Boston Axons

I can hit Central Square no problem--I work only one T stop away, and used to live in Central. And if this weren't such a busy work week for me, I'd do others. My roommate MIGHT be able to try for the Coolidge corner axon--if no one gets it, I'll push him to keep trying to go for it.

*dances* About time I got to help out!

*edit I'm in at work at 7am usually as well, so if anyone has password info posted by then, I should be able to pick it up.

Finally - axons in Boston!

I live right in Coolidge Corner, and I can try to hit the axon there. I can scout around in the evening this week to make sure I know where all the phones are, but I probably won't be able to make the time until the weekend.

I've got the ONE in Oklahoma City... Glad they gave me a little something to do. My mother lives in LA and she has agreed to answer any that she can. I'm sending her the coordinates and times today so I'll see what she'll be able to get.

This may be the single most awesome thing I've ever read.

I wonder if I can get my sister to pick one up?

I've scouted the area.

Difficulty: Medium

This is the clock tower at Coolidge Corner. The payphone was not immediately obvious on a drive-by; further scouting might be in order.

Difficulty: Moderately Hard

One payphone, set back a bit from the street. This is an industrial neighborhood and is not particularly savory; there is no public transit nearby and Mass Av is quite a busy street. I may try to do this one from my car, as Central and Coolidge sound covered.

Difficulty: Easy

A pair of payphones are on the corner designated, in front of the Central Square Post Office. This one should be a cakewalk.

For Central Square, I actually found two pairs of pay phones that are relatively nearby, so I checked both sets. One set, across from the Fleet, does not accept incoming calls. The other set, by the 7-11, does. Let's hope Melissa is calling there. ^_^

*edit -- it'd actually be a good thing if I get this axon covered right away. I know there are several schizophrenics that hang out nearby, and that might be quite disturbed to receive a call from Melissa.... Shocked

Brookline, MA phones scouted

I just scouted Coolidge Corner. Walking up and down Harvard Street, I found 3 sets of payphones. First set had 5 near the Coolidge Corner Theater. None took incoming calls.

Two more were next to the shelter on the inbound side of the Green Line 'C' stop. The phone on the right took incoming calls. Probably the best bet here as these phones are closest to the GPS coordinates.

Two more were further down Harvard Street near the salon that did nails. Both of those phones also took incoming calls.

Again, unless these axons are activated during the week, I can definitely stand there Saturday and Sunday.

Mike

9/14 Axons in South NJ & Philly

Hi folks. Long time listener, first time caller. I checked out the south NJ axons the SP gave us (6:05 39.937652 -74.956441 & 14:33 39.896 -75.036086). The 6:05 PDT is up the street from my office, but it DOES NOT EXIST. The site used to be a go-cart track, but it's been out of business for several years. There is nothing there but weeds. Off the bat, that's a dead spot.

The 14:33 PDT is on my way home from work, but I haven't spotted it yet. There is nothing on the street that I saw. There are several small businesses & the SEPTA trainstop in the area, so it might be in one of those.

10:15 39.942494 -75.119095 looks like it is in Camden, NJ. ...Remember what that fella said about getting out of your car in Detroit? Yeah, that could go for Camden, too.

Philly: (6:37 39.951054 -75.153517) is at the corner of 8th & Market St. There are lots of phones on both sides of the street and it is above a SEPTA train stop. It's too many phones for me to cover, and I'll be in NJ when that one fires anyway.

I'm looking forward to the Tuesday update....

san antonio axons

looks like San Antonio is getting 7 this time around.

what a lucky number.

here is what i can add to the mix (please note, the times are modified to reflect San Antonio/Central Standard time. to find parity with the list, subtract 2 hours):

10: 53 : St Mary's and East Houston, downtown
10:57 : East side of Broadway (again!), between Barilla and Poco streets (poco is on west side of Broadway)
11:37 : N. St Mary's by Sunken Gardens...looks like on north side of street (i got married there: i should know it)
11:59 : Right outside Cheesy Janes on Broadway (third time at this location)
15:49 : Across the street from the old ButterKrust factory on...you guessed it, the east side of Broadway (third time at this location)
18:23 : Outside the Texaco, across Hildebrand from Earl Abels...again, east side of Broadway (third time at this location)
20:45 : Looks to be on Basse, on the inside of the street's curve as it goes behind The Quarry.

I'll be scouting the locations tonite to get more refinement.

If there are any other hunters in SA, please contact me. the first 2 axons are only 4 minutes apart, but separated by miles and traffic. plus, i want to know who else is here in the devils air-vent who is a bungie/axon fan.

DC/Northern Virginia: 30 axons, including a block of 12 plus one stray one an hour later at Union Station, at a phone not yet found. Gah!

Please see the DC thread if you can help - we know where all but the Union Station one is. Nice lists, nice maps of locations. Anyone can pick off these to get "axon enhotenating" on their resumes. Feel free to pitch in!

St. Louis beekeepers, heed my call!

Okay, we only have 3 (not including the one in Alton), but I'm not sure I can do any this week, so I need help.

All three have been hit before (Crestwood Best Buy, closed Sports Authority, and Meramec Community College), so there should be no problems.

Anyone out there? Avery?

I may POSSIBLY (note the emphasis) be able to get my cousins in/near Boston to answer a couple, but only if they're really needed, I don't want to put unnecessary pressure on them, I've not seen them in a couple of years and springing this on them may be a bit of a shock.
