I agree that the Queen will trust us more, and the new stage of the game will begin when we hit 777. But my question is, will it begin immediately when we hit that mark, or are we going to have to wait til the next update, which could be a week later?

I really hope something visual or readable comes out of this (like a short film or a book). This story is really interesting and I would just dive into the whole story if it used visuals and audio and sequential events.

I know this is just an opinion, but I disagree completely. I think this form of storytelling is very new and exciting. when I finally figured out that this ilovebees website was, in fact, telling a story, I became glued to my laptop for close to 15 hours in two days (something I rarely do). as soon as I figured out the various methods of storytelling, I began to pour over archives and speculation, learning about all the various characters (this was pre-WAVs), and piecing together the story thus far.

as an aspiring feature-film director (aka "storyteller") with a few short films under my belt, I would love to tackle telling a story through an unconventional means such as this.

I had always hoped we'd be able to send in some computer code of our own. Maybe Dana will return from China in time to run console code, and we'll be able to !kindle Princess ->master-sector and !bite Flea and otherwise mess with the system.

If not, I hope the story threads get neatly tied together and a player profile name of ilovebees turns out to be a cheat code for Halo2. Hmm...the ilovebees hidden level?

My gut says that when it hits 777, the AI will repair itself. Right now, its a little confused, and doesn't know if the people she's talking to are her. Postulating that her job is to find out something, she'll repair herself when she believes she's with friends.

Say you're right. We get 777/777 axons. She thinks she's with friends/her crew, and repairs herself. As pointed out earlier, she's using crappy methods to make sure we're who she thinks we are. What happens if, on repair, she finds out that we're not her crew?

I say that she figures out we're not her crew, all hell breaks loose. Maybe she tries to mislead us. Admittedly, I'm rather new at this, but getting to 777 and everything being good seems too easy, too cut and dried. To me, if we get to 777, it's like a new "level" of a game, a definite ending to the last part, and new beginning to the next. And levels usually get harder, not easier. Easier would be her trusting us. Harder would be Melissa not trusting us, attempting to encrypt her information, and then perhaps making us gain her trust as she realizes that she can't contact her crew. We aren't her crew. Maybe later on they'll show up too, but it's definitely not us, and to not realize that would mean she has a lot more problems than we thought.

Or, harder could also be after getting to 777, Melissa fully repairs herself and thanks to the Flea's influence starts to do something very bad... and since we spent all our time helping her, it's our fault and we have to stop her. Heh.

I wonder what the 777th axon will say. Will it be the usual message or some "You are the 777th Axon, please claim your free trip to Bermuda at the desk" message?

Only time will tell....

Perhaps, by the 777 quota, she might be able to plot coordinates on approximate whereabout of her 'supposed' crewmembers reside? Or provide coordinates to the approximate location of her physical memory crystal(s)?

Or, maybe, when we hit 777 axons, Melissa will trust us enough to start releasing -important- information through the axons. Hopefully the PMs will show mercy and we'll shift away from running around answering phones but you never know.

If nothing else, it seems as though the stories that have been developed with Jan, Kamal and the others aren't going to be suddenly resolved when we hit 777. We have to get the endings of those stories some way or another, right?

I wonder just how far this story will stray from the beginning "i love bees" story with Dana and her Aunt. I know she updates her blog once-in-a-while, but it seems like she's a secondary character now. Is this just a PM device for a twist with Dana taking a bigger role later? Or is she really just not that important anymore?

the thing about that is...
Dana is just one of the voice actors. Jan and dana have the same voice. and if I rember correctlly, dana also has the same voice as some of the other female voices

Dana was always a secondary character, more-or-less. She has always been there to communicate with, except for whenever she first left, but she is more or less a tool (no pun intended) for us to advance in the game. Giving us tips, or possibly assisting us in this later on.

In everybody's favorite ARG of the past, The Beast, the plot began with a man found dead in his boat. The ARG began with the friends and family of that man, and ended with
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
a worldwide power struggle between humans and androids that was interrupted by a third-party threat of a sentient ...what were they, lichen? Something...

...anyway, my point is that there's precedent for an ARG to wind up covering a plot so vast that the intro event becomes quite minor in comparison. Dana and Margaret were but the on-ramp into a world of corrupted AIs, shadowy government plots, and misanthropic aliens from a distant star bent on our species' total annihilation.

Melissa's testing us to verify that we're her crew. Once verified, won't she start treating us like crew? Mission assignments, tactical and status briefings, performance reviews, you name it. I'd guess that everyone will get a rank and serial number, and start working on repairs and defense tactics ([META] in some game context; I don't think there's really a broken starship anywhere waiting for me to pull up in my Saturn and start turning wrenches...).

R.
