 		Durga/Miranda? (Kamal's Sister) vs Cortana/Master Cheif
I believe Kamal's Sister is not Durga but a Spartan. I think Durga/Melissa knows of Kamal because of her relationship with a Spartan, Miranda. Just like Cortana's relationship with Master Cheif. Miranda most have shared stories with Durga. They could have both been stationed on the ship Apocalypso.

 		this latest axon "your_fault" seems to really reinforce that Kamal's sister (now named Esmi) was taken and replaced with a flash-clone, "metabolic cascade failure" sounds like her whole body just broke down and stopped working

now, is she a Spartan, or an AI? i don't know, i'm not going to spec either way at this point

So my assbmely of the the whole Set5 Jan Arc would be:
set5#19: domestic_skills Jan's cooking questioned
set5#7: tweaked_up Jan asks Gladys for a purpose
set5#23: drink_special Jan goes to Thin's place looking to do good
set5#13: thin_kinkle Jan bluffs Thin and saves Paolo, but Paolo fears she could get him killed
set5#8: skin Thin proposes a game of skill.
set5#11: break_em (just a guess here, no info on contents, but this is the first step in a pool game)
set5#21: run_for_cover Thin gives pool lessons
set5#27: kiss_them Jan shows that she is the master
set5#29 girls_with_guns Paolo is freed to Jan, but Thin wants to be her agent.
set5#17: retirement Jan stays a free agent

I don't see any gaps in the story, but there are several clips we don't have transcripts or tapes of yet. Break_em could be in another Arc, but the name fits.

Personally, I think that the actual order is as follows:
domestic_skills
tweaked_up
(something here)
drink_special
(break_em?)
skin
run_for_cover
(winning?)
Girls_with_guns
retirement
thin_kinkle
(something else here)

With zip_your_shirt, insurrection, winning, break_em, and butter_flavored are still unaccounted for, these could easily work. And they make sense this way.

Basically, my main argument is with your placement of

You'll notice that first of all, Thin calls Jan "babysitter," a nickname she most likely didn't get until they have some kind of interaction, as in skin. I don't think Thin would call Jan a babysitter until he decides she should do some babysitting. Then again, that could change once I actually hear it, I guess.

Now that I've finally heard it, her name is Yasmin.

I lean towards SPARTAN, with the whole Janissary connection.

I agree that the thin-kinkle placement is soft, but I think he uses that term when he first meets her to try and intimidate her with a derogatory reference on her age, appearance and gender. I wish I could hear a clean copy of this.

I pretty firmly believe that retirement is last because they seem to have settled terms with each other, and it ends with the "long wind-down" sound that has ended all other Arcs in previous sets.

Actually, while I was writing that, I came up with the same derogatory nickname idea as you did, but I'd already thought out the other argument. Either way, it still works. And we won't really know until the wav goes hot.

Since writing earlier, I've listened to my version of the arc again, and I think you're right about retirement being the last in that arc. And I'm glad someone else figured that something needed to go between tweaked_up and drink_special for a transition, even though they're obviously different scenes.

My 'reading' is that she is Babysitter based on his earlier reference to babysitting in Skin. He uses skin as a euphemism for sex. She counters with being underage (although there is a gun cocking so this may be accompanied with her pulling a gun on him as later he refers to "girls with guns"). He then counters back with "maybe I'll find some babysittin' for you" (presumably as that is what underage girls do). Now she is the "Babysitter" just like to the folks on base she apparently is the "Walk-away Girl".

It appears to fall just after "Kiss_them".

Another note" For those who can't listen. Jan wears high heels as you can hear them clicking in the other clips as she walks around the table shooting "moons".

[edit:added winding sounds, and another listen made me realize that one phrase was apparently Paolo/grub's voice]

Actually I might have heard it a little differently than you. To my ears, the line "Africa..." was spoken by the grub. Then, the line "You'll be waiting a while" is spoken by Thin. If you listen to the Africa line, you will hear that the voice is lowering in volume, because I think the grub is walking away. And then the you'll be waiting awhile voice is still strong and in the foreground.

I agree 100% although there is an odd sound just as the grub starts talking that I can not place.
Also, there is no wind-down in the wave I got off the fable page. Plus retirment fits just after.

edit: added the retirment piece that didn't copy-paste for some reason :/

I will stick to my "guns" on this. set5#13: thin_kinkle comes right after drink_special.

Here is my reasoning:

1. if the transcript is correct, it starts "Hi Babysitter". You say "Hi" to someone right after you meet them, not after considerable interaction. This places the clip right when Jan has "introduced" herself to Thin - immediately after drink_special.
2. Jan introduces herself to Thin by calling him a "dimestore bully" to try to establish dominance. Thin must respond in kind, so he belittles her by calling her a babysitter and implies she should go back to that job where she belongs.
3. She clearly has the upper hand with her gun, so to save face (bullies are usually really cowards) he challenges her to a pool game thinking he can win (since he runs a pool hall).
4. He reuses the "babysitter" line a few times later to try to put her back "in her place"

I am glad that the hot version of "Girls_with_guns" has allowed you all to correct the misassignment of the lines that I produced from my listening to the clips that were recorded from the phone. I agree with the "africa" line coming from the skin/grub, and Thin providing the response to the request for thanks.

I still see all the Jan clips as one Arc in two settings. Jan talks to Gladys, Gladys sets her loose and she goes out plays the semi-vigilante at Thin's place.

 		I still go with the order below. The current gap in this order is that there appears to be a need for a transition between thin_kinkle and skin to get from the conflict of barbs to the pool game.

set5#19: domestic_skills Jan's cooking questioned
set5#7: tweaked_up Jan asks Gladys for a purpose
(set5#3: insurrection) Brief description indicates Gladys and Jan still talking and that Gladys "encourages her to rebel againt her father". [spec] Gladys sets Jan loose
set5#23: drink_special Jan goes to Thin's place looking to do good, Jan puts Thin down as a "dimestore bully"
set5#13: thin_kinkle Thin responds with his own insult calling Jan a "babysitter", but noticing Jan's gun. Jan bluffs Thin and saves skin/grub, but skin/grub fears she could get him killed (the transcript from the phone seems to be incomplete because it does not include the phrase "thin kinkle". Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that all other clips include the clip name as part of the dialog.)
(missing clip(s)?) Could be "winning", "break_em", or "zip_your_shirt", or a combination of these. All other clips we have data on and can assign to other Arcs. (Wild spec with no data other than clip names: zip_your_shirt is someone telling another character to put a gun away, and break_em is the start of the pool game).
set5#8: skin Thin proposes a game of skill.
set5#21: run_for_cover Thin gives pool lessons
set5#27: kiss_them Jan shows that she is the master
set5#29 girls_with_guns Skin/grub is freed to Jan, he wants to go into hiding, Thin asks Jan for her resume.
