auction update

I received the email from Sam yesterday stating that I won the auction, now I'm just waiting to hear back how to pay for it. As soon as I receive the items I'll take pics and let everyone know what they are.

Thanks for the laugh Sunny, it was most welcome. Laughing

Hollow Needle Burglarized!!!

BURGLARY IN AGLAURA - May 16, 2003

Aglaura residents were shocked today to learn that the home and business of a local prominent Aglaura family was burglarized last night. The incident occurred at the Hollow Needle Rare Books and Antiques store on Old Dobbs Road, in Aglaura. The business, owned by J. Douglas Willingham, the Aglaura Borough attorney, and his wife, Phyllis Willingham, is located in their personal residence, and both Mr. and Mrs. Willingham were in the home at the time.
According to Mrs. Willingham, she happened upon the intruder or intruders while going to the kitchen, downstairs in the residence and directly adjacent to the store area, at approximately 11:00PM last night. "I saw a dark menacing figure," recounted Phyllis Willingham from her bed at home, where she is recuperating after being treated at Greatwater General Medical Center, "and before I could even scream or turn on the lights, they were upon me. Oh, it was horrible." Upon further conversation, Mrs. Willingham was unable to say with certainty just exactly how many intruders there were. She was held briefly for observation at GGMC after fainting or being knocked unconsciousness during the incident. Doctors at GGMC have declined to comment on the nature of or extent of Mrs. Willingham's possible injuries.
Aglaura Police have not issued an official statement on the investigation yet but are reportedly following several leads provided by the victims and have suggested that only a few items have been identified as missing yet. Among them are several items that the Hollow Needle only recently acquired, including an old manuscript page alleged by Mrs. Willingham to be quite valuable and rare. This page is one of several items found in an old trunk while renovating the Aglaura Public Library. A few of the other items found in the trunk, including two paintings by local artist Sarah Wyatt, were recently auctioned off in a special Aglaura Library Fund Raising event.
More details as they are available.

I'm guessing it was Colin Penrose "associates". He said he was going to send them to talk to stubborn ol' Phyllis. I wonder if we will ever hear from him again or is he'll suddenly disappear. I guess we shouldn't have told him about the manuscript?

Did Colin Penrose contact the Marzanos?
Sounds like the kind of job the boys might be willing to do.

Musings

What if Colin has influence over the Dead eye guys and they are his associates? If so then why bother to try to get the document through Dame Phyliss? ...unless he made a deal with them after being unable to get it himself... Still, why would they let him have it if he's just another human?

BURGLARY INVESTIGATION INTENSIFIES, STATEMENT PROMISED SOON

May 17, 2003

The investigation into the shocking burglary of a local residence and area business intensified today, as representatives for both the Aglaura Police Department and the victims of the crime made statements and promised more details early next week.
In a brief statement released through her husband, Aglaura Borough Attorney J. Douglas Willingham, the business owner, Mrs. Phyllis Willingham, expressed her shock and dismay that such a thing could happen in a town like Aglaura. "We find the incident disturbing and regrettable," said Atty. Willingham, "And a further indication of the damaging effects of the intrusion of undesirable elements from outside the community into Aglaura." The Willinghams' statement also promised a full accounting of the missing articles sometime next week.
Sergeant Dan Matthews, a spokesman for the Aglaura Police Department, also spoke briefly before reporters gathered outside the Aglaura Municipal building this afternoon. "We appreciate everyone's desire for more information," said Sgt. Matthews, "But it's still much too early for us to make any official comments. Our investigation is just beginning but we have several substantive leads that we hope may lead to a quick resolution of this case. The Chief plans on releasing a more complete and official statement on the investigation sometime next week."
The Aglaura Borough Council has announced an emergency session for this Tuesday, May 20th, called at the request of Mayor Pat Dobbs, to discuss this and other urgent issues.

Update: 5/20 Hidden Painting Buzz

Quote:
"HIDDEN PAINTING" COMMENT HAS AGLAURA SOCIAL CIRCLES BUZZING - May 20, 2003

In an e-mail from Aglaura businesswoman Phyllis Willingham to an undisclosed recipient that has been shared with us, Mrs. Willingham has made a statement that has many around Aglaura scratching their heads in puzzlement as well as sitting up to pay very close attention. Mrs. Willingham, proprietor of the local antique store the Hollow Needle, was the victim of a recent burglary and home invasion, in which several valuable items from her store were taken. In the e-mail Mrs. Willingham wrote, " I cannot avoid thinking that you KNEW I was going to be molested in my own home and robbed of my most valuable assets! The manuscript page, the hidden painting, all of it – gone!" Besides pointing her finger at yet another possible suspect, Mrs. Willingham's message raises a very interesting question. What painting is she referring to? Is it another Sarah Wyatt piece? Was it too found in the old Aglaura Public Library trunk? If so, what were Mrs. Willingham's reasons for keeping the painting "hidden", when she had already revealed the existence of at least two other paintings from inside the same trunk? Many in Aglaura are asking these very questions of themselves and their friends around town today, down in the Aglaura diner and while buying cranberries out at old Del Doyle's. So far, we have heard any good answers.

Phyllis is certainly NOT going to like this attension! Laughing
