Agreed. I'm afraid I'll just have to ignore the other guy, as I really can't be bothered translating his messages.

Anyway, back to the topic. I think the spec is interesting, but I believe that if we are going to see differing Spartans in the Halo 2 multiplayer it would be more likely to be John, Fred, Linda etc rather than the characters from the axon story. That's my two cents anyway, I'm certainly open to debate on the matter. Very Happy

no u Censored r gonna listen cuz there is no set way to type if there was then people who made forum index wouldnt take the same shortcuts i did.

unforum Index -> ARG: The Haunted Apiary (Let Op!) -> The Haunted Apiary (Let Op!): General/Updates -> [META][SPEC] ILB as H2 Multi-Player Pretext

hence the H2, i dont know wut that means also i dont no wut Let Op is either or spec for that matter. can someone plz tell me. becuz by ur rules u wouldnt know wut that meant either or u would find it so offensive that u would ask the moderator to change it.

WUTS ILB

[EDIT: language (see TOS) -vpi]

Either way, I think I'd have a problem with seeing any of these characters "die," even if they were to be "reborn." Call me crazy, call me "too attached", or call me emotional, but I don't wanna see any of them (John, Fred, Linda, Jan, Kamal or even Aiden!) get shot. Although Thin could certainly take a bullet, as far as I care. ^_^

I'm sorry, thanks for playing. Wanna is defined in the dictionary as:

wan·na ( P ) Pronunciation Key (wän)
Informal
Contraction of want to: You wanna go now?
Contraction of want a: You wanna slice of pie?

Now, please, grow up.

LOLZ!!1!1 ITrulyAmGarbage pwn3d u guyz! LOLZ!1!!11

Seriously though, the idea of a story behind a multi-player setting is foreign to me. I've only understood multi-player to be a way to blast the stuffing out of your friends. I think it's more likely some of these characters will pop up in the single player campaign. As what? Who knows? I hope we start getting information to link these people together once that infernal counter hits 777.

I dunno if this'll help any, but here's my two cents on the subject.

It's a forum. You have time to write out a well thought out response, use grammar, punctuation, and all that other fun stuff that makes it nice and easy to read. A chat room, you might not possibly have enough time to do so, which is a good reason to use the style of typing that you choose to use. But, a forum, you can take time to make the posts more legible, and easier for all to read. Typing in, as you call it, 'shortcuts' is just confusing, and it makes the threads go spinning off course, like this one has. Some of us don't spend all day reading. Some of us like to come here, and have a discussion, or read discussions, with other people, who seem to talk like they have something to say that can be backed up with proof, and are willing to accept others ideas on the subject. It's nice to not have to decipher what people are saying, and if people continually have to do that, the person posting those messages is most likley going to get ignored. You're saying you have some good ideas to share. That's great! Post them somewhere relevent. Show us that these ideas are good ones. But, any idea posted in your 'shortcuts' is more likely than not to be regarded as compleate bunk, because of the fact that it's not in legible english, spanish, french, or what ever the language of your choice is. It's just a bit hard to respect a person that, when posting on a forum, dosn't take the time to type out what they want to say in something that makes it easy for people to read. Your 'shortcuts' are not what people on this forum are used to. Maybe on the other forums you visit, people are used to that, but almost no one uses those 'shortcuts' on this one. So please, type it in proper english, and you'll get respect, and suitable responses to your ideas. It's not that your posts arn't good enough for us, it's that they're not respectable. Usually, the type of 'shortcuts' that you use are connected to the type of person who claims to be an 'uber-leet hacker', a troll, or a person who just thinks they know everything in the world, is better than everyone else, and no one can tell them what to do. I'm not saying you're any of those, it's just the leaps to judgement that the mind makes when one sees posts in the 'shortcuts' that you use.

I don't think history is behind your SPEC. I believe with both Project Mu and the Beast, there was no direct tie-in between the game and the movies. Granted that ILB is completely new in a whole lot of ways and we don't know for sure, I'm merely point out that historically, ARGs are intended to be self-contained but tangentially related to the material that they are designed to promote.

It's accepted SPEC at this point that ILB is designed to promote Halo2 because of the link presented in the Halo2 trailer that was seen in theatres, and the subject matter.

I suppose it could be possible, but I and others are doubtful.

You're probably right. But in my head I already have the story worked out that had Durga and Jersey bringing about chaos on Earth leaving Jan and Kamal (Hiro, being the mental giant he is, gets crushed by a landing Covenant ship) to help Master Chief save the universe. And since I thought it, it HAS to be true, right? Er...right? Anybody...hello?

LOVE the bolded part! Hahah!

Anyway, I don't know, I don't really want to see any of these characters in Halo2. It would feel weird to be running around as Master Chief and then have to go contact Kamal and have him do a hack, or contact Jersey and have his computer-friend do your taxes for you...

"I can make the covanent owe YOU money. How's that sound?" =P That'd be... interesting to encounter. ^_^;;; I can just imagine a grunt coming up with a whole bundle of money to you. Possibly, though, since they all seem to be recruited by some person or another (minus jersey...) they might be characters that we run into during the defence of earth? Like, Jan could be another spartan, what's her face (the one who becomes a spy) could be giving us info in a mission briefing, Kamal could... erm... I dunno. Maybe he has some as of yet unnamed purpose that'll be important, as well as Jersey? Or, Durga could be the important character in that storyline, being a new AI in the game, possible aiding us along with Cortana? They all could be intro'd during the game this way, and make for an interesting little in-joke for us beekeepers, as well.

Well, I wasn't thinking of anything that crazy...it's just like some of you have said, though..."I thought the only motivation you need is to blast the stuffing out of your friends."

That was the common thought when Doom was king. We see now what happened when Marathon was made. Multiplayer is ripe for the picking.

I suppose this spec compliments those who say keep all ideas in-game somewhat...my point is that if you decide before you write your spec that this ARG ends with the covies finding Earth as a result of our actions, you may not even give some really relevant specs a second thought. It would be useful to consider other endings to our story as we formulate spec. "This ARG will make a backstory to H2 multiplayer," is just one possible end; it is an end that leaves totally different directions open when compared to the, "Covies find Earth" end.

At any rate, we should be making specs that only rely on in-game knowledge (exactly what many in this community have been crying since the day it started converging with Halo2), while using haloverse knowledge for background. I guess I'm just saying, lets avoid relying on a presupposition that the game ends with H2's single player. Dig?
