I'm going to try to make it, but now it's up to the Metro whether I'll get there in time. Got caught up doing stuff this morning for longer than I had hoped.

I'm wearing pretty much the same thing as my rank and file photo (beige khakis, faded blue overshirt, possibly my sunglasses), but I'm also wearing a blue shirt that prominently advertises Old Navy.

I'm about 5'8", I think. I can also be recognized by the blue "Galaxy Angel" cell phone strap dangling from my phone - usually attached to my belt.

From ilovebees.com
Quote:
Crew: it has become obvious that I have been shipwrecked not only in a strange place, but in a strange time. I am requesting your help in orienting to my current surroundings. Please send me a picture of a contemporary construct, physical or social, which you suspect will be unfamiliar to me, along with a picture of its likely analog in 2552. You may consider this a field test of your communication skills with visual media, commencing immediately, and closing at midnight PDT.

Those crew members displaying particular skill and initiative will earn my respect, and access to some hitherto highly confidential information.

WTF? I guess I will need my camera after all. Any guesses on what this means? She wants pictures of things from this time but how do we find pictures to relate them to in the future?

Ok never mind. Now the question is whose side are we on? Mellisa or Sleeping Princess

DC Axon Hunters Poker Night!

Hey all-

As per our discussion at Union Station today, I am officially inviting you to my house on Oct. 29th (next friday) for a Poker night.

I imagine we'll start around 8 o'clock (time subject to change), and run until people decide to leave. The poker game will be either $5 or $10 buy in, depending on people's desires. Chips will probably run $.10, $.25 and $.50, although again, this can be subject to change if there are any real problems with this.

It will be BYOB, as well as any snacks you might want. We can order papa johns if people want to have real food and don't want to eat before hand.

Also, we have 2 XBoxes, but alas, only 1 TV. If anyone wants to be so kind as to bring another fairly large TV, we would have no problem hooking up an 8-player Halo game as well, if/when people get bored/broke. We'd need another copy of Halo, and some more controllers (we have 1 regular and 3 s-type), but we'd love to have people play if they're interested (I know I'd be once you guys take all my money.)

Now, the important stuff. Most of you have my cell #, but I need to get you directions. The best bet is to PM me here with an e-mail address or other such means of communication, and I'll e-mail you with directions and other such useful information.

My last question to everyone is: Is there anyone else we want to invite? My roomate knows about ILB, but isn't more than peripherially involved due to me. He also has some friends who enjoy halo and know about ILB's, but aren't "involved." He's offered to invite them along... would that be acceptable to everyone else? It's more money for the taking... Plus, as far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier... but I thought I'd pose the question to everyone else, and see what you think. Do we want to make it crew/current axon hunters, or do we want to invite others interested in ILBs? Let me know one way or another.

I think that covers just about everything, but feel free to pose questions or make other suggestions. All suggestions are welcome!

airscottie - indeed there is a GW axon. We've never found it. It was a late addition to the game; ran for two weeks when we couldn't get to it, then 2 more where it would not make the final cut. But it survived the cut today (I missed it in my cleanup list this morning).

Check the 17:33 axon on theblackforge page. It will keep ringing all week since nobody got it today.

The coordinates are in the street in front of the med school, down from the subway. There are no phones outside there. The spot is within the margin of error for the phone to be at the subway - outside or down in the station (there's always a couple behind the maps near the farecard machines). Or it could be in the med school there, or even across the street (is that a dorm?).

I am also a newbie at this and want to contribute but it appears the closest axon to me is the silver springs one. I live in Bowie, Maryland if that helps. This is such a newb-ish question but how is the best way to look up the long-lat. on a map? Don't flame me because I really want to help!

Welcome aboard!

RE: no close by axons: it may be possible for you to submit your own axon. I'm not sure if this is still in effect, but sveral paople had success w/ this from last week.

RE: overly flamable? : check out the questions forum & avoid trout. I think you can also find intell on axon submission there.

RE: GPS : check out this site here, as it support ILB coords directly & interfaces w/ several map servers

Welcome welcome!

Sadly, StarCreator has tried twice to find the Silver Spring axon. The coordinates are on top of an apartment building. I think the only way in is for residents/guests. There appears to be a phone near the pool, but that's all closed.

There were some axons farther out in Maryland much earlier in the game but they'ev gone away. Araden actually tried to get one a couple times that never rang....

GW axon

Ok...here's some thoughts about the apparently ever-elusive GW axon (sorry I'm a little jittery hahaha, that red sox game was unbelievable)...

If the area is in front of the med school and near the metro, there's a very good chance the phone could either be IN the George Washington University hospital (right next to the metro) or down 23rd street in front of one of the dorms (munson is over there...if you know the area). Also there is a loading dock on the other side across from a 7/11, there might be a phone or two over there as well.

If anyone has any ideas about when the phone could ring, just post here, and I'll head on over there tomorrow and check it out. Also, if I do get the call, are there special instructions? Or do I just listen? Thanks a lot, I hope I can help.
