[SPEC] The updates from Amanda and TT's Success.

This email will all be spolier'd for now, until more people read the update we got from Amanda -- "The Rest of the Story". Because the spec involves some of that.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

TT seems to have been a legit Reality Show production company at first. They produced "I Forgot" and "Poor House". Both of which were ultimately failures. For both of those shows, they apparently went on the quick-and-dirty side and saved money by just using subdomains and such.

Now House of Dread comes along. They acted oddly secretive, weird, and almost facetious-like in their responses to Ed. Seems like they didn't even care about who was signing up, just as long as they had people. Seemed to keep tracability of information at a low. Everything starts to go wrong, they (from their POV) understandable keep it hush hush. However, instead of helping the people on-site, they ignore it all.

Now they go from two crappy shows, to a disasterous one, to two new ones with a large jackpot on the second. Seems like they must have got some type of cash infusion perhaps?

Anyway, what I'm spec'ing is that if you tie in a spooky Secret Society (SS) thing in, you could maybe have someone in TT in one, or knows someone in one. They use HoD as a front for some weird SS stuff. The SS invests in the company.

OHHH....

One other thing, if you notice in the mail I got back from Randall Thomas a couple days ago, he said they have no plans of going public. Does that mean anything I don't know.

If you look at everything individually, it looks "ok". Tie it together and everything seems mighty fishy.

Great spec Runge. But I want to clarify one point. The website wasn't used for recruitment but it seems to have been used for tracking:

Totally Twisted didn't even recruit via the web for contestants, but instead relied on a few other methods, such as posting ambiguous casting call signs for "a new reality TV show" (no name given on the sign or at the casting calls) on college campuses, some amateur acting clinics and hotspots around NYC, and so on. These were the main sources of recruiting; the web-page form that Chico did was only a secondary method for people who perhaps saw one of the signs but couldn't make the actual casting calls. It seemed funny though, because as far as Chico knew, these people weren't selected or even contacted. When asked, the Totally Twisted executives would say, almost jokingly, "Hey, it's just our way of keeping track of people who might have seen and taken a special interest in our signs."

I agree that a secret society is involved. I think it's Dream Projector. I don't know if DP is a Secret Society or part of one but I think they are behind TT. I'm leaning towards thinking that TT is a front for Dream Projector experiments. They produce money losing reality shows as a cover for the secret work they are doing for Dream Projector. Obviously losing money isn't a problem for TT/DP or TT would be out of the TV show producing business by now.

Hmmm, I keep looking at this sentence:

"Hey, it's just our way of keeping track of people who might have seen and taken a special interest in our signs."

Signs. Are they talking about advertising signs or some other kind of sign? It seems to me that most business people would use the term 'ads' but these people at TT say 'signs'. Should we be looking for some secret signs? I also think the TT intro page is full of numbers and busyness that have never been discussed here.

Hmm, yea, didn't think of that. Great idea.

Gread Spec, Dashcat. Makes a lot of sense.

When I was reading the email my initial reaction was '*le gasp*, they're gathering people to sacrifice to the 'ancient terror' in exchange for success!'.

Great spec, guys.

And going back and looking at the above thread and the letter you mention, RungeKutta, it's entirely possible that he did get your encoded message, and put his answer in plain view -- namely, that TT has no intentions of ever going public with any info they have on Dread House.
