tried to find a copy of stegdetect 0.4 and found this

http://www.fitug.de/debate/0112/msg00188.html

Quote:
After scanning two million images from eBay without finding any
hidden messages, we extended the scope of our analysis.

This page provides details about the analysis of one million images
from the Internet Archive's USENET archive.

Processing the one million images with stegdetect results in about
20,000 suspicious images. We launched a dictionary attack on the
JSteg and JPHide positive images. The dictionary has a size of
1,800,000 words and phrases. The disconcert cluster used to
distribute the dictionary attack has a peak performance of roughly
87 GFLOPS.

However, we have not found a single hidden message.

seems stegdetect comes up with a lot of false positives

Actually thats not bad. Finding 20,000 images out of 1,000,000 is only 2%. So 2 pictures out of a hundred isn't bad at all. There is nothing foolproof.

I mean these images are hidden, so there s ALWAYS the possibility that you will a "look-a-like" signature in 1,000,000 images.

At least its ont 50% faliure rate. Or 75%

Immersion Unlimited?

Could the IU / UI Java doohickey on sableshuck.com & hwau.com be a reference to Immersion Unlimited? Apologies if I'm trouting but I did reread and haven't spotted it so far.

Also, having decided to sign up at sableshuck (with much trepidation), I succeeded in getting a value of my soul at 80 θ (soul derivative thus being 50 θ), for which I owe the forum much thanks. What I'm interested in is the unit - a Greek theta. Any ideas?

on theta

Quote:
Webster's 1913 Dictionary

Definition: \The"ta\, n. [L., fr. Gr. qh^ta, the Greek letter [theta],
[Theta].]
A letter of the Greek alphabet corresponding to th in
English; -- sometimes called the unlucky letter, from being
used by the judges on their ballots in passing condemnation
on a prisoner, it being the first letter of the Greek
qa`natos, death.

{Theta function} (Math.), one of a group of functions used in
developing the properties of elliptic functions.

Theta is also a level of brainwave activity which if I remember correctly is connected to deep sleep. When entered during wakefulness, either through meditation or the use of binaural sounds or Gysins dream machine, it is akin to entering a state of somnabulism, but with controlable visions and hallucinations.

I doubt though that it has anything to do with theta brain activity. The symbols relation to death seems much more likely.

my god the new pathway travel site is the key! to everything Smile im still unpacking it all, but the grey lodge on devils island (and all the other 'resorts' i think) has a java book that opens and fills you with info to search! need to get cracking guys!

theres a letter sequenece that can be rot-ed to make "a total red herring" but im not so convinced it is.

i think i know where john might be (horrible guess and probably awrong), but do i tell brigid?

sorry for the repeated edits and sorry if i didnt add the spoiler tag at the start, the computer's been very weird here

What I got from first scanning:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

Jon was in Babel searching for the Book of Stars, but he seems to have walked on. There's a latin phrase stating "Ophidia in herba", which translates to "Snake in the grass" and meant "hidden, lurking danger".
Besides this, no evidence.

Elysian Fields/Europa bears a rot-ed "A complete red herring" as Devil's Island also has a "total red herring" rot-ed into.

The things I think we should start with, are the crypted message in Asgard, and what I found striking: The multiple occurence of "Daniel 5", which is the story of Belshazaar and the handwriting on the wall. And last not least to find if there's a hint in Nazca, Jon may have left. There's this 21/21 perfect, but seems more a joke about our efforts to crack the meaning of it, than an actual puzzle.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

And by the way....If you reload the site, the entries shift, as I just recognized, besides some basic entries, maybe this leads to the important clues.

"all is not seems. thcrc are clues everywhere"

which I suppose means:
"All is not as it seems. There are clues everywhere"

Edit: I think A....... T.......... refers to the previous sentence

Edit: No sweat douwanna, it took me 10 min to figure out how to work the flash books Rolling Eyes I forgot the face of my father there for a moment.... Wink

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
grabbing the first letter of each sentence in a few of the messages spells out "reassuringly", "no password", "wrong", and "red herrring".

wonder how many references there are to various witches, vampires, & other beasties in the comments. "mina and i had a great time"..."there's no place like home".... etc etc

From The Gray Lodge (Devil's Island) Book:

The location of Trident Air:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Trident Air is located at 48.06N 098.54W which is Devils Lake Municipal Airport (DVL) in Devil's Lake, North Dakota, USA. (How appropriate!)

Here's a nice link with all the relevant info:

Needless to say, there are a ton of anagrams for the Vahalla page (1425 according to this), so I slogged through them and came up with the following somewhat sensible ones with 1-3 words:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

popgun mortar
goat porn rump (!)
grant our pomp
group map torn
poor tramp gun
no program put
put on program
our tampon RPG
UN pot program
top UN program
tug Roman prop

Increasing the words to 4 adds a good 18000, so I will leave it at this. Also, I don't know how extensive that page's dictionary was, and I ignored most initials and foreign words. Two other things. The initials ROT are in there, but I didn't worry about it because the possibilities would make my brain bleed. It may be the devil we're dealing with here, but I don't think he's *that* cruel Razz Second, I left out the letters which rearrange to spell anagram.
