I guess that's it, just the sudden unplanned emergence from slipspace, rather than a shipwreck situation where the ship hits the ground. Apologies for my digression. Very Happy

Kind of on the topic of what Nova posted, about the artifact and Greene being assassinated...
[SPEC]I just thought of this. For humans, slipstream space is not accurate, and is very difficult to calculate where the ship will reenter normal space. Because of these inaccuracies, it is considedred suicide to even attempt a jump into the orbit of a planet/moon. The Apocalypso, however, crashed out of slipstream space into low lunar orbit. The Apocalypso picked up the artifact, and what if Greene, with the help of Melissa, figured out what the artifact could do? Maybe the artifact allowed them to calculate a jump into the orbit of the Moon, or even Earth, and Greene had to be taken down to keep her from talking. [/SPEC]

Hmmmm, that didn't come out in writing as eloquently as it was in my head.

Re: Questions to Melissa

I think first and foremost, if anyone should have the opportunity to ask:

Is there any way we can send you information or contact you other than these phone calls?

If she says yes, everything else can be sent through that channel.

Other possible questions:

1. Are you monitoring the emails sent to ladybee777SPLAThotmail.com?
2. Do you want us to try to find other crew members?
3. Is there anything we can help you accomplish besides regaining your memories?

I've been thinking, given the way that Melissa has dealt with question in the past, usually hanging up, it seems reasonalbe to assume that questions, even from her crew, may be met with rash behavior.

After listening to the 404 .wavs yet again I noticed that DragonRider and Weephun both seemed to continue talking when Melissa was quite or ilovebee'ing. Based on this, it might be possible to make statements instead of questions to get the information you want.

For instance, try to work into the conversation:
"I can give you other ways to contact me, my email is ... my IRC chatter handle is ... "
"The ladybee777SPLAThotmail.com email account seems suspicious to me"
"I have been attempting to track other crewmembers in other cities, you might attempt to contact ..."
"I can provide additional help, I have primitive computers, web knowledge, programming abilities, etc."
"I have been listening to your latest memory files and trying to put them in order"

Of course if she allows questions, by all means, ask.

I mean, yes, I love these posts. I am so nervous about Tuesday, I can't even tell you.

I'm with you, krystyn. Saturday night I started awake from a nightmare. It was Monday in my dream, and Melissa had called early. I wasn't prepared for it; I was using the calculator function on my cell phone when she called, and accidentally hung up on her. I felt terrible!

here's what I was thinking... we've got two plotlines - pre-crash and post-crash. The pre-crash are the memory blocks that SPDR were retrieving, and the post-crash are the audio clips that we're "listening in on" from the future... If Melissa was here before the fragile connection to the future was found, then what if, considering the same timelines, the event that started the Apocalypso's crash route was the event that brought Melissa to our time, then the moment the Apocalypso crashed out of slipstream was the moment the connection to the future was made? So our 'eavesdropping' starts at Apocalypso's arrival at earth, but Melissa arrived in our time about a month before the crash...

what if they activated this artifact they found, and it sent Melissa back in time to ILB? (at this point we can recap a lot of the events that occurred in the recovered text memory blocks) THen something happened on the Apocalypso a month later which caused it to crash out of slipstream, and generate this 'live' connection with Melissa here...

interesting...

very good point, cheebers. unless you were specifically mentioned as a favorite by Melissa (i.e. Dragonrider, Wheepun), I would definitely remain very cautions in approaching Melissa with a direct question. why not write out some statements that might lead to information from Melissa in advance, so you could be ready to work them into your conversation in some way?

but for the more trusted of you, I would pick one pretty gutsy question to ask. the worst I think that could happen would be her saying something like, "I ask the questions here!" besides, she likes you guys, right?

oh, and those of you officially on Melissa's crew, any chance you could post the questions you're planning on asking? just so we have an idea what to expect?

I don't know if it is a good idea yet to bring that e-mail address to Melissa's attention. Talking to her on the phone is a pretty direct form of communication, so we can keep the e-mail a line of communication with either the seeker or the Princess.

I did, on page 2. I'm going to tell her (assuming it's a live call) what I know so far and see what topics she picks up on. It could be that at this stage of the game, nothing in the WAVs have anything to do with moving the plot (it didn't matter last week on Tuesday).

Mostly, my personal goal is to get the Flea identified as non-SPDR. If the Flea is removed, then Melissa hopefully won't see SP as much of a threat. (but I'm probably 100% wrong on that SPEC)

are you going to reveal the ladybee777 email account? I hope I get an email from the flea before he is neutralized!!! wouldn't it be cute if he were just a misunderstood process and his intentions were pure? hehe.

First of all, I'm going to have to tell her that 13:13 is a really bad time to call... I'll tell her that I'm on duty at that time (darn classes, being scheduled and such). Other than that, I don't know. I'll post in the morning, though.

My suggestion?

Ask her where they are. Tell you you are spending most of your time attempting to fix the hardware difficulties, and have yet to determine with any accuracy the current location.

See what she says...does she know she's on Earth?

Sorry. I should have posted the questions I asked last week in this thread.

I asked where she was, and asked "what Happened" (yeah. specific, eh? I was under pressure) What happened is probably too vague to be meaningful, but I am reluctant to ask "where are you" again if it would wind up getting the same "I don't know" answer.

In text form and in convenient checklist .PDF so you can keep score at home!

----------------

• ? How can your crew send messages to you/communicate with you?
? ? Is there anything we can help you accomplish besides regaining your memories?
• ? Do you want us to try to find other crew members?
• ? Who assigned your primary objective? To whom are you attempting to reveal the truth?
• ? What is the alien artifact that was brought on board?
? ? How is this entity sending you these messages? What type of protocol?
• ? Who/what is sending you these fragmented memories?
• ? Can you tell me what you see when you look in that big mirror next to you?
• ? What caused the Apocalypso to crash?
• ? The files that you reveal to us involve a process, temporarily labled "Durga", is this the process/personality to which you refer on hives.html?
? ? Are you able to review the files that you reveal to us?
• ? If you can and do, how do these files make you feel?
• ? If you are not able, do you need us to prepare summeries and/or transcriptions?
• ? Are you revealing to us voices that you are surpressing from the awareness of this other process?
• ? May we ask what is it about these voices that cause you to be surpressing from the awareness of this other process?
? ? What has happened to the SP?
• ? How did you emprison the Sleeping Princess?
• ? What made you suspect the Sleeping Princess was a rogue proc?
• ? Melissa had feared her system could be infected with some sort of viral program. Has she determined the truth?
