This might take a really long time!

I figure we'll probably solve 1-2 pages a week. What if there are 20?

Solving twistedpath.html does not require the seventhsons site to be up.
All the info is already in this thread.
But so far we've not really come up with anything.

I sure hope nobody is waiting for the site to be up before working on this puzzle Sad

My guess is that we have to fill in the names of all these symbols, where each next word starts with the last letter of the previous one.

On the other hand, that would mean the words would have to be 14 characters on average. Seems a bit much Sad

I have created a page on the wiki to work on this puzzle:
http://fngeeks.net/urbanwiki/index.php/Twisted_Path

Even if we figured out how to fit the words into the squares - how would that get us to the next page?

Is there a commonality between the symbols?

Is there something on the squares that would indicate the needed letters to spell out the next page (which has not worked yet in 7th sons)?

Would we simply click on the correct order of symbols to get to the next page?

But I agree with you, we need to be thinking about this a bit more than The Unraveling in order to hopefully find out more info about 7th Sons.

I think the textboxes are there to verify that we're using the correct names for the symbols.
If they don't fit in the path, they're not right.
Then when we have the correct names we might be able to contruct a word from them to use. (each first or last letter or something)

If we're putting in the words the way traditional crosswords go (ie every straight line of letters makes a word) I'm counting 40 spaces for words, a lot of them being only two letters long. There's only sixteen symbols (counting everything inside of the cartouche as one word).

Alternately, there's 120 boxes for letters, which works out to an average of 7.5 boxes per word. That seems a little too small for me, given we've been coming up with terms like 'Patriachal Cross' and 'Pythagorean Signet Ring'.

Maybe we need to solve it some other way. Or maybe we need to start looking for smaller words. I'm counting the alchemy symbols as seperate, by the way. Maybe I shouldn't, it would reduce the number of words down to 10, for one.

There's also the possibility that we have to overlap the words. (two words share letters)

The patriarchal cross is also known as the Lorraine cross or Cuernavaca cross.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The symbols were all red herrings! The puzzle was in the twisted path itself. Starting with the arrow on the right. I noted down the left turns and right turns the path takes. I got:

LRRLLLLRLRRLRRLRLRRLRRRRLRRRLRLRLRRLRRRL

with L=0 and R=1 it gave me:

0110000101101101011011110111010101101110

which is binary for "amoun", which means "hidden" or "concealed", so the next page is: http://www.theseventhsons.com/amoun.html

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
On amoun.html is the alchemy symbol for "Visita Interiora Terra Rectificando Invenies Occultum Lapidem" or VITRIOL which leads to vitriol.html

So now we've taken the proper path to vitriol.html (which leads to portal.html then hall.html and then turns.html)

As for turns.html, here's the page the text was quoted from:

http://www.farvardyn.com/mithras6.htm

Interesting stuff about ancient Persian Mithraism.

That, by the way, is the seventh page on that site.

There are also seven stages of initiation into Mithraism:

Raven (Corax), Bride (Nymphus), Soldier (Miles), Lion (Leo), Persian (Perses), Courier of the Sun (Heliodromus) and Father (Pater).

Ok, this was a fluke, but still kicks ass ^_^

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Yeah, so, INITIATION is ROTed one letter at a time into that gibberish QUPAQBBQST. Noticed someone said the numbers it was ROTed by as I joined the channel ([22:09] <jizzle> 8,7,7,7,8,1,8,8,4,6), looked at it a couple hours later as owler and dmax were talking about the ROT numbers, and noticed that it was 10 digits. Something clicked, and got (877)781-8846. I haven't called yet, but apparently it's a couple minutes of a guy talking in latin, then you can leave a message.

I'll write something better when I calm down ^_^

Way way cool! When PK brought it up in chat, I figured "what the hey?" and gave it a ring to see if it was a good spec. And how!

Long, monotonous Latin-sounding monologue, followed by a stock woman's voice saying "Leave a message."

So I did.

"I want to be more than an initiate. My phone number is..."

Shocked
