- Melissa has never directly referred to 'rogue' until now. Whether this refers to 'rogue proc' or not, is uncertain.

When I spoke with Melissa, she specifically talked about the 'rogue process' and about someone (?) 'spying on her.'

Based on other recaps, I think she might said the rogue process was spying on her.

Considering the PF's influence over Melissa, this makes sense.

Or, fFor that matter, the manticore. Or one of a thousand other possibilities.

But the Manticore was slain at the beginning. Classic corrupt-file-gets-deleted scenario. It almost sounds like her firewall was damaged, so it was removed.

it bothers me when people keep bringing up the manticore Razz it was a minor character, it was named the manticore for the sake of the allegory... it no longer exists...

anyway, yeah, so the rogue (proc) identity is still up in the air.

including Dana, for thoroughness' sake. I don't know if I buy it myself, especially given Dana's waning presence in the game, but it's still a possibility.

about the SP

I am sure you are correct about this as we haven't had other dialogues with her. None of the interactions with the SPDR or the Flea that we have seen show Melissa labeling the SP or the Flea as the rogue.

For all we know she could mean the person McKaskill was sending a message to when she blocked it.

But, my best guess is that it is the SP. Smile

For completeness I include the other places where Melissa makes reference to other entities:

"an intruder, something inhabiting the system" - from the memory in which Melissa alerts the Captain to the virus [pre-crash]

"give the ghost of myself a voice and use it. Mayday, Mayday, Mayday. " - from the about page when she was going "wide awake and physical"
[post-crash]

"(The young stage of a bee found him, the clever one, adrift on a wine-dark sea, but I can't remember her name)- from the same source as above. [post-crash]

edit: I replied to the above post from thebruce (which I found from searching for unread posts) before I saw which thread this was in, I don't know if this belongs here, but I guess I will leave it.

So then! She went on about seeking revenge over a rogue process that's spying on her, and getting in her way. She referred to this rogue process as a "she" or "her," and then asked me, "Do you know anything about this rogue process?" and I said, "I'm not sure I do!" and she said, "Good," and then very calmly and yet angrily she told me she was going to get revenge on this rogue process.

...

Emphasis mine

Krystyn's post is the only one I've seen so far where Melissa uses GENDER to describe the the rogue process. In all the other posts I've read Melissa talks about the rogue process but gives no hints/gender or anything else. I think people may be assuming that because Melissa referred to the rogue proc as her in the above post, that she means the Sleeping Princess. The SPs assumed gender is female, but so could the flea's. I don't know if that was a slip up, but at this point it's split 50/50 between the SP and PF as being the rogue proc. Or some other proc that we don't know about yet Smile

the Operator has referred to other entities in her monologue. the spider and then there's that brother we don't talk too much about:

Quote:
and I'm...
playing on the beach, very young, making a castle out of sand. It's a good castle, I'm smart, I'm really smart and I'm good with my hands and the castle is beautiful but the tide is coming up, I'm making dikes and moats and outer walls, getting a little desperate here this castle means the world to me it's way better than my brother's, but the tide is rising and rising, the tide is always coming up and no matter how hard I try to save what I have made, sooner or later the spiders wash over it and melt it down I'm losing the memory already I can't see myself was I wearing a dress or overalls or ...? There's a boy on the beach next to me but a wave comes up foaming with spiders and takes away his face-
oh.
we're made of sand.
we're both made of sand.
uh-oh.

has there been any half decent speculation as to who this brother is?

and overalls? ronnie mentions overalls, too...

a bit off the main topic, i know, but on the sub-topic.

I've heard a rumor that some people may be claiming to be "confirmed crew" but are in fact not.

Please do not hesitate to withhold information from me until my name appears somewhere on ILB to confirm my credentials. I would (and am) doing the same.

I find it interesting that Melissa talks about its freedom from the Spider's influence, even though it should think that the PF is just an upgraded version of the SPDR process.

Here's the SPEC:
The PF, to Melissa, is a version of the SPDR that doesn't stick it with needles and the other unpleasantries that caused it to wish pain upon the SPDR's creators. This isn't exactly what I'd consider a 'rogue process'. On the contrary, the second the Widow was out of the way, Melissa was more than happy to take up the Flea's mantra as its own.

Survive, Escape, Reveal, Escape.

---The Adam, resistance is pointless

Check the "report" page. I don't blame Lt. Weephun at all. And I know our time will come.

Since I was the person who handed the phone to him (unwittingly forfeiting my own chances), I can vouch for Mazian talking to Melissa. He would have to be some fantastic actor if he was only pretending. If that is the case, he should quit his day job. Razz

I could also get R. from the axon I was at to vouch for me, since I believe he's now registered at this forum.

It seems as though it's only ilovebees.com that seems to be 'official' at this point, though. And so, it's only the peeps listed with the special 'seeking' axons.
