I know that spike is usually associated with the rise of something or the rise and fall of something. (Think like spiking a volleyball). So maybe it means authorized personnel be ready for a rendevouz or meeting (maybe connection) of an increase in axons.
My guess is we get more axons, but they'll already be hot meaning they're ready for the whole story (of Jan, Jersey, and Kamal) to connect. Of course this would have to be after the recipe 1 axons.
Does this make any sense or am I missing anything?

The Operator thinks xnbomb is a crew member. He must have answered the 778th phone.

Notice how on_reach went hot the same time as the 3rd cochlear_tuning axon.
xnbomb must've answered that 3rd one.
from the bungie forums: "my guess is that the continue option is now open. before if someone tried to continue when after the message it would say you didn't have clearance or something like that. my guess is that you can continue it then ask you to say or type in your name or something like that. [SPEC] If the "continue" option is now available, does this mean that the people whom Mellisa recognizes as her crew (Xnbomb and whoever else answers) will now have direct access to her? It's possible that we might actually be able to get some answers from Melissa herself through them.

That was my guess too: the "axon spike" occurs when we reach the threshhold and unlock an audio clip.
So I guess now the game is "be the nth caller and you win an assignment to the ghost ship Apocalypso." Get your name in the logbooks.

yeah, it's definitely not based on who unlocks the file, I'm beginning to lean towards the speculation that the people who answered the most are getting their names posted.
I'm not sure about xnbomb, but I know mike has answered quite a few.
EDIT: Payday just went live so there might of just been a delay between the two being avaliable. I guess we'll find out when mike was gets back...

the operator never asked for their names in any previous phone calls. how would she know who has answered the most?

xnbomb said in #beekeepers that he was talking to a live Melissa, not a recording...

Could somebody do me an enormous favour and post a link to where this crew listing is coming up? I'm at work, and the firewall isn't too happy with ILB... if I randomly thrash through the site I'll probably have it closed to me here.
A direct link would be greatly appreciated.

Agreed.
Alternately, the names supplied are the people who sent email, or people who have contributed the most to the ILB game solution here on the forums (or on other forums).
There's nothing to say that the PM's haven't pre-selected these names.
