http://www.theblackforge.net/hivekuts-coords.html has a good list, giving maps as well as information about the general area of the axon.

I'd like to recommend to the Mods that we start a NYC thread - there are 8 axons this round, and by the looks of things, we'll have more next round (assuming, of course, that we'll need to hit 777 of them, which is looking more and more likely)

A lot of my comments are for future reference...

07:15 PDT awful_fast (40.757145 -73.98724): HOT. NY Times building on 43rd St, between 7th & 8th Aves. I was the only one here today Sad It's pretty simple to find - enter the lobby and make an immediate left, there's a little alcove right next to the mail room with 2 phones, it's the first one as you walk in. I've been here twice now, nary a glance from any employees, including security.

10:37 PDT curious_girl (40.75201 -73.981868): HOT. NY Public Library, 40th & 5th. I was the first to show up. I took a little walk around and found 3 fanboys waiting. Two of them were (from vlamidala's post) Eric and Peter, and another guy (who's name I didn't catch) that brought his mom. After the phone call, the security guard started hassling the guy who came with his mom because he was videotaping the whole thing. I boogied, presumably mom took care of it Smile This phone is located on the 2nd floor of the library, right next to the ladies' room in the back. And, I might add, right next to the reading area, this is a really terrible place for a phone Confused Oh, I took a pic for posterity, attached below (yes, I am the world's worst photographer)

13:57 PDT tack_hammer (40.773359 -73.96416): HOT. Whitney Museum, 75th & Madison. Another nail biter, I got there 2 minutes before it rang, and that was with run-walking from the subway. About 20 seconds after I picked up, two fanboys (not Eric & Peter) came running in guns blazing, saw me on the phone, got confused, so I gave 'em the "I got it" signal. They seemed very distressed about missing the call by a matter of seconds Cursing They were cool about it afterwards though. This phone is located downstairs, across from the restrooms. It's the one closest to the ladies room.

So, that's all of the easily accessible NYC axons gotten. 13:23 code_word isn't far from my apartment but I won't have a chance to try it 'til Sunday, and the only other outstanding axon is the 8:01 panic_button up by Columbia. Whee!

It's actually 13:23 standard_procedure, and it's simple. It's a payphone right outside a bodega (I think this is the only NYC axon so far that's been outdoors) which is on the north side of 14th St, about 75 feet away from the NW corner of 14th & 1st. Disregard the GPS coords, they point to the middle of the block, which is wrong.

Oh and you forgot 12:57 code_word, which is six blocks away from 08:01 panic_button (both are in the Columbia U. area)...but 5 hours apart. I may try to hit the earlier one (8:01) tomorrow, if not it'll have to wait until at least Friday. We're gonna need a bigger group for these, as SocialElite says, there's tons of phones around there.

SocialElite, don't give up hope!

Regarding the Axon inside Rubin Hall, I can get it in the next round, since I live in NYU freshman housing Very Happy literally a block away.

Vlamidala, how about we trade? you take fourteenth street, and I'll take tenth. I'll be heading back to fourteenth street tomorrow, since orientation appears to be clear tomorrow. hope to see you there.

Brittany, eh? Wink

I'm happy to hit 14th on Sunday if it's still cold then. I scouted the area a bit on my way home from work yesterday, so I think I know the phone bagsbee is talking about. And if the Columbia-area phones are still being a PITA, I could maybe be persuaded to trek up there Sunday or Monday to help cover a few of them. I could smack myself for choosing this week, of all weeks, to work a zillion hours of overtime. oi.

And actually, that reminds me - where is the phone that was 10:33 curious_girl this time, maps to Greene St & Washington Pl? Is it hiding inside an NYU building too? I really feel like I should know where it is, but I'm coming up blank.

Great job today, guys. Smile Just wish there was more we could do... but I guess that'll probably happen next week, huh?

austin area axons

I'm tempted to check out the downtown Austin axons, specifically the ones after work: 16:31, 17:13, and 17:23. But I really only want to go if there's nobody else going or if you really need my help (talk about dedication! :]).

Anyone know what's up with these? They seem to still be cold.

EDIT: Changed the times to the 24-hour version to remove any confusion.

Anyway, note to locals: San Diego point info is on page 6.

I'm not in San Diego right now, but one of my old roommates is down there and had a go at the Point Loma one. He didn't have any luck. In his words:

Well, no sign of that road at Cabrillo. We drove up and down it 5 times but nothing that wasn't gated off. Unless it's in a grave site, I have no idea what it could be. And like I said, out there, it's all hush hush military installations that nobody is getting near.

Hopefully, some military facility isn't getting strange calls from women asking crew members to identify themselves. Confused Good luck to anyone trying that one, as it's all Navy base past a certain point.

garamir (and everyone else) WHICH AXON ARE YOU REFERRING TO?

Please include identifying information - at least the PDT time and location. People outside your area will not know what the "Point Loma" one is without extra work; you have the info at your fingertips. Keep us informed!

I'm looking for a transcript of the right .wav file. Anyone have one? I can't find one on the wiki, or in the .wav transcripts thread. (Probably 'cause I was the one doing the transcribing until my speakers broke).

Hey, at least you got one in Lincoln. I'm in Omaha, and for some reason, we didn't get any.

Keep at it, though. You and Nhoj Gnol are the only people we've got in Lincoln. We don't want the PMs to think we Nebraskans are useless, do we? Razz

Is there an updated play list for the Wavs that indicates the different storylines and the order to play the wavs?

By the way DorkMaster and Extrasonic. I am one of the lurkers that joined you in Hinsdale, IL on Tuesday.
