Most people do not consider either the Flea or the SDPR to be AIs. The SPDR seemed to be an autonomic process, a "reflex" if you will, allowing Melissa's shattered code to reform into something resembling what it once was.

And, I hate to bring this up, because I believe it's trout, but search did not reveal anything.

I think we can definitely say that the Pious Flea sent the 9/24 e-mail. The text where she and Melissa confronts one another is bracketed by
"!access log extern proc 0", and the e-mail even begins with "!seek Princess fail".

It would appear that the Flea sent us the log of what happened, per her Highness's final request.
<wild idle speculation>
Unless, of course, the Princess is hiding as the Flea.
</wild idle speculation>

Just like how we could tell the widow's story was written by the SP because she accessed the log. Also, he !dsc's SP's e-mail (the unk transmit proc) beforehand, so he would have used the opportunity.

If the princess was hiding as the flea, it would be the most brilliant plan ever - who would suspect you if you spent all your time looking for yourself? Unfortunately the chances of that are, to put it lightly, minimal. But if it is...

rec?? any idea what he could have found?

That was "recurse". He entered a loop of constant seeking.

See now, from a non-programmer's point of view, I saw recurse as, cursing over and over again.

As in "Damnit, Damnit, Damnit!"

Welcome, Phaedra. Glad to have you with us. I think I can answer a couple of the questions you may have.

1) I do not believe the Sleeping Princess as Forerunner AI has been ruled out or definitively proved; however, my impression is that popular opinion is for it.

2) The Covenant are, indeed, very religious -- to whit, even their AI's use language heavy with terms like "heresy". The fact that the Pious Flea's mantra "that is the law and the whole of the law" is so similar to the kind of language that the Covenant AI uses in "First Strike" is one of the main reasons why so many follow the theory of Pious Flea as Covenant AI.

3) I'm not sure about your idea of the Flea developing a religious language -- it seems that, if anything, is language is shaped by his *current* environment, rather than this "religious upbringing", so to speak. To whit: "creepy" and "splotch" are the only words I am aware of that have been added to his vocabulary. I would like to add that what you theorize is what we would expect, and everyone seems surprised that he is seemingly being influenced by the Princess in the way we have seen. Perhaps this is another point of evidence that the Princess is Forerunner AI...after all, the Covenant worship the Forerunners, and all of their technology (including their software) is stolen or copied from Forerunner tech.

4) No one knows for sure why she came to this site yet. Your theories are as plausible as anyone's.

Remember Durga "stung" Jeannie - Jersey's avatar?

Durga states that bees die after stinging. However, there is an exception.
Queen bees do NOT die after stinging. In fact, the very first thing they do after maturing is stinging all the other larval queens in the hive!
So if Durga is related to the queen/Mellisa/The Operator, she would have "stung" and killed the other queen bee, Jeannie.

He's also still learning. Add "friends" to the list.
