[PUZZLE SOLVED] - The WAV files (Ordered and combined).

Get em while they're hot. Three stories of espionage and intrigue in the far future. Awesome stuff all round.

Maybe trout, but I'm posting this everywhere at once, so just move it if it is Wink

If someone with bigger bandwidth is willing to mirror the files, I'd greatly appreciate it.

In parallel, more open for discussion:

http://ilovebees.brejningelev.dk

The waves have been joined into:

Intruder : Jen breaks into a military area on a dare
Interrogation : Jen takes a pop quiz and is retrieved by her father
Consequences : Jen's father reprimands her on the car
Emergency : a police station on fire

Durga : the Flea an AI takes over Jersey's machine, and gets named Durga

Runaway_Date : a girl runs away from a date with (1)
Beer-talk : (1) and his friend talk about the bad date, and the upcoming one with Sophia
Smalltalk : Sophia and (1) talk about Aiden
Ghosting : (1) explains to Sophia how ghosting is done
Guilty : Sophia and (1) talking about ghosting Aiden
Message_Saved : Sophia leaves three messages on (1)'s answering machine after their date, finding out about Aiden's two-timing
Two-timer : Sophia crashes Aiden's and Celine's date

The order seems fine, too. Let's see how it works out Smile

The flea seems to be the only male character we have, so I'm not so sure it's him that has taken over Jersey's computer. He couldn't have manipulated Jeannie because she was killed by Durga, and Durga shares the same voice and traits as Melissa. Melissa seems like a closer match for who Durga is than the Flea, but it is still an interesting spec.

"(1)"'s name

I think the guy on the date's name is Kahmal. Sophia says it on his message service twice.

Please refer to message_saved.wav at 9s and 27s

Sure, no problem. And if you or anybody need anything else mirrored (errr... besides maybe the Wiki Wink) I'd be happy to help. I have a 1and1 preview package -- really good hosting for free! Wink

I'm not sure this is a puzzle solve. I still think that we're missing files, especially between our_hoodlums and much lifting. That could simply be a cut though.

Not to mention the remaining 567 axons. That means, with 7 axons a file (an assumption, I know), that we have a story spanning 111 files. We onlt have 30 files.

Should we change the tag to partial puzzle solve?

Perhaps Jan's story is really the continuation of Jersey's story. After all, Jersey's story ends with "Durga" offering to show Jersey something better than mere pictures of Jan. It also ends, as near as I can tell, with one of the "short" tape-winding-down sounds, which usually indicates the end of a scene, not an entire story.

{But I'll bet this is trout somewhere in those massive axon threads.}

I think chaotic_mind is right. The conversation jumps a bit to much to be complete.

111 total. 1+1+1=3. We get 30(ie. 3)at a time.

Yep sounds Bungie enough.

HAH! I knew it was only a matter of time before somebody started doing numerology.

If you like number tricks like that, check out http://marathon.bungie.org/story/ -- it's chock-full of them! Either Bungie puts a real serious effort into creating numerology patterns, or the universe is far stranger than we suspect.

(edit: mmm. I missed your last line. I'll leave the post here for the benefit of others though.)

This compilation is -almost- accurate.

However, a friend and I have put together our own mix of all the files in order. Some interesting things have arisen.

The file 'emergency' is out of place, it does not fit with any of the storylines like the others do.

There is an unusual jump between 'Our_hoodlums' and 'Much_lifting'. There should be another file between the two, either that or whoever cut these files up did a horrible job. If you listen to the original files on a decent audio editing program, (we used cool edit pro, next best thing to pro tools.) The music playing at the end of 'hoodlums' when Sophia say's 'yeah' does not flow with the music at the beginning of 'much_lifting'. They're in completely different keys. Not only that, but the intonation of sophia's voice when she says 'Exactly' makes it sound like she's saying that in reply to something Kalam said, not to support her previous 'yeah'. Plus the continuing conversation about Sophia's mother does not seem to coincide with the previous.

More things to note: The use of the 'winding sound' is frequent.

An extensive winding up sound is played at the beginning and end of each storyline. Everytime there is a setting or time jump, a shorter version of the winding sound is played.

