Re: Axon Mapper v0.1 Wow, what a response, thanks.

P.S. Quadtrees? They're not a very popular data structure with GIScience types anymore (many of my colleagues don't even know what they are), but they are very well applied here.
because of the way TerraServer supplies imagery, quadtrees are perfect for tracking occlusion (so that lower res tiles can be hidden once their higher res replacements have all loaded).

It shows all currently USEFUL axons. That means axons that are both cold, and in groups where the WAV hasn't been unlocked.

First of all, this is great.
But if we want to define USEFUL as anything that's gonna get us to the magic number 777, then cold axons on unlocked wavs are useful too...

I know you said you are doing something like this, but what if you have them in 3 categories:
Red: Axon NOT enhottenated, wav NOT enhottenated
Yellow: Axon NOT enhottenated, wav enhottenated
Green: Axon enhottenated, wav enhottenated
Not that it's all that important, but just a thought

New mapper with today's killer.jpg axons for next tuesday
(and the regular one automatically updated with the new recipe3 axons a few minutes after they were posted)

Idea: Seems to me Terraserver has color imagery for some areas of the country... is it possible to incorporate that or is it asking way way WAY too much? (considering everything that you've already done for us!)

If TerraServer provided a way to query for the presence of imagery it would be pretty easy to add. However, they don't provide a conclusive way of determining what imagery is available for a location and flash doesn't provide a nice way to determining whether a request resulted in success or failure.

thats, outstanding, inio! I hate to see it go away when ILB ends! Using your software is 1000x better than crawling around on mapquest or terraserver. With a little fine tuning and a couple new features, you could launch a whole site revolving around that little flash applet. Probably you would want to make it so users can enter their own GPS coords, but the panning controls are ingenious!
Seriously, you should adapt that to a purpose that goes beyond ILB. You could stick it on a page with a google ad and make a good deal of money.

It doesn't seem to work for me.
I get the inital fuzzy image and zooming only makes it a zoomed fuzzy image.
Some firewall issues perhaps?

recipe7 hasn't changed to the grouped appearance yet. As soon as it does its axons will appear on the normal mapper. Until then use futureaxons.
