Theory on SP getting back dealy...

Ok. So this is my first post. Sorry if its in the wrong place.

Given the recent email from the SP. Which is telling us that to rescue her we need to call out her name while the Operator/Queen "Breaks down." I have come up with the following idea.

So the "Breaking Down" thing is when the Queen/Operator starts mumbling "I love Bees" over and over again. There is a page on www.ilovebees.com (the hives page: http://www.ilovebees.com/hives.html ) that plays a loop of the Operator/Queen/Melissa saying "I Love Bees" over and over again.

This page could have some potential in getting the SP back. The Queen constantly "breaks down" on it. I think this might hold some promise. Please post some of your ideas and SPEC in here. I hadn't seen this anywhere else so i thought i would bring it up to speculate on. Very Happy

I have a question. On the honey page where the flea has a bunch of stuff popping up and the Princess says "Ignore the flea. Play with me instead! Making a mistake is a good way to start." What clue did that line lead to? What mistake did we have to make at that point in the game? I'm noticing this because when Melissa captures her, she says "Sometimes a mistake is the last thing you make". Was this just sarcastic or will this lead us to something else?

Hmm, that's an interesting point. The "mistake" the Sleeping Princess was referring to was with a URL on the ilovebees.com site - if you put in a bogus address, you'd get the 404 page where she talked to us. Without any further info, I'd say that Melissa was implying the 404 page was the last "mistake" the Sleeping Princess was going to make, but it could conceivably lead elsewhere.

One thing that's been bothering me about the axon calls, is the need for the "Continue" voice comand. It's the same everytime. You say continue, you get that cacaphony of ilovebees madness, then it stops. But the line does not go dead right away. I had a failed live call with Melissa and as soon as she was done with me, the line went dead instantly. With the recorded axons, you get a good 8-9 sec of silence after the final "ilovebees" before you hear a 'click' and the line goes dead. Could this be what the princess means, "when she falls apart" ? I wonder what would happen if we said her name during that silence after the saying continue. Won't know until we try it on Tues, I guess; unless someone is going for the new recipe3 axons. It's worth a try.

I think this is excellent and makes a lot of sense! I will try it Tuesday and let everyone know if it works.

If the first "mistake" generated an HTTP error, how about trying to get the server to generate another HTTP error? The last in the series of HTTP error codes is 505 HTTP version not supported. Could try downloading Proxomitron to hijack your browser's HTTP request to declare version 600 or something, and see what happens.

[UPDATE]No such luck on the fake HTTP versioning attempt.

Or, better yet, check that page's (and the reconstructions of that page's) pictures for new word games to play.

Unless you guys have seen "small that" and "even the widow," in CUTEBEE2.GIF before (not to mention "Keep to lay low" in figure.jpg). In which case, trout me.

Edit: Trout [/strike]

Did anyone think to check SSL for the bees?

I was looking at the URL format for the audio clips, it being http://transmit.ilovebees.com/outbound/on_reach.wav, for example. So, I noticed the subdomain of transmit and attempted a directory browse on the outbound folder, which of course, I was denied on. But, then I got to thinking about how they might upload data and make changes. If anyone works extensively with IIS, microsoft uses Webdav rather than HTTP, whereby you 'open as a web folder' the URL http://transmit.ilovebees.com, except that you must use SSL for webdav, which is https://transmit.ilovebees.com Now, while I was not able to connect (not surprised) I was surprised to find out that there IS an SSL certificate on this subdomain. (There is not one on ilovebees.com parent domain.) So, below is the information out of the SSL certificate, in case it is of any value to anyone. Note: SSL service seems to not be running on the server, due to the error Service Unavailable: The server is temporarily unable to service your request. Please try again later, when you attempt to use SSL on the site.

This certificate is a client authentication certificate. Apparently they use a cert to authenticate a remote computer that makes it autorized to access the directory structure of the site... Perhaps if anyone knows how to emulate or hack this so their computer could be authenticated....

I am attaching the certificate file. It was issueed to a248.e.akamai.net

Keep me updated all you resourceful and creative SSL certificate people!

A quick follow-up

Hi everyone, just a quick follow up. I attempted DNS resolution of the akamai.net domain to no avail. I did however, get a whois lookup on the site. If you would like to see the full whois data, click the below link;

http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.chip=akamai.net&server=whois.opensrs.net&email=on

It is registered in cambridge, MA, and it appears to be a real company.. I called the telephone number and got a company directory.. ? So, I guess this is a dead end?? Just not sure how Akamai technology company is involved, unless they are behind the operators voice recognition technology or perhaps even hosting the servers?