This gap between 'hoodlums' and 'lifting' is too apparent to connect with each other and there is no winding sound played.

My conclusions:
-There is a missing file which leads me to believe..
-There is a hidden file somwhere on the site.
-Or, someone screwed up big time.

Another thing I've observed about this compilation. I believe 'Guilty' and 'Message_saved' are switched in the order from the link above. 'Say_something' ends with Sophia saying 'Wait, can you do that with anyone?' followed by the short winding down sound.

In 'Guilty' the dialogue starts off with Kamal wondering wtf when he say's 'You want me to spy on your boyfriend?'

In 'Message_saved' the first two messages are sophia pretty much thanking Kamal for helping her out. The third, and the one that's saved, is Sophia in distress because she found out the name of the lady Ailen is seeing. It makes more sense the order would be: 'say_something', 'message_saved', and then 'guilty'.

Questions in mind: How do Jan and Jersey connect? Why all the J names? (Jersey's father: Jace) What the crap could happen next?

Lets get all these axons hot, peoples. Nothings going to happen till every one is connected.

(Attatched is our version of Jan's story in MP3 which has been professionally mixed. Any questions concerning this file contact me by PM.)

Plenty I disagree with there, Crisko, but I'll just cover the biggest for the moment.

Guilty and Message_Saved are in the right order

In Guilty, she asks Kamal to spy on Aiden, and he's surprised, but agrees to help her.

In Message_Saved, she has recieved 30 hours of spy footage of Aidens appartment from Kamal, along with a spy-search routine. Simple, linear logic. At the end, she's found another woman in the recordings and calls for Kamal again, sobbing that she's confirmed her fears and that Aiden was cheating with her. No other order makes sense. To surmise (with added contextual links between the two)

Kamal goes on terrible date, 'helped' by his friend Hiroyuki.

(He leaves the hotel - wind-down, arrives at Hiroyuki's apartment next)

Kamal gets set up on a blind date by his mother.

(Wind-down, arriving at him on this blind date, and the first words Sophia says are 'I'm sorry' - which is just comedy gold)

Said blind date already has a boyfriend, but they still get along great otherwise.

(They leave the hotel and go... somewhere - walking? I hear breeze.)

Kamal draws the topic to spying, and shows off his ghosting skills. Sophia asks whether he can do it to anybody.

(Link between these: He mentions an spying on an ex-girlfriend in one, and then mentions 'when I did it to my girlfriend' in the next)

Later, Sophia asks for Kamal to spy on Aiden, as he's been acting suspicious.

Sophia, now with Kamal's spy-logs of Aiden, phones him up and asks for more help.

With Kamals help, Sophia exacts revenge on her cheating boyfriend. To sum up that ending: Pwnd.

Emergency fits in with the context. Driving home, Jan's dad (the super-secret operative whom NO information exists about) sayins 'I'll take care of it', in a rather ominous way. Fade to black, and the police station they just left is burning now - arranged, obviously. The fire sensors were disabled so that all evidence would have proper time to be destroyed.

As for the link between Our_Hoodlums and Much_Lifting is a little stilted - I think I may have left a fraction of dead air in there which makes it sound odd (may fix it later), but in the context of the script and flow of conversation (the real indicator), it works perfectly.

Sopia is talking about why she can't tell her mother about Aiden, and..

Kamal: But that's not the problem. It's not so bad he's-
Sophia: -colourful?
Kamal: A hoodlum
(they chuckle)
Kamal: It's just that he's not...
Sophia: One of our hoodlums. Yeah.
(she lets out a small wistful sigh)
Sophia: Exactly. Mom would say she understood, but
Kamal: And then you'd pay.
(And then they get to talking about their mothers)

It sounds like a perfectly ordinary meandering conversation. Like ordinary people have.

Edit: I just looked at it in goldwave, and repeated that link-fragment repeatedly. It's perfect - it even links their shared little laugh, Kamal making a 'Cheaah' noise at the end of one file leads perfectly into the next. The only 'editing' I did on these files is removing the second or so of dead air between pieces, so they slot together like a jigsaw puzzle.
