again...

Alright people, you know the drill. I'll be available again for operatorness (is that a word?) tomorrow. Same phone number as usual. I'm gonna try to hit the 12:13, 12:31, 12:32, 12:47 and 13:00 axons, unless we need to do a crazy relay thingie. Have fun out there, hopefully it will stay dry tomorrow. PM me if you need my contact info again.

Hey, I live in SF and would love to help. I have all day free. Where should I go?

Welcome dudebrofella!

You can go to any and/or all of them! For specific, accurate locations, look at the SF portion of this spreadsheet that ariock posts (updated 11:30 pm, 10/25). I will be out there from around 3-4 until the nitty gritty end. Ranger D and Mazian will be out there during the lunch hour and frankie2tone is going to be out there for a while in the afternoon too. Good luck everyone and try to stay dry...

EDIT: Or, look BELOW.

** - for the spreadsheet, not the lame alliteration joke. ***

*** - except for the last joke, which hmrpita suggested, so blame her for that.

The Adam, Ranger D and I all got a live call from the Sleeping Princess. You can find Ranger D's account here.

It was an awesome call. I wish we recorded it for posterity. Row Row Row Your Boat, in rounds is worthy of a posting (I hope) Very Happy

Davis Axon

Davis axon (14:57) went without a serious hitch or fireworks today.

Attending were Arana, Jshei, Pants, Akodo Bob, and AB's friend (whose handle I don't know). They let me take the call since Melissa has liked my voice in the past. Repeated "Bees" four or five times and got the "Good". I see the clip is active now as well.

Our only difficulty is that a bench near the phone has become a hangout for panhandlers who come over and hit us up for change. Not a problem except that it makes it harder for us to keep up our active SPEC debates. A small price to pay to the Beekeeper community!

I was sitting in the IRC channel, workign on other things, occasionally paging back to IRC to check the channel for the axon spike marker text. When I see that g_adams27 has posted "a burning fever / 16:04:00".

So I checked the list of axons that Ariock had posted on his website and saw that 16:04 was a SF axon. Bam, hit redial. (Since I had found myself The Adam's operator, we had been calling each other back and forth.)

Adam answers and says something like "Help me out, what's the passphrase?"

"a burning fever 1604" I say. I hear it repeated by someone else in the background, and then repeated again.

"We're good," Adam says, and I "peace" out.

Cool

From the 10/26 404 page:
Quote:
Combat Training Exercise

I have arranged a special training exercise for crewmembers 17 and older, utilizing squad-oriented combat simulation LIVEware, for Thursday, Nov. 4, from 18:00 – 21:00 Pacific time at the following coordinates:

40.743071 -073.976763
42.040240 -088.035197
30.266632 -097.744710
37.784568 -122.404169

The last one is in San Francisco here.

Liveware?

Let's pahhhteeeee.

P.S. And that's where the Metreon is, approximately. Dear me.

Thanks Mazian. I was at that axon with Adam. I was wondering how he figured it out so quick. I'm going to post up a recording of our conversation soon.

Not an axon, but...

Not related to axons, but this is the only place where beekeepers are filtered by region.

After hearing about the "combat training exercises" (404 Page and Forums thread) on Nov 4th, one of which will occur in SF, I talked to a few crewmembers in the East Bay area and we agreed that, whether or not everyone could make it to the exercise (schoolnight, work, traffic, etc) it would be fun to meet for food and the beverage of your choice sometime, catch up and tell war stories, and hang out for a few hours with the people that we've gotten to know "in silico" for the last few months. If you can make it into the city, but perhaps not on Mel's schedule, this is your chance.

If there is interest in this, feel free to AIM/PM me or make comments here. (And if this is, in the general opinion, too far OT for this threat, holler and I'll change it to just contact me)

Here's to the loyal crew!

Pants, I think that's a very nice idea. Like maybe on a weekend?

Especially since I just sent Melissa a second email cancelling the first. Dentist at 16:30 does not equal being in SF by 17:45.

Plus I think there are probably lots more people (like millions and millions) who are better at "squad-oriented combat simulation LIVEware" than I am (especially right after an hour with the dental drill), so I didn't want to hog a place in line.
