I regret to inform you that as of next week, my days of axon-hunting may very well come to a close due to the start of school on Monday for me.

That is all.

I'm still going to be in the area, so I could IN THEORY continue to get axons, but I will have to skip class to do so. Class costs money. My money. So I may have to just get axons on the weekends.

We shall see.

In Eugene, also at the Valley River Center. Same as our second stretch_em axon at 16:57.
(Be warned; the same coordinates on the same list have been known to use different payphones.
The same coordinates on different lists tend to indicate the same payphone, though.)

can_opener (0/7) 17:45 44.070546 -123.106326 Eugene
In Eugene. Same as before. This is the third Valley River Center axon.

double_down (0/7) 18:03 44.070546 -123.106326 Eugene
In Eugene. Same as before. Stop the Valley River Center madness! Stop it!

I've been covering the Eugene phones since comatas. The ones in the VRC are this cluster of four in the bathroom hallway across from the food court. Used to be that only the second one would ring, but as of recipe1, all four have started up.

I've been fortunate that the times for the phones have been at or after five PM. So long as that schedule keeps up, I can keep answering they day the axons go live.

Your man in Eugene,

slacktron

I suppose the question is, does she have your number?

recipe2 AXONs go live Sept 28

As far as I know, I'm available Sept 28 for axon enhottenating. As soon as jes5199 gets his lister setup, we'll have a nicely linked list and can coordinate notes. Until then, it's visual with inio. Who else is available next tuesday?

Eugene backup

The coords and times just went up on recipe2.

Sadly, Melissa has pushed up her Eugene phone time so that I can't get to them, lest I lose my job, my income, my internet connection, and thus my usefulness. Can anyone volunteer to back me up?

44.070546 -123.106326 14:57 PDT (can't make it)
44.070546 -123.106326 16:05 PDT (can't make it)
44.070546 -123.106326 16:53 PDT (I'm on it)
44.070546 -123.106326 17:03 PDT (I'm on it)

I can get you to the exact place within 20 seconds of call-time, as I've discovered the calls sync up with www.time.gov pretty closely.
The calls I can't make are going to be to the first two phones in the bathroom hallway north from the food court, between Sole Savers and Watch World.

Looks like it's the same 12 phones that we've gotten to know so very well

Melissa didn't take any of my personal information down... I didn't even know I was part of the crew until it was put up there. My Tuesday class is about midway through the day, so I should be able to get the early morning and late afternoon axons then. Any others I'll see if I can get a following day.

More importantly, if more people want to get involved getting the local axons, they should feel free to do so. Since I'm already part of the crew, more of you might get a chance to be too if you can answer the phones I can't make.

edit: This is an emotional rant in the strictest sense; I wanted to get it off my chest so that I could move on. So, don't worry, I wasn't trying to say that the Flea is Covenant or whatnot, I just needed to vent my frustration, not really with anybody in particular, but mostly with myself. I don't need any real formal response, but a pat on the back would be nice..

$(*^&(@)*&^)!! They say not to bottle up your anger, so I'm posting this to the Portland thread.

Why is everybody so afraid of the big bad Melissa?! We botched it for the Sleeping Princess. It's over. We earned her trust, and we dashed it. Betrayed her. We don't even know if she's dead or alive.

And now that we know that one live call can have unprecedented effect over the game--throwing our inside woman in a glass coffin--EVERYBODY'S TOO $^@(&*!ING SCARED TO CALL HER ON IT. I am so angry. The Sleeping Princess was my friend; a little odd, but... when she finished her story of Perdita, I wanted to cry and I would have put a red balloon on every payphone from here to Gresham if I had the energy. But no, now she's gone, and there's nothing left to do but wet our pants over the prospect of a hangup.

Come on! We got the Princess thrown in a cell, we can do the same for the Flea. If you get a live call and you decide not to say the F word (flea, that is), maybe you'll get your name on the website... but if you're the one who alerts her to the threat that's turning her into a monster, MAYBE YOUR NAME WILL GO DOWN IN ARG HISTORY. We've lost the Widow. We've lost the Princess. We've lost most of the Queen. What have we got to lose?

(takes deep breaths)

I guess mostly I'm jealous because I badly wanted to be a part of the crew, because I'm a good communicator and I had a thousand ideas for how I _shoulda_ done it when Melissa called me and I babbled about her pretty her voice was. I guess I'm jealous because Melissa sounds a lot like me, scared, lonely, feels like she's living on substandard hardware and I guess the Sleeping Princess sounds just like one of my best friends, bursting with energy and stories and always curious about the world around her...

I guess I'm pretty sad if I'm looking for companionship from AI's in the future. BUT! This doesn't mean I'm not coming to terms with it. I'm starting a club for People Who Get Way Too Worked Up About ARG's. I'll be the founding member. I'm Cherry Cotton, and I'm the biggest DORK you ever met.

(takes a few more deep breaths)

...and... and... the Princess never DID react to any of my E-mails, no matter how bright and communicating-ful my ideas were, and the truth is, in an ARG played by hundreds, only a handful of completely random people can have token roles. I guess I better beat it, then.

(cries)
