I am planning to get this one as it is a few blocks from my house.

I really wish they had more eastside axons and not so many downtown. I can't get downtown until the weekend again. But if they had any more in redmond or bellevue, I'd be all over it.

trigeminal 11:29

Report from trigeminal, 11:29 PDT. AXON HOT.

Phone was inside the Best Buy on Watson Rd. in Crestwood, MO (StL). I was heading to my car to drive out there, when I ran into two friends. They had never heard of ILB, but I told them I was going on an adventure, and that they were coming with me. Of course they agreed (who would prefer the alternative, to stay at work?), and we were off.

When we got there, another BKer was already there. I didn't get his name, but he had already scouted and tested the phone, so he gets primary credit for this axon. The call went through as per usual, but I didn't have a tape recorder and couldn't get down too many details of the .wav:

Two young men were in an apartment I think, and the cops (or military, or whatever) busted in and arrested/searched them. The cop was saying "Hands on your head!" and "Hands off the chatter!". They had apparently traced an illegal node of the chatternet to that location. (Something about a CP Firm? Not sure about the word Firm.) When asked, one of the young men said his name was (sounded like) "Ed Monte", and I apologize if this is wrong, or an obvious reference that I don't know of.

Most interestingly, at the end of the clip, the other guy being arrested was quickly saying the names of the cranial nerves. For those wondering about that and the word 'Trigeminal', see this thread:
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6164

Specifically, he was quickly saying "olfactory, optic, oculomotor..", as if trying to get this information across to someone or into the chatternet before the cops stopped him.

That's all I remember. Look for a follow-up post in the above Trigeminal thread, with some info and spec about the cranial nerves.

[Yay, neuroscience!]

Wasn't that my point? That we have lost a lot of folks who were picking up axons before?

Like I said, yes and no. I think we still have the people, I just don't think we have them in place. Give it a day or two.

That's looking less likely all the time. We have yet to unlock a single axon set today.

0/19.

11:49 axon

I went to the 11:49 axon in portland. it was apparently the same phone that was hit last time. A girl (Shelly?) answered it but unfortunatly it did not go hot. She repeated Melissa several times but in the end the AI giggled at her and said "No" and then launched into the i love bees chant. We know that this phone works as it activated the axon last time.

Question: Is the Melissa not the one that is calling this axon? to my knowledge Melissa has not giggled at anyone yet. she dosent seem like the giggliy type. Could the Sleeping Princess be calling?

I will try this one again tomarrow.

I went to where I believed the 11:39 axon to be, found a payphone inside an IHOP, but the phone never rang. Tested it with my cellphone to make sure it could recieve calls, and it rang, so it was obviously not that phone...there were about 6 other restaurants within a 100 yard radius which probably have phones inside them or just outside them.

I'll probably try going on thursday with a friend or two to see if we can narrow down where the call is being made to.

Creepy: Chicago, 17:47 PST, 41.883449, -87.625002

So, I fouled up the coords, and headed to this site for trigeminal at 11:33 PST.

I reversed the coords through Geocode and got an exact match for 77 E. Randolph, which put it at the Chicago Cultural Center.

Payphone-directory.org lists two banks of phones there, one upstairs and one downstairs. When I headed down there, though, I was curious to find that there was only *1* phone downstairs. The security guard saw me by the phone and came over to tell me that the phone wasn't working right. He said you could only dial 800 numbers. I asked him about the 2 banks of payphones, and he said that they *used* to have more phones, but they had just renovated. After the renovations, they took out all the phones but one.

I'll head back tonight to confirm, but I'm not even sure that the Cultural Center is OPEN after 7 pm CST.

Longmont axons

I have a quick message for all people in Longmont, Colorado or surrounding cities, like Boulder. I was able to hit both locations last time around, but I just moved up to St. Paul, Minnesota for four months, so I'm no good any more. The visa 12:13 axon is inside of Woody's, by the arcade, and the frustrated 11:53 axon is in front of the Walgreens, where there are two phones, and it's the phone on the right. Both phones ring loud and clear. Have fun.

I'd go get the Minneapolis axon, but someone else has already claimed it, and I'd have to take a bus, and that'd just take too damn long.

I see the 8:09 in Factoria/Newport, Washington was missed this morning. I think I should be able to hit that one tomorrow.

Perhaps we should try to figure out the song/songwriter for the song in the_human_heart...perhaps it has a clue in there?

I honestly don't know where to look, but it might be important...hopefully we have some informed jazz lovers here.

Audio from Freelance

Another deaddrop Bees Exclusive: Freelance

We got another one. None of the other axons for codeword Freelance were successful. Deaddrop was on hand today for the exclusive recording of the phone call to the 1:51 axon in Brandon, Florida (27.929223 -82.287542).

The audio turned out pretty horribly, but your can definitely hear what is being said. Aiden is attempting to recruit Kamal for something and he's very hesitant. Aiden asks if it's because of Sophia and calls Sophia on the phone to prove they've reconciled.

The original of the freelance audio is at http://deaddrop.us/pics/freelance.mp3 and I've mirrored it http://ilovebees.brejningelev.dk/upload/freelance.mp3.

He's just driving home the point that his dad, Jason Morelli, is the Castaway (or so it's theorized). His dad loved jazz. His dad also spent long trips placing spy beacons to listen in on the Covenant.

Yay. I guess I got the third and I see we have four.

Just got back from 12:33 in San Diego. Surprisingly, nobody else was there at lunchtime. Not that I minded.

Two things to remember, I guess:

1) As long as Melissa starts playing the clip, you can hang up.
2) Bring at least one quarter in case your phone charges for incoming calls.

Note that these two things are related. *cough* I forgot last week's report and didn't have any change. But it looks like it worked, right?

Next SD spots are up to the rest of you. Next one: 1 hour away.

Hah! This should be fun. This is across the street from the Star of India.
If memory serves, this is very close to Anthony's Fish Grotto. Searching the payphone lists gives two likely sets:

619-238-9232...Anthony's Fish Grotto.........1360 N Harbor Dr...inside*
619-238-9124...Anthony's Fish Grotto.........1360 N Harbor Dr...womens room*

619-531-9806...Cruise Ship Tours.............1140 N Harbor Dr...outside*
619-238-9523...Cruise Ship Tours.............1200 N Harbor Dr...outside*

The problem is that the map indicates otherwise. Anthony's points are south of the marked area. The Cruise Ship Tours spots are even further south. People who wish to hunt this out should know that the exact point is NORTH of Ash St., and on the EAST side of the street, next to the large parking lot across the street from the Star of India.

(EDIT: I remember the Star and cruise ship being SOUTH of Anthony's, which would put those phones in the right spot, but I haven't been there in a while. Feel free to scout around.)
