Ok, I'm assuming this thread is for discussion of those compiled wavs.... Is it just me or does this sound like Jan, but with a new accent we haven't heard before? I'm almost sure it's not Jan, except I'm certain its the same voice actor... (I know, I know... this sure sounds like another trouty conversation had previously, but I can't shake this one...)

So anyone else concur with me?

My point exactly, Sherpa! It sounds like Jan is the one who "uncovered" the "recruiter", right? But the rest of it sounds like a southern-type Jan-alike... (STJA )

I'm just wondering if this is truly a new character or not? (we never get a name throughout the wavs, except for who she's talking to on the phone...) which tells me we're supposed to (1) not know, or (2) it is someone we've already met and should know by voice.

I'm just not getting the connections here...

It sounds A LOT like Jan ... I don't believe they would use the same voice actor for two different characters.

So the new characters:

Ronni, Trevor, Professor Avey (?), the "Boston Thug", and Ronni's friend(?) from Kentucky.

[meta] I'm sure that Ronni and Janissary are done by the same actor. If she's not supposed to be Jan I kinda wish they hadn't used the same actress. Her voice is so distinct that I can't get it in my head that I'm listening to Ronni instead of Janissary.

Perhaps Ronnie is the human template from which Durga is created. Both Ronnie and Durga do like to find things out, and if you remove the accent and age the voice a bit, Durga and Ronnie do sound a lot alike.

Since Ronnie is joining up with ONI she could easily come into contact with the department of the UNSC that is building AIs. Perhaps Ronnie is killed in the line of duty and then her brain is used to create Durga. It is also possible that her brain was simply cloned for the purpose of creating an AI, but that procedure seems to be the exception, not the rule. (also, I imagine, more costly)

info here about AI creation if anybody is interested.

As usual I could be way off base, but there has to be a good reason why these files were hidden so carefully. Melissa/Durga's origin could be a damn good reason.
