The Seraph class reference from the Operator's memories

I know about this reference :

Quote:
...the quick hard twinkle pulse lasers blinking from a Seraph class as we settle, invisible as a leaf sinking into the Slipstream and carried away
from an early Operator memory.

And I know that the Grumpy Old Man talks about " the blast" that sent the Apocalypso into sublunar orbit and knocked out the comm chanel for the planet.

What I don't know is: are these related? where did the battle that the memory seems to refer to take place?

Was there really a blast?
If the Apocalypso wasn't at Reach when it fell, what blast?

I had assumed that the Apocalypso was at Reach and dropped into the slipstream to evade the Covenant's attack..

Now that timeline is known to be wrong, unless whatever happened to the Apocalypso also sent it back in time somehow, or unless I am wrong in assuming that the Apocalypso crashed right before Durga appears.

Ideas??

Rose, I took these to be more general... that is, the significance of being told that The Operator remembers what pulse lasers on a Covenant Seraph class ship look like is that we know that sometime in her naval career, Melissa has seen combat with the enemy.

Also, the Operator's memory of Reach is:

The Operator wrote:
drift off from station, Reach burning in the darkness like a lantern of hope, dockyard after dockyard buzzing with worker drones, someone crawling over the back doing detail work on the hull, the warm touch of a welding torch like little licks from a cat's tongue

I didn't take that to mean Reach was literally burning, as though it had just been glassed. I thought Melissa was taking some poetic license like she does by calling a welding torch "little licks from a cat's tongue". And if Reach had just been destroyed, how could she think of it as "burning in the darkness like a lantern of hope", and why would the dockyards be full? Again, I think the significance of this statement so early in the game was to prove to us that we're in the Haloverse and that The Operator had been on a ship at Reach at some point during her naval service.
