[PUZZLE] Guide the Sleeping Princess home

See this post for my conversation with the Princess. We need to figure out what those balloons mean and how to guide her home...let's get to it!

And here is our first puzzle: she said that after the first balloon, the path split into three: one balloon on each path. She said that there were markings on each balloon, and they read the following, in order:

HOLY TRUTH
FAITHFUL APOSTLES
DEADLY SIN

I say, go for the middle one. Just because she can always go back.

She can always go back, right?

Well, there are four holy truths of buddhism, eleven faithful apostles, and seven deadly sins.

4 holy truths
11 faithful apostles
7 deadly sins

My first question is. should we decide which path she should take and tell her this. or do we need to find these paths ourselves? (They don't work as wav files).

[Spec]
HOLY TRUTH - Melissa (seek the truth)
FAITHFUL APOSTLES - the beekeepers (aren't we faithful
DEADLY SIN - The pious Flea (attaching to the flea would be the sin? Or this could easily be swapped with the holy truth)

There may be a bit of misdirection in referencing the Deadly Sins, but remember that we may be dealing with Bungie or some other source that believes the number 7 to be significant.

Sins

Well, let's start with this one:
DEADLY SIN

There are seven deadly sins:
greed, gluttony, lust, sloth, wrath, envy and pride.

Perdita certainly seemed to be guilty of pride (vanity) for her looks. Maybe she was greedy as well, wanting those red balloons so much. Melissa seems pretty ready to hand out punishment--wrath here?

HOLY TRUTH

Not sure much about this, except that Melissa is attempting to reveal the truth.

FAITHFUL APOSTLES

11 faithful apostles of christ are one possibility, but I can't remember all the names myself. Someone else want to chime in here?

All three of these have religious connotations. Influence of the Pious Flea?

What do we know

What do we know about the Covenant's religous beliefs? Do they have a single supreme being? A Multitude of beings? - though this is probably going down the wrong track.

Here's something to think of: what is the worst deadly sin? aka what is the root of all evil?

Does one of the Holty Truths sit above all others?

Lastly is any one of the Faithful Apostles trusted more than the others?

Obviously other questions could be asked of each of the three phrases.

Edit: added the following question
Can we be sure that the other major religions didn't have groups of people refered to as the Faithful Apostles, though I agree that it may refer to the 11, I just don't want to leave any avenue of information out of the discussion.

I don't have much time, so simply: I got the call, talked to the SP, had her follow the balloons, and find the generator.

Then we came to the three paths. Tried "Faithful Apostles" (after much hemmin' and hawin'), but she just starting screaming, then Operator came back. I *really* wanted to try Deadly Sins (the law of exceptions and all 'o that), but didn't. Ugh.

So, let's start with what we know: those balloons were definitely put there by the Flea, or perhaps that part of Melissa that is under the Flea's influence. So the question is this: do we trust them? If it were the Flea, it would definitely head towards Holy Truth, since that is its entire programming, and it would shy away from Deadly Sin as a matter of course...but what a Covenant considers Deadly Sin might be just what the Sleeping Princess is looking for.

Freedom, for instance.

Or maybe not. Is there any other significance to these phrases? Are they anagrams, perhaps?

04-11-07. November 7th, 2004? Don't know how that lends to one of the paths....

Twelve apostles: Simon Peter, Andrew, James, John, Phillip (sp), Thomas, Matthew, James (son of Alphaeus), Thaddeus, Bartholomew, Simon (the zealot), and of course, the unfaithful Judas.

Hope it helps.

Well, the first one says that all existence is suffering. Not sure about the others...

My gut reaction would be to guess "DEADLY SINS," just because this is Bungie and there are seven of them. When in doubt...

Peter was the unofficial "leader" of the apostles, Andrew was called first, and Peter, James, and John were the "inner circle" who were closest to Jesus.

Yep. At least that's what I thought she said. I generator and a transmission tower, covered in "weasels?" That led into the paths/balloons question.

T'was a busy street.
