At the time of this post, antechamber doesn't contain in the source any mention of vitriol.html

Very very confusing.

That is odd, I just downloaded the page again, and I cant find vitriol.

Could it of been a temporary hint?

The content seems to vary on referrals and/or mystical powers.

Now I can't get to the turns.html page. It redirects me back to the frontpage.

Could it be we're only supposed to progress one room a week?

Thanks to google, a full quote of what is on turns.html

Quote:
"INITIATION was performed by two dignitaries, who possessed the title of Father and Herald. After the ceremony (the initiate) would be considered the brother…of the other initiates and the son of the Father… In order to be recognized by the Father, he has to be TATOOED, in other words, BRANDED ON BOTH HANDS… On portraits of emperors, these TATOO MARKS are clearly visible, but ON THE FOREHEAD, IN PLACE OF THE HANDS." (Vermaseren, p. 131)

I've yet to see a post about the image on the vitriol.html page, so here's what I found.

http://www.prs.org/gallery-alch3a.htm

This page contains the exact image found on the page, and says this about it:

Quote:

An Alchemical Cryptogram

From Brown's History of Chemistry

James Campbell Brown reprints a curious cipher from Kircher. The capital letters of the seven words in the outer circle, when read clockwise, form the word SVLPHVR. From the five words in the second circle, when read in a similar manner, is derived FIXVM. The capitals of the six words in the inner circle, when properly arranged, also read EST SOL. The following cipher is thus extracted: "Sulphur Fixum Est Sol," which when translated is: "Fixed sulphur is gold." MPH

Well, now the turns.html page contains the following:

initiation
inptiation
inptiatiot
qnptiatiot
qnptibtiot
quptibtiot
quptibtist
qupaibtist
qupaqbtist
qupaqbbist
qupaqbbqst

One letter is changed on each iteration.

Also, from the website mentioned on the post above:

Quote:
The acroamatic cipher is the most subtle of all, for the parable or allegory is susceptible of several interpretations. Bible students for centuries have been confronted by this difficultly. They are satisfied with the moral interpretation of the parable and forget that each parable and allegory is capable of seven interpretations, of which the seventh--the highest--is complete and all-inclusive, whereas the other six (and lesser) interpretations are fragmentary, revealing but part of the mystery.

[Edit by kona: no need to spoil something on the website in plain site - but if you figure out the code or answer, that would be worth the spoil.]

I wrote down each of the words that changed from one to the next, but when I deciphered it all it spelled was initiation. Can anyone else figure this out?

Perhaps what's important is which line number a particular letter changes on. There are 10 changes, and each line is unique.

on the vitriol page there is the picture, but also these numbers:
Has anyone addressed this?

9 12+1 5+1 16+1 18-3 13-4 1+1 13
I L A E A P A R C M D A A M?

9 13 6 17 15 9 2 13
I M F Q O I B M

Doesn't make any sense.

this is how "initiate" was supposed to come about for the 2nd "Who are you?" dialogue box...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
put the words on the vitriol image in the proper order:

Sola
Vera
Philosophia
Laudet
Homines
Veritatis
Rectae

Fiet
Inde
Xenophontis
Verum
Mandatum

Ergo
Sic
Tuos
Sophos
Omnes
Lege

Then using the numbers under the image:
9 12+1 5+1 16+1 18-3 13-4 1+1 13

9 = first letter of the 9th word = I
12+1 = first letter of the 12th word = M then +1 is count forward 1 in the alphabet = N
5+1 = first letter of the 5th word = H then +1 = I
and so on....

Doing all of the numbers gives "INITIATE"

Still have no idea how we were supposed to get from antechamber to vitriol. I suspect we're missing a few steps...

10 (t) inptiatiot
1 (q) qnptiatiot
6 (b) qnptibtiot
2 (u) quptibtiot
9 (s) quptibtist
4 (a) qupaibtist
5 (q) qupaqbtist
7 (b) qupaqbbist

Well the letter changes are as follows, (each is the # of the letter that changes) 3 10 1 6 2 9 4 5 7 8.

Alternatively,

3, 5, 1, 7...

sorry, too tired to do the rest right now, this'll just have to be an example.
