[DaVinci Code] Dan Browns site - ARG or strategic marketing?

Take the "challenge" under "secrets" on www.danbrown.com and solve the not so hard puzzles. After a while you are relocated to another site and are requested to send an e-mail. The automatic answer throws you in to the story- Langdon (lead character from the book) is in Florence and has lost an old manuscript. Links get you in to the game. Multiple fake sites.

Have not had time to explore further..yet, but maybe somebody can satisfy my curiosity. Old? New? Game or not?

Edit by Addlepated - Modified the subject line for clarity.

OK. Seriously old news as it seems.
Half an hour of fun to get a recorded commercial on the phone.

It's a tiny ARG to try to get you to buy the book. Good to pass the time for a few minutes though, I guess.

I think I'll read it

So, the commercial stunt worked on me, I'm getting that book.

Another great book, while we're at it, is "The Diamond Age" by Niel Stephenson. HIGHLY recommended. Razz
