[SPEC] Possible SP phone # Long time lurker, first time poster...
I normally wouldnt do this... but i think I actualy found something VERY interesting.
First... VERY quick recap:
Bungie loves the number 7 right?
The only name we know for the SP is the Sleeping Princess...
that typed into a phone is:
SLEEPING PRINCESS
75337464 77462377
lets remove the 7s... and we get: (533) 464-4623
I havent called it yet.... WAY to afraid. Someone call it up and tell me what did you get?

533 is the country code for Aruba. As far as I know, there is no US Area Code of 533.

ohh snap! umm... haha... maybe its randomized... but that is too weird to have it come out like that right?
[edit] i may be beating a dead horse... but if you shift it 7 places... you get a 623 area code... and that is in AZ

MeKiwi is right about the 533 code. according to NANPA (http://www.nanpa.com/ ) there is no registered area code 533. if you have any other guesses about possible workable area codes you can try http://www.nanpa.com/nas/public/npa_query_step1.do?method=resetNpaReportModel to do a lookup of all north american and US controlled ter. Area Codes

It is *very* interesting that the phone number is divided up by 7's into the standard breaking up of phone numbers.
XXX -XXX -XXXX
7XXX 7XXX 77XXXX 77

This is what we refer to as, in the field, as a coincidence .

well maybe they have vonage... where you can pick ANY area code (and/or phone #) and use it...
i guess becuase it is my theory... i'll test it...
[EDIT] ... and yea... thats a big negitive.... 533 area code does not work... not even going to bother with the other one... my luck it would be the resident of an old man.

I'll make this an open offer to anyone who wants to let me show them the error of their ways. PM your phone number and a time (in PST) that I can call you. I will call the first 10 people who PM me.
I can and will make my CLID appear as Melissa's (or as the above number, or hell, as your own number if you like) from a standard/traditional PBX.
This is not magic people, it's not even breaking the law. To learn more about area codes I made a post here .

I totaly beleive you... I've done it a few times myself. But what my theory was what you're saying in reverse: THEY (the PMs) created a phone number using the Vonage VoIP network. There is no CLID... becuase they were not calling us... we are calling them... and if my theory was correct... I would have received something on that end.
I'm not calling you bluff or missing any facts. But I think this was a case of mis-comunication .
[EDIT] But if you can change your PBX receving phone number on the fly... then by all means... show me that trick.

How were they not calling us again? Like when my phone rang, you're saying that some how (rather magically it would seem to me) my phone dialed them without my interaction, calling a number that I could not see nor get a record of, and ... I was connected to the voice recognition software?
On its face, I would say you're pulling my leg and just forgot to include the LOL emote to show it was a big joke. But if you are serious, please explain the magic of my calling someone without my being aware of it, and without knowing their phone number in advance...?
Incoming numbers (aka Direct Inward Dial) can be acquired in singles or in blocks. They cannot be "Randomly changed" because, like a DHCP reservation, it takes time for the reserving agency (the LEC) to assign them to ring at your location.
The only way to have the kind of control you are talking about is by purchasing a block of DID numbers (individuals or consequetive blocks) and then, all of those DID numbers will go to the entity that "owns" them and the receiving entity can give service or deny service at their leisure.
And I can show you that I can get all calls within a 1000 block of numbers, unless that number is already assigned to another user (cause I cannot interrupt business). That's what we call "intercept treatment." It's standard stuff. However, I can only do it within the range of numbers that my company owns. I cannot receive it outside of the range that we own, nor can anyone else (but the Telco's, and they are legally restrained from such behavior without a court order.)
