poem on http://www.deadpoems.com/index-2.html which is also on page 81 of the Dead Poems book. (Inspiration sparked by dmax saying that the phrasing of the poem was weird. Then he ping timed out).
Quote:
victims aren't we all
no hope we share
twice damned
voicing words not my own
between these worlds
against the broken
shards of empty dreams
all adrift through
rivers of time
i seek a light a
sign to guide me home a
beacon in the dark
at last i think excitedly
theres nothing after life
i hail the void of death

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
take the 1st character of the 1st line, 2nd character of the 2nd line, etc. gives "voices of the dead" (spaces added for clarity).

I love that poem. The dead only think they're headed towards merciful oblivion. They're actually heading towards an eternity of writing bad poetry.

Just a bump for the thread to remind us that there is still something unsolved. What message was Ann Starling trying to send to the outside world?

Here is the fragments page for more info from Reed.
And hints/messages from other "readers" as posted by Reed.
