[SPEC] Are we supposed to fail the Axon Plot? So I've been thinking, and I know thats dangerous but what can you do?
When I saw the fable axons were set at 5 I started to wonder, are we supposed to fail? So far we've managed to light up every single Axon we've gotten and all we've gotten is more Axons. I think we could be being sounded out, tested to see how much we can be pushed before we break for some purpose.
Are our abilities being tested for a future task, or future revelations? Do they WANT us to fail to light up Axons?
Just something I wondered.

Interesting thought......
It could be a way of weeding out all the more non dedicated gamers. escpecailly the Halo fans that don't appreciate the stroy and were just looking for freebees from bungie.

they intended for us to fail to find some of them maybe but they set an upper limit of 777 axons no DM/GM/PM in there right mind spells out the goal like that if they want you to fail it makes it to hard to move the line with out creating disention amoung the gammers. i'm sure when we reach the 777 goal they reward us with "some thing big".

If this is supposed to be a piece of viral marketing and all, weeding out all the Halo fans would not be the greatest idea ever.
Then again, this may just be a vanity project by the Bungie team, clutching their beloved Halo Bible to their chests, to try and get someone, anyone, to listen to their storyline.

Question: Why would they keep telling us to get to 777 (ref: Dana's latest blog post, and the newest 404 page), if we're not meant to get to that many hot axons? It just dosn't make sense. Now, if there was someone/thing trying to stop us from getting the axons, it would make sense, but there's nothing doing that right now.

Except the frustrated players that won't visit payphones anymore. which begs the question. does anybody know of people who have stopped visiting locations? alot of whining has been going on but has anybody actually stopped trying?

Yes, I know of at least one.

"FreeBEES"? I think you've hit upon something there.

We're supposed to 'win' the Axon plot. However, by 'winning', we doom Earth.
Thats my guess.

If we theorize that the PMs want us to lose, then what happens if we all rally and make a final charge, and the counter abruptly starts zooming up toward the big tru777 h? The PMs would have to do something to prevent us from scoring the victory we're not supposed to score...but they've already made the goal public. We know the number is 777. So the easiest solution, push the goal further along, can't be done. They'd have to do something like have Melissa start asking "What is McKaskill's first name," something we definitely don't know (heck, a good portion of her real crew may not have known.) Such a cheap stunt would definitely produce the "dissention among gamers" that PSH spoke of.

Or, they could just start not giving the ring times for the phones - causing gamers to do steak-outs at the GPS locations.

I personally think the idea of a steak-out is great. We could do that while we stake out locations! (mmm....steak)
But seriously, I think this is a big possibility. I think that while we're going to end up having to hit 777 axons to move forward, I think we may miss out on certain sound clips, and therefore lose parts of the story. This makes us have to piece together dialogue puzzles without certain parts. That's the only way I can think of to keep SOME sort of urgency going with these axons anyway! But that's my thoughts... that regardless of what we accomplish, the axons change EVERY TUESDAY until we get 777!

I stopped trying after a few unsuccessful attempts at the Billings axon. Not worth my time.
