I'll give 14th St one more try tonight, but that's probably all I'll be able to make this week, at least until Thursday or Friday.
hungrygaijin - I made a quick pass through the NYU bookstore last week and didn't see any phones, but there could yet be one hidden somewhere.

Ugh, I think I have a failure to report. I went to the payphone next to the NYU bookstore (it was the exact one I thought it would be) and answered it right at 11:13 (2:13 EST). Melissa came on and said a few things...then she asked me what the captain's last name was...to which I responded "Greene." However it didn't seem to work and she said I wasn't part of the crew. Then it just disolved into a voice repeating "I love bees" for about a minute.
Here are pics of the building and of the phone .
Sorry if I messed it up...but I was sure that was the right response...[/url]

No, most likely not your fault. Greene is the answer. But a certain percentage of the calls fail anyway, probably to drag out the solve. Too bad it means people have to make extra trips out of their way to get the same axons again later.

Holy crap, I never even thought to check in there. *facepalm* On the bright side, at least we know now where it is, and if no one gets it tomorrow, I oughta be able to run out for it (and maybe Rubin) on Thursday.
I was stuck on a bus down 2nd at 7:51 tonight, and I have late class tomorrow and plans on Thursday. Anyone who wants to take a stab at 14th, go ahead, otherwise I'll try to hit it on Friday.

Long Island Round 5 Here are the preview coordinates for Long Island, Round 5, expected to go live tomorrow (possibly on contactme.html?)
6:23 40.79877 -73.5025 Syosset New York New York
6:27 40.79307 -73.41634 West Hills New York Melville
6:31 40.72614 -73.42427 South Farmingdale New York East Farmingdale
6:37 40.84873 -73.16681 Nesconset New York Smithtown
7:03 40.722878 -73.664302 Franklin Square New York Franklin Square
10:03 40.78894 -73.70245 Manhasset New York Manhasset
11:33 40.71858 -73.35424 North Babylon New York West Babylon
12:16 40.80408 -73.36021 South Huntington New York New York
12:32 40.7119 -73.4289 South Farmingdale New York New York
13:28 40.84643 -73.26688 Commack New York Commack
Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to take off work this week. Siege? Strife? Anyone else?
A note on the 7:03 Franklin Square - same time, same coordinates as the comatas one. I tried that on Sunday... I found 2 phones, one didn't accept incoming calls, and the other worked fine, but did not ring at the appointed time. The map points to the LIRR station; the one inside the station doesn't accept calls, the one that did but didn't ring was at the junction of South and Nassau Blvd. So if you're trying this one, you may want to get creative... maybe try the country club.
I'll try to sweep whatever's left this weekend. It's a shame they didn't repeat the Great Neck/Northern Blvd one (Calculus) from the Recipe 3 page... I nailed that one yesterday. And where were you guys, Long Island gets our own Recipe 3 axon and I'm the only guy who shows, 2 days after it went live?

today From what I can tell of the map we have two today- the library and Ellis Island.
I know people have made the library before, I hope you guys get it again and I hope you are part of the crew.
I could actually go to Ellis Island tomorrow, but I have no idea where the phone they mean might be...

I heard some of the supposedly cancelled axons are still being called. Unfortunately, this is Yom Kippur weekend and I'm leaving town to attend services; won't be back till after the 9am EDT phones on Sunday. I'll make an attempt at the afternoon Suffolk set if I have time.
(Times EDT are 2:33, 3:16, 3:32, 4:28 )
I doubt I can get from Huntington to Farmingdale in 16 minutes, considering it would probably take me a few minutes to answer/give up and get to my car after Huntington and a few more to park and find payphones in Farmingdale. I gotta hit that Babylon one, I live there and must reward the game for giving one so near my house.

AtroPhied reports that about 10 cancelled axons changed to "success" yesterday on recipe1. Unfortunately we haven't actually heard from someone who got one of those phones. (Except one post from SpaceBass I haven't had a chance to ask him about.) We did hear from people who got axons on the still-locked sound clips, and Johnny Nitro managed to unlock a clip and then get a couple more (it was the Charlotte block of 5 phones) before he was cut off. Last call never came. Make of that what you will. So while you can try, you may or may not find phones ringing. If you DO find the phones still ringing, please post. Add it to our "axon behavior database".

In NYC saturday... Hey there!
First post. I'll be brief.
I live in Annandale on Hudson, NY, whicih is sort of in the middle of nowhere. No axon-answering fun for me!
Saturday I'll be in NYC, at the train station, and around all day.
I'm not sure how this coordination thing works. Apologies. I WANT to help, and I'm prepared to. If someone can give me an address or a location or anything, really, I will be there with information in hand...
any takers?
Many thanks!

EvDex - welcome! But there's nothing to do at the moment in NYC. No open axons there, since the Queen shut down everything as of wednesday once all the clips were released. If the princess gives us some new axons in her (expected, but who knows) update on Friday, there might be. Watch the forums.

upcoming coordinates for 9/28 Did anyone find the phone that is:
07:13 PDT 40.701353 -74.012674
It seems to be next to the Staten Island Ferry?
07:27 PDT 40.75201 -73.981868
is the library again - someone must have that one covered I hope
08:31 PDT 40.699723 -74.038645
is the Ellis Island one- happily there is only one bank of pay phones there but the ferry ride does cost $10.00
12:29 PDT 40.773127 -73.97821
is the one at 65th and the Park - again did we find this phone?
15:41 PDT 40.773359 -73.96416
is the Whitney Museum which seems not possible again because of the time unless we can get it on Friday
Good luck everyone and I hope that we get a lot of New York axon hunters on the crew!!!!!

EvDex - Glad you are here. There may be axons near you this time. And you can always go for Manhattan axons. We try hard. But we aren't as organized or methodical as the other cities seem to be. Maybe now we have a chance to be on the crew....
The process is simple:
1. Check the list on http://www.theblackforge.net/recipe2-coords.gz.html
for axons close to you.
2. Add 3 hours to the PDT to compensate for the time difference for New York.
3. Before you leave for the axon, check in here or in the chat room #beekeepers to find out what question Melissa is asking.
4. Try to find the phone, this may be harder than it sounds!!
5. When the phone rings, answer it and listen for the question. If you answer it correctly, the axon will be hot. Speak clearly into the phone.
6. If you get a live call, then just do your best to answer the questions you are asked.
Remember:
her name = Melissa
the ship = Apocalypso
the Captain = Green
nickname = operator
First Officer = Sorenson
nickname of person picked up in space = Castaway
person who helped catch the rogue = weephun
Good luck!!
