I would seriously suggest you dress neatly like a technician might and bring a lot of "Out of Order" signs. Hang them on the phones about five minutes before axon time.

Cubicgarden suggested police tape yesterday. Piccadilly Circus though, always has a cop or two wandering around, so it's a novel idea and a wonderful way to get arrested.

Safe from harassing phonecalls, sure. Things like bank records, on the other hand. . . Ah, alas that it would be out of character to explain to Melissa things like 'immigration records' and 'interpol'. Now there'd be a plot twist.

. . . . Actually, does anyone know if you can even get live calls over the secret axons? We've only got two phones in the bank we haven't checked. It might be worth it leaving them until Tuesday and seeing if the PMs feel like being nice.

It is worth a shot, but I would not hope too much for it.

I'm pretty sure that none of the recipe3 axons have been called with a live call. There's also a very solid in-game reason for this, in that Melissa wasn't broadcasting them to us, she was keeping them to herself, to prevent Durga from hearing them. Quite why we had to authenticate on them though is probably the biggest plothole to date, but I'll let it slide, given that the storyline has been pretty damn good so far.

- Malrog is slightly happier, he has a cool avater, and is also, apparently, a veteran (when did that happen!)

I feel the pain! We had 7 people and there was no way we could keep people away from the phones except to look really mean and lie to people that your expecting a call. (One guy actually asked me how I could be expecting a call on 2 phones).

As Bcriswell says, lets try one more day and leave it at that. But I cant make it tomorrow due to finishing working at 6. I'll keep an eye on the RSS, if you guys get low on numbers, I may duck out of work early.

The important thing I wanted to say was the ringing. As the phones usually post a message saying "lift reciever." I think we may be spending too much effort keeping people off the phones that we dont keep an eye the screens.

Oh by the way theres a private call place about 5 meters away from the payphones but there super certain that they dont accept incoming calls. Can someone check with them again...

Can I also suggest someone actually calls the phone and asks the person if it rings or how they knew to pick up the phone. The station is so busy and noisy I dont think if it rings we would hear it unless you have enough people.

By the way dont consider taping up phones because usually there is police down there and theres two CCTV cameras down there pointing directly in that area. As someone else said, they could have picked somewhere a lot more reasonable.

I checked this on Saturday with my mobile. It does ring. I did not think to check the screen, but it probably did change.

A suggestion

This might be a lame idea, but it is an idea nonetheless. It probably won't work, but if the PMs do read any of these (especially Malrog's Censored post Wink ), then perhaps it will.

One of you Londoners find a convenient payphone, check to see that it accepts an incoming call, and take down the phone number. Then post it in this thread with lots of circles and arrows Arrow Arrow pointing to the number, maybe even throw in a chart or a graph, and clever quips to entice the PMs to USE that phone number. Put down the latitude and longitude coordinates too, in order to make your axon location blend in with all the others. They don't even have to be correct coordinates, as long as the PMs use them and the phone number you provide, then it would all work out swimmingly, don't you think?

Getting Started on the Graph

Just to show my support, I have started on a graph to show our benevolent PMs how critical heatable London axons are:

It is low res right now since I don't have access to decent graphics software, but you get the idea...

And if it is shown on a graph, it MUST be TRUE!!!

Very persuasive evidence, ariock. I think we need another chart -- negative product impressions in critical European market caused by axon difficulties. Wink

I think hmrpita's idea is the best but would take it a step further.

Since it appears that Melissa now has access to Dana's email I would send
the information there. Add a little role-playing though.

Example:

Operator, repeated attempts to reunite with crew have failed.
Be advised, current rendevous point located in hostile territory.
10:07 PDT (51.509997 -000.134800)
Threat level: High. Likely Success: 0%.
Personnel have established perimeter at the following location:
Insert info here
Contact can be made at established time of 10:07 PDT.
Please be advised, without adjustments to location, personnel will
not reunite with crew.

I love the letter, but in-character emails were sent by both Malrog and myself to both Dana and the SP for the Dean Street Axons, detailing locations, numbers, dialing instructions from the U.S.A. . . . . if the PMs aren't even going to listen to us to check their details, I can't see them moving the axon just because we asked.

Not that I doubt you but here's a few questions:

1. Were your emails directed to Melissa and was it after her gaining access to
Dana's mailbox? Theoretically, it wasn't until Friday that we had a way to
direct information to Melissa.

2. Assuming that your answers were both yes and yes, were they formatted
as in-character informational reports or as a request for help or S.O.S.?

No, these were Dean Street so it was before Friday, when the Axon changed.

And both answers were no. My emails were just chatty updates telling them how it was going here. I described the location, the shop selling pointy knives next door, the gay bar on the corner, how one of the phone numbers ended in '1337'. . . stuff like that. In-character, it was just some gossip for Dana and something to entertain the Princess with. But included purposely in those emails were all the details the PMs needed to contact the Dean Street phones.

Thinking on it, moving the location may not help.

For the previous axon we tried the five most likely datums, but only the one that gave us Dean Street address had phones at the location. We're using the same mapping sites to find the Piccadilly phones, and again, there's phones right at the location. I don't think the problem is that we can't find the right coordinates, I think the problem is something about the way the PMs are dialing the phones is going wrong.

I know we've tried calling the phones from the U.S. ourselves, but have we ever tried doing that while blocking caller I.D.? That's the only thing I can think of right now.
