I understand what you're saying but consider the fact that last time we had
what, seven plus days notice?

Today we only had 4-5 hours notice. Tommorrow will be better.

Technically, we've had a week's notice. Anyone who plays this ARG and didn't expect more Axons this morning hasn't been paying attention. Wink

Confirming Braintree Beekeepers

So I'm on board, along with my brother (Jinieren, for board purposes), his friend, and my friend Zeronine.

My brother is going to scope out the busy intersection by the South Shore Plaza, as we suspect it is not INSIDE the Plaza.

I'm sure that by the time tack_hammer rolls around, people will be coming out of the woodwork to light up axons, so maybe we'll be unnecessary.

Chicago - Downtown

Ok, Chicago-suburbanites! We got two now, baby! Mr. Green We've got a repeat of Monty's at 1:31pm Central Time, and one in Hinsdale (corner of E Hinsdale Ave. and Village Pl.) at 12:53 Central... So, that means we could just make it to both in the same day, or we could delegate... I could make the 12:53 one on my lunch break, but I can't get to the other, unfortunately... Whaddyall think?

By the way, I gotta admit that while he/she seems to rock, I'm getting a little bit of the Single White Female vibe from DM... (calls him/herself DM, posts a list that merged with another list allows us to coordinate and determine who's got what covered and what goes hot, etc...) Just a little creepy... Cool

I can cover:
dude 06:35 PDT 41.88927 -87.6265 (Chicago Loop) tomorrow morning.

creepy 17:47 PDT 41.88345 -87.625 (Chicago Loop) is tougher; can anyone else make that one?

Oh, sure; but, where were you when the phone rang at 11:33 in Cracker Barrel? Eh? Eh?

PLEA FOR HELP FROM FAIRFAX FOLKS!!

OK, I just got back from a scouting expedition, and gere's the deal:

The phone is almost certainly at FAIR CITY MALL/SHOPPING CENTER; Mapquest, Acme, and RandMcNalley all show the coordinates a bit to the West of that, but that is a residential area and there are no payphones there. Across the street from the coordinates is Woodson High School. A block or two to the East is Fair City Mall; Geocode.com check of each location shows that Fair City Mall's coordinates are the closest to those of the Axon.

I found 8 payphones on the West-side of the shopping center (it's quite large), and of those only 3 are accepting incoming calls. They are:

1) Inside Jerry's Subs
2) Outside Wendy's
3) OUtside Safeway

I'll be there, and T-bone is going to try, but if there is anyone else in the area who can make it for the 16:55 EDT deadline, I would greatly appreciate the increase in odds! Smile Please PM me if you can make it and we can coordinate a meeting time/place.

I think I can cover the Davis "Red" site. It is the same as last time so we know the phone!

Did anyone notice that all the Axons for "exclusive_license" are in Albequerque? I think this is the first time that all axons in a block have been in one area. Any idea of significance?

Wana know if anyone else is gonna try and get these, ill prob go for the Rogers one first.

I'm in the North Metro of Mpls./St. Paul.

I'm definitely going to get the Minneapolis Axon tomorrow. I can get to work a little bit late with no trouble.

The others are a bit tough for me to get out of work for.

P.S. -Neaanmyr- I'm PM'ing you with some info I have found on the other 2 Axons.

There's FINALLY two axons in Nebraska, but neither of them are in Omaha. I can't believe it.

visa 12:11 PDT 40.26286 -96.7855 Beatrice, Nebraska
raining_cops 15:31 PDT 40.82793 -96.6658 Lincoln, Nebraska

It's suprising because Beatrice is so small compared to Omaha. Lincoln is understandable, though.

If they decide to put any in Omaha, I'll be there. I doubt many others would know about it, or be willing, for that matter.

Refer to http://www.theblackforge.net/hivekuts-coords.html for
maps.

12:33: The Human Heart (repeat).

32.785099 -117.129132

This is the pay phone, OUTSIDE, of the McDonald's at Fenton Marketplace (where the Mission Valley CostCo is). The McDonald's is on the corner of Friars and Northside. Should be no trouble to find this.

