I'm guessing 363638 667 = pandora next somehow
Oh, and I found this in the images directory:

leavehimalone.txt

They know now. Which fool attempted contact?
The WHOIS information is a trap. Now they know
who you are, and they now know about Pandora Next
now, thanks for nothing.

And you gave them Daniel's name? Oh God. Poor kid doesn't
deserve to get involved with this, I just stole his
fucking computer for christ's sake. Listen, you don't want
to go messing around with the guys that are looking for me.They
are bad news, and you will regret talking with them. But if you
already have, be prepared to get harrassed. They will be keeping
tabs on you. Watch out.

A base system higher then Hex eh? So would we just start from 17 and go up or are there predetermined points that are more popular and therefore, more likely? Also, if it is higher than 16 then wear are the letters that denote didgets? I may not be understanding this correctly, but after 9 we go to A right? So I guess we'd have to use each individual number instead of strings of numbers. No 10s! So what are the 0's then? *arg*

Alright, I'm going to leave this to somebody who knows the landscape beyond Hex.

Yes, I know that they "suggest" that I keep this to myself... but I don't believe in aliens.

P.S. Apparently, I am going on hiatus for the next 3 months while my brain gets picked at by aliens. Thank you for reading this. Confused

does it bug anyone else when UF gets properly 'watched'? i mean there's nothing wrong with PMs watching the boards and seeing how things are progressing but when it starts getting referred to in-game... grr.

anyway, email from the eeeeevil CTAP:

Can't believe we didn't work out that URL!

(ps: i thought that anything higher than base 10 involved letters because you need extra characters once you've exhausted 0 - 9.... like hexadecimal uses A, B, C, D, E & F. hmm)

Enjoy your alienerific vacation. Wait, I'm not going to get into any trouble for looking at the site am I? *scared* Roswell is just two hours away from me. Ah well, you know what they said about curiosity and kittens, or something.

The amazing HTML for the site www.roswell.pandoranext.com is as follows:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
<html>
You must help me<br>
Doctor Lorenzo understands the problem. Get lucky.
</html>

Who's Doctor Lorenzo?

Edit:
Quote:

Yeh, that's why I'm confused that we're looking for a base that's higher than 16. There are no letters and there are 0's.

Also, Doctor Lorenzo seems to be some guy at Ask Dr. Math, the Math Forum. If Doctor Lorenzo understands the problem, perhaps we should try to enlist this guys help. After all... *looks* Seems he knows a bit about Base numbers.

Edit2!:

There seems to be another 'Dr' Lorenzo involved. Except this one was involved with the Roswell incident.

Quote:
Lorenzo Kimball, who was the medical supply officer at the time of the Roswell incident, ridicules this part of the story. He states,

There was a physician named Jesse B. Johnson assigned to the Base Hospital. However, he was a 1st Lt., not a Major, and he was a radiologist, not a pathologist. He had no training as a pathologist and would have been the last member of the medical staff to have performed any autopsy on a human much less an alien!! He is identified as a 1st Lt. in the 509th Yearbook. After I learned of these assertions, I called Doctor Jack Comstock, who, as a Major, was the Hospital Commander in 1947, and in 1995 was living in retirement in Boulder, Colorado. I asked him if he recalled any such events occurring in July of 1947 and he said absolutely not. When I told him that Jesse B. was supposed to have conducted a preliminary autopsy on alien bodies, he had a hard time stopping laughing - his response was: PREPOSTEROUS!!

Major Comstock lived in the Hospital BOQ, located in the hospital complex. Any unusual activity was immediately reported to him by members of the medical and nursing staff. He told me (this was in 1995 prior to his death in February 1996) that NOTHING of this nature occurred in July 1947 at the Base Hospital. (Kimball Online)

From: http://members.aol.com/TPrinty/Dennis.html

What does this have to do with anything? I don't know. But Dr. Lorenzo Kimball being associated with the Roswell incident seems non-coincidency.

Edit3!:

Also, what does 'Get lucky' have to do with anything? Another clue or the guy just wishing us luck cause that's what we'd need to solve this pregame. *urg* I haven't found anything relevant involving Roswell or Lorenzo and 'Get lucky' so I'm confused now.

I think we've got the bases the wrong way around... it's *in* base 10, and we need to convert it to another base, to either give us pure letters (as in the Dr. Lorenzo example) or more numbers which are a substitution cipher. Perhaps confusingly there'll be a mix of letters and numbers, so that "2F" would translate to the letters "FF" in the email address.

Get cracking here:

*laugh* Yeh, I just realized that as I sent in the problem to the Dr. Math guys. So, we want to change the numbers from base 10 to base 17->

Makes more sense than it already being in a base above 16. *feels silly now*

Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong, but what characters would bases after 36 use? Would we ROT the alphabet after base 36? So base 37 would be ROT-1? *isn't good at this math thing*

Also, I was thinking about it, Get lucky. Maybe he's refering to lucky nubmers like 7 or a 4 leafed clover. Maybe our Base has something to do with that. But like I said, anything over 36 just confuses me.

Also CTAP forgot to blind carbon copy their email... so as well as seeing some familiar names there's also gSPLAT0mni.net which takes us to www.0mni.net and pressing Ctrl + A reveals:

Very Happy I knew the answer was "roswell". I was so used to the commands at the Project Gateway ARG that I forgot to change the address... Anyways, the numbers become letters in base 31, for example no. 10191 is "ain", maybe a ROT is in order then....

Well the only thing I had figured out was that 9131302 converted to B26 and ROT23 was "gmail".

The rest was coming up total gibberish no matter what way I sliced it. I have no idea if this is the correct way to do this, because I am a math dunce.....

But finally:

The title:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
363638 667

Converted to Base 26 = KHO2
Subbing an "S" for the "2"
Rot 23 = HELP ME

Why sub an "S"? Just a guess to make the "P" fit...but it helps further down.

This part of the email addy:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
9131302

Converted to Base 26 = JPDLO
Rot 23 = GMAIL

This part of the email addy:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
10191

Converted to Base 26 = F1P
Subbing a "R" for the "1"
Rot 23 = COM

Why sub an "R"? Just a guess to make the "O" fit, but it helps further down as well.

This part of the email addy:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
3420282220835

Converted to Base 26 = G9LN5641P

And using 1=R, 2=S, 3=T, 4=U...etc

It becomes GZLNVWURP

Rot 23 = DWIKSTROM

Therefore:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
DWIKSTROMSPLATGMAIL.COM

I'm guessing this is Daniel. As in Daniel Wikstrom.

Guess I was wrong on the first name but did get a reply:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):

I normally tend to ignore e-mails from people I don't know, figuring
them junkmail, but I actually recieved two e-mails today from what
appear to be legitimate sources. The first e-mail was from
postmasterSPLATpandoranext.com. I am not quite sure what this pandora
next is, other than the image on the website. The body of the text
was as follows:

Derek,
I hope I have time to schedule you in an appointment sometime soon, as
I dearly miss your company. You know I am a busy man, so hopefully
there is a time below will fit in your schedule anytime tomorrow:

04:04
05:20
12:15
12:18
14:18
15:09
20:02
20:03
20:05
20:14
24:05

If none of these times are satisfactory, let me know.
Thank you for your time

And that is all the email said. No name, no indication of who this
person is. With any hope, you can shed some light on just what is
going on here. Let me know if these times mean anything to you.

Thanks,
Derek Wikstrom

Hi Guys,

I got the same result just moments ago. I think my conversion method might be a little easier to follow.
