Use the 'code' tag for getting something like that lined up...

Code:

suic|ide|a

[quote="Kender"]Note how all these fragments are Consonant-Vowel-Consonant (CVC) or Vowel-Consonant-Vowel (VCV).

Then look at things like http://www.highspeedplus.com/~edonon/Egyptian.htm
and http://www.highspeedplus.com/~edonon/saharan.htm

I do Egyptology at Liverpool Uni and hieroglyphics dont contain any vowels as the egyptians didnt use them until they started using coptic (then they go on a "Oooh arent vowels nice lets use them everywhere" but thats irrelevant) So i'm not really sure where your going with the CVC or VCV to be hieroglyphics it should really be CCC Smile

The coin on prove.html is a Cretan coin that dates from second century B.C. from Knossos, Crete. The maze is a seven cycle labyrinth. It's thought to be the earliest representation of the maze from the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur.

SPEC: This is all an initiation ceremony for the Seventh Sons. In the end, we are all offered membership.

From the site grumpyboy mentioned:

Quote:
Thousands of years later, nineteenth century antiquarians noted a curious custom - Welsh shepherd boys sometimes cut a labyrinth pattern into the turf as they tended their sheep on the mountains. They called these figures Caerdroia - meaning either City of Troy or City of Turnings - and said that it represented a plan of the city of Troy, defended by seven walls.

Another Seven reference.

sph.html

Me and the Barfing Beaver were looking at the page before sph once more.
Ilioneus might be the key to solving it.
Since we have 7 positions on sph to be filled, and Ilioneus was the 7th son of Niobe, we figured we'd give their names a try.

Code:
Ismenus             is   1,2
Sipylus             yu   4,6
Phaedimus           ph   1,2
Tantalus            tt   1,4
Alphenor            l      2
Damasicthon         a      4
Ilioneus            i      3

isyuphttlai anyone?

Another dead end? Bang Head

From cretanlabyrinth -

Quote:
If we knew the world to be a labyrinth then we would know that there is a centre. No matter whether it houses something terrible like the Minotaur or something divine. But there would be a centre. If, on the other hand, we assume the world to be chaos we would really be lost.

which is a quote by Jorge Luis Borges.

Not sure if this will help, or was even meant to be found, but... in addition to the labyrinth on that page (lab1.jpg), a couple of other labyrinth images exist on the server:

grumpy's last solve

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
egyptianlabyrinth.html

gives us a page on which you find...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
a bunch of symbols. Going along with the Egyptian thing, and remembering some stuff I had seen earlier, I remembered that it looked like some sort of Egyptian numbering system. Looking through google, I found this site

Doing some quick checking on the SS site, I came up with the solve:

http://www.theseventhsons.com/eyeofhorus.html

Brings us to green icon page.

OK, the PMs must have just made this page accessible today, because I tried this URL yesterday when the coin image showed up, and got a 404 for sure. Grrrrr.........