13:53: Tack Hammer (new).

32.720605 -117.172889

Hah! This should be fun. This is across the street from the Star of India.
If memory serves, this is very close to Anthony's Fish Grotto. Searching the payphone lists gives two likely sets:

619-238-9232...Anthony's Fish Grotto.........1360 N Harbor Dr...inside*
619-238-9124...Anthony's Fish Grotto.........1360 N Harbor Dr...womens room*

619-531-9806...Cruise Ship Tours.............1140 N Harbor Dr...outside*
619-238-9523...Cruise Ship Tours.............1200 N Harbor Dr...outside*

The problem is that the map indicates otherwise. Anthony's points are south of the marked area. The Cruise Ship Tours spots are even further south. People who wish to hunt this out should know that the exact point is NORTH of Ash St., and on the EAST side of the street, next to the large parking lot across the street from the Star of India.

(EDIT: I remember the Star and cruise ship being SOUTH of Anthony's, which would put those phones in the right spot, but I haven't been there in a while. Feel free to scout around.)

16:13: I Hate You (new).

32.690600 -117.245000

Point Loma, Cabrillo National Monument.

Son of a...I was in Point Loma yesterday for work.
Note that 'work', in this case, is Fort Rosecrans. Not exactly where I was, but close. Anyone who's familiar with the area will understand that there is a large military presence there.

The actual point is on the way to the Cabrillo National Monument. It is almost certainly one of these two phones:

619-226-8860...Cabrillo National Monument....Auditorium...outside*
619-226-9588...Cabrillo National Monument....Auditorium...outside*

It's on Cabrillo Memorial Drive. The mark is at a small turnoff (probably the one that leads to the auditorium).

16:55: Right (repeat).

32.736089 -117.149150

The pay phones outside the San Diego Zoo. People should know where they are, though it did take a while to get it the first time. Which bank was it? The ones by the photo hut? There are four phones there.

619-237-9013...San Diego Zoo.................2920 Zoo Dr...Safari Photo Outpost*
619-238-9727...San Diego Zoo.................2920 Zoo Dr...Safari Photo Outpost*

619-238-9734...San Diego Zoo.................2920 Zoo Dr...exit*
619-238-9735...San Diego Zoo.................2920 Zoo Dr...exit*

17:31: Creamsicle (new, and WTF?)

32.847369 -117.277297

Interesting. The list says 'Mission Bay'. This isn't even close. It's in downtown La Jolla, marked at the corner of Coast Blvd. and Jenner St. No idea what's at that particular intersection, besides the beach--I envy the person going there.

I was at the one in the San Diego Zoo on the 24th but nothing happened cause of the prank calls and people started using the phones around 1751. this time around I wont be able to be there casue i get home around that time 1655, but i could make it if i really wanted to.....the other ones are just too early and i will be at work during that time.....i wonder if you are the guy from coronado Laughing

Which Axons are new?

I have been extending DM's activeinactive_208.xls file. Now DM will be posting up a completed file, with a whole lot more info, but I figured I'd post this up here for the time being, because I think the info may be useful.

What I've done is compare the new Axon locations with all the previous ones, and added a column to the file to show whether the new location existed previously or not, and if it did, whether it was connected or not. I've done this because I've heard a lot of people talking about whether or not these are new/different locations. It should also be noted that some sites have more than one call to them (see for example the 16:39 and 16:51 axons which are both to the same place). Interestingly enough, these two calls are the only calls to an Axon location from the recipe3 page.

Finally some stats:
151 Axons are at new locations
131 Axons are at locations that have "Gone Hot" in the past
42 Axons are at locations that have been given before but didn't go hot for whatever reason.

Hope it's useful.

Yay! Finally a Nashville axon!

615-259-2655...Cotton Eyed Joe's.............2nd Av & Broadway*

If this isn't it, I'm sure there will be plenty of phones nearby. This is 'the' main intersection in downtown Nashville, and the axon hits at 5:29 Central. Hopefully it will still be up tomorrow and I can get into work early enough to leave and catch it. I might need some friends if we find multiple banks...