They're from the widow's story - bad luck, vidstudent.

I rather think you're barking up the wrong tree here. This is way waaaaay more indepth then any of the other puzzles we've encountered so far.

When I first came here looking for information about the ILB site (which was not very long before the fist set of axons went live), people were obsessed with hacking Melissa's voice mail. But there was nothing there for them to find, and it got to be a real problem.

While all of the information you've given here is very interesting, I don't think this is a road we're meant to go down.

Akamai does cache flow stuff for web apps/servers/hosting.

They've been around for a while - I even have an old Akamai t shirt from when I used to work for a dot-bomb that used them for their clients' cache needs.

OOG, IMO. Smile

Something I didn't already see here..... Any Help ?

Aurora and Tithonus

Aurora, the goddess of the Dawn, like her sister the Moon, was at
times inspired with the love of mortals. Her greatest favorite
was Tithonus, son of Laomedon, king of Troy. She stole him away,
and prevailed on Jupiter to grant him immortality; but forgetting
to have youth joined in the gift, after some time she began to
discern, to her great mortification, that he was growing old.
When his hair was quite white she left his society; but he still
had the range of her palace, lived on ambrosial food, and was
clad in celestial raiment. At length he lost the power of using
his limbs, and then she shut him up in his chamber, whence his
feeble voice might at times be heard. Finally she turned him
into a grasshopper.

Memnon was the son of aurora and Tithonus. He was king of the
AEthiopians, and dwelt in the extreme east, on the shore of
Ocean. He came with his warriors to assist the kindred of his
father in the war of Troy. King Priam received him with great
honors, and listened with admiration to his narrative of the
wonders of the ocean shore.

The very day after his arrival, Memnon, impatient of repose, led
his troops to the field. Antilochus, the brave son of Nestor,
fell by his hand, and the Greeks were put to flight, when
Achilles appeared and restored the battle. A long and doubtful
contest ensued between him and the son of Aurora; at length
victor declared for Achilles, Memnon fell, and the Trojans fled
in dismay.

Aurora, who, from her station in the sky, had viewed with
apprehension the danger of her son, when she saw him fall
directed his brothers, the Winds, to convey his body to the banks
of the river Esepus in Paphlagonia. In the evening Aurora came,
accompanied by the Hours and the Pleiads, and wept and lamented
over her son. Night, in sympathy with her grief, spread the
heaven with clouds; all nature mourned for the offspring of the
Dawn. The Aethiopians raised his tomb on the banks of the stream
in the grove of the nymphs, and Jupiter caused the sparks and
cinders of his funeral-pile to be turned into birds, which,
dividing into two flocks, fought over the pile till they fell
into the flame. Every year, at the anniversary of his death,
they return and celebrate his obsequies in like manner. Aurora
remains inconsolable for the loss of her son. Her tears still
flow, and may be seen at early morning in the form of dew-drops
on the grass.

Unlike most of the marvels of ancient mythology, there will exist
some memorials of this. On the banks of the river Nile, in
Egypt, are two colossal statues, one of which is said to be the
statue of Memnon. Ancient writers record that when the first
rays of the rising sun fall upon this statue, a sound is heard to
issue from it which they compare to the snapping of a harp-
string. There is some doubt about the identification of the
existing statue with the one described by the ancients, and the
mysterious sounds are still more doubtful. Yet there are not
wanting some modern testimonies to their being still audible. It
has been suggested that sounds produced by confined air making
its escape from crevices or caverns in the rocks may have given
some ground for the story. Sir Gardner Wilkinson, a late
traveller, of the highest authority, examined the statue itself,
and discovered that it was hollow, and that "in the lap of the
statue is a stone, which, on being struck, emits a metallic
sound, that might still be made use of to deceive a visitor who
was predisposed to believe its powers."

The vocal statue of Memnon is a favorite subject of allusion with
the poets. Darwin, in his Botanic Garden, says,

"So to the sacred Sun in Memnon's fane
Spontaneous concords choired the matin strain;
Touched by his orient beam responsive rings
The living lyre and vibrates all its strings;
Accordant aisles the tender tones prolong,
And holy echoes swell the adoring song."

I find it interesting that they dine on ambrosia and that Aurora watches from her "station in the sky"......

Hacking the ILB, the voicemail and the hotmail account site has been frowned upon. I think publically even. Here's the thread on hacking the email.

Just a quick idea.... there are the reconstruction archives, and the damage archives -> could this be where the queen has fallen apart? I did a quick check and didn't come up with anything new on them, but my search wasn't in depth. Please trout me if this isn't a new idea.
