[OT/SPEC] GI Jane- Durga connection

I was watchng the movie GI Jane last night. It is a movie where the first woman enters the Navy SEALs. They do all this training and ####. At first she is disliked because they dont want a woman in their "elite" sqaud. But then, as the movie progresses, she becomes liked by her fellow squad mates.
Anyways, they go on a training routine called S.E.R.E. Training. It stands for "Survival Evasion Resistance Escape Training". I just thought it was weird.

Anyone see this movie and I know that it is obviously out of game but does anyone see any other connections?

In Real Life(tm), every solider wishing to join the Special Forces branch of the U.S. Army must go through Survival Training at SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape) School.

(From the Fireflies Wiki, back when I had waaaaaaay too much free time.)

Survival training (I think it's even the same SERE, but don't quote me on that) is also given to combat air crew in all branches of the Armed Forces. "Combat" includes reconnaisance and rescue, by the way... they go behind enemy lines too.

-- Steve's glad he didn't have to take SERE. Kinda sorry, too.

I had a friend who was in the Navy, he had a number of very amusing stories about it.

They involved things like; just how hard it is to kill and aardvark, how aardvarks "taste like belt", and living under a bridge for three days...
