While you are about, hunting for this axon, could you possibly find a phone
that has light traffic, get the # and details on it's location (landmarks and
nearest address) and PM them to me?

A phone that is preferably above ground and off the beaten path.

Thanks.

NB: The addresses of the phones are actually written in the phone box, which is handy.

You want a map of where the coordinates lead to? Click here!

As for how far from the coordinates phones have been, I really couldn't answer that, sorry.

If the question is 'what's my favorite game' the answer is 'hide and seek'. If the question is 'what's your captain's name' the answer is 'Greene'. We're not really sure which it will be, but it should be one or the other.

. . . . it's unlikely that we'll ever get a live call, but in the event, I vote we name ourselves 'Team Pint of Bitter'.

I can head out to the station on monday to see if I can catch the call. Maybe we should organise a publicity stunt like FFJ? Get more people answering phones.

Some friends are trying to get me to come down to London for a demonstration in a while, if she hasn't gone hot by then, I'll certainly be willing to turn up at the phone that day and give it a go.

Looks like Melissa just cancelled our axon, team. . . . .

Am I sad or relieved? I can't tell.

Check out hives.html. Looks like we can still get an Axon in London (well you can, I'm moving in a few hours and won't be able to get online for a while *sob*)

Some crew members have reached me through an unsecure but useable voice channel to leave more secure contact numbers. Crew members unable to make axon rendezvous should expect to leave name, rank, and some proof of loyalty to be considered for future transmissions.
Alternately, crew members unable to reach current axons may submit an axon for potential rendezvous. They will need to verify that it can accept inbound transmissions, and send me its physical coordinates, and a photograph that clearly displays its number. Crew members may muster at such potential axons for training exercises.

Fun for some!

- Malrog should be getting ready to move

Ok I think we need to be organised about this, and put our heads together to co-ordinate which a payphone(s) to submit to Melissa. I think we have a much better chance of success if we pick one or two potential axons and send in one request each, than if we all send in the details of different phones.

So we have to:
* Pick an payphone
* Find out its EXACT GPS co-ords
* Photograph it with its number showing (possibly requires a board or sticker with the number on it, or something to hide the business cards from escorts if we are in central london Wink )

As far as picking a phone goes, I'd suggest the following criteria as a starting point:

* Somewhere in or near central london (not up in enfield or anywhere which takes ages to get to).. off one of the main tube lines preferably.. so as many of us can get there as possible.
* (conversely) somewhere not too busy with tourists, etc. This shouldn't be too much of an oxymoron since there are plenty of fairly quiet roads around (eg) Tottenham Ct Road or Euston. I'm not sure which of these have payphones though, since It's been a while since I was there.
* (similar to above) somewhere with enough space for a throng of nerds to gather without disrupting traffic or causing a terrorist alert Razz

I'm thinking maybe somewhere like Hyde Park?

I'm happy to go wherever we decide and take photos/GPS readings at the weekend, if necessary... although if someone who lives closer wants to volunteer, that's ok too Very Happy

Discuss.

yeah that makes sense, Oecumenix, and make sure that everything is put here so that as many UK axon hunters as possible can get there...me in particular Laughing

NOW she's going to listen to our emails?

. . . . ah well. I'm a fan of picking something around Euston, if only because I work right there and could make it. I also think picking a time is as important as picking a place. An earlier call time would be better for me, but I'm sure a later call time would be a lot better for other hunters coming in from outside London.

I don't think we get to pick the time.. just give a suggestion for the axon. The time will probably get chosen to fit in with the PMs' mystic schedule.

Can you have a scout around Euston for any suitable payphones? I reckon there must be some on Goodge St, and it's not a super-busy road.. but I work in Cambridge so can't make it up town until the weekend. Weekdays might also be a bit quieter, if we're going to be ringing payphones to see if they work.

Did someone just try to ring me? I got a phone call from a London number but did not pick it up in time, and the caller left no message.
