I'm going to hit:

tack_hammer 13:55 PDT 38.84246 -77.2803 Fairfax Virginia

... which is about 5 minutes from my office. Anyone else heading to this one?

Can anyone point me to something about what to expect, and what to say at an axon? Thanks in advance.

So there are finally some Las Vegas axons (all of those that say "Paradise" Nevada are along the Las Vegas strip, or nearby); but I'm out of town for two weeks. Have fun, Steve!

What is with all those Albuquerque, New Mexico axons for the same code phrase? That is very unusual. And there are a couple in Seattle that are back to back and so close it is like they are across the street from eachother.

/me goes back into lurk mode

Close locations and times in Charlotte

Charlotte, NC has three locations for the "on_time" message. They are also close in time and locaiton. Maybe Mellisa is trying a shotgun approach. Maybe she noticed her crewmembers taking time off of work and wanted to make a single trip more valuable.

I don't think I can make it today. Again. Sad I have too many errands and then need to put my car in the shop.

If only raining_cops 15:29 PDT wasn't all the way in Nashville... Oh well, at least Mel's getting closer to me... I wonder if perhaps I should email SP and ask her to send some east of there...

Stupid three-hour drives...

Braintree...

I live in Braintree. South Shore Plaza. I'm taking off from work early today, so I'll drop by there and light up an axon.

Yes, there are a great number of payphones in there, but hopefully the GPS coordinates will give me an idea of WHERE in the mall to start looking.

Alderaad, if I fail, your friend has a GPS receiver, right? Maybe later in the week...?

(This better not be in the McDonald's again.)

Does anyone have a list of all of the locations with city and state up yet?

It would save me a lot of time...

Btw, the 7:53 PDT Panic Button is by KCI airport, same phone as the first set of axons.

PA & NY Spots

Ok, I actually have 4 points or so within about an hour drive of me. Unfortunately, I cannot hit any of these until the weekend since I'm not taking off work again (the last bust of a coordinate kinda did it for me). So, unless these points go hot before then, I will start going after them Friday evening and continue during the weekend.

These are all just far enough away to be inconvenient. Sad (Hellooooooo PMs--North Shore????!)

I can probably get to the Manchester one if no one else does, but no guarantees (this is a bad week!)

I found three in the general vicinity of Boston. Manchester is farther away, but still reachable by car if someone wants to make the trip. It's right in the middle of the city. The Braintree location looks to be just off of Route 1, but probably not close to the T. The Brockton location is near route 24, East of 95 and inside the 495 loop. I don't think I can make it to any of these today--too far away from work.

tack_hammer 13:57 PDT 40.77336 -73.9642 New York, New York

For anyone going to tack_hammer 13:57 PDT New York, NY....

This is a repeated Axon, we got it last Wednesday. The phone is inside the Whitney Museum, more specifically downstairs next to the restrooms. The Museum itself is closed on tuesdays, although the restaurant downstairs is open, but only until 4:30pm. The phone is set to ring at 4:57pm local time, which will make it difficult to say the least Confused

The way I see it, you can do one of 3 things:

1) Try to social engineer your way into the building past closing time (hide in the bathroom Laughing )
2) Explain the situation to one of the employees and instruct him/her on what to do when the phone rings Rolling Eyes
3) Wait until tomorrow Bang Head

I can't make it today, but I'll definitely be there tomorrow if you guys can't get it today.

Location: Far Far Away. Nowhere Near You. Really.

So let's think about this

1. We already have credit for the axons we got over the past week. So we don't HAVE to hit the same locations again. Won't affect the x/777 count (I hope! This is a bit of spec.)

2. If we hit NEW axons this week we will increase the x/777 count. But we may also be making more work for ourselves if we have to keep hitting the same axons to keep them alive (if assumption #1 fails).

3. If we need three axons on each clip, the old ones are at least "gimmes" because we know where they are. The problem is getting there on time -- one week of random disappearances from work was too much. It will actually be tough to get the old ones again too. And some schools are starting in the area, so even our younger players will have trouble helping out.

4. Melissa didn't dump all the unsuccessful ones from last week. The ones in Dale City Virginia are still there and still in the same places. Without improved data I will not be recommending the DC crowd go after these.

So I guess it depends what is most important - do we just want the sound clips or are we committed to also getting 777 axons? Because the latter goal will be pretty hard to achieve. I personally plan on defaulting to the least amount of work possible - axons near me in reasonably time frames. I guess we'll find out what it means by next week.
