Actually, they seem to be calls to talk to MELISSA, with an option to talk to SP when Melissa breaks down. And it seems random, but fairly frequently. I think we've already gotten almost ten today.

Plus, the 7 rainbow colors aren't wavelengths -- they're ranges of wavelengths. Each individual wavelength is a very specific shade of color; a rainbow is composed of many, many waves. Not just 7.

waves were also used to by seamen in order to determine their direction...i found this at a site while i was looking....."the sun compass was used for gathering data to collaborate other signs which seamen know, such as wave patterns, prevailing winds, storm winds, seaweed/flotsam, shore birds, shoreline markers, size of bow wave, position of the north star or other stars, changing shadow of some convenient part of the ship"

If NASA calls them waves, I will believe NASA.

Quote:
Visible light waves are the only electromagnetic waves we can see. We see these waves as the colors of the rainbow. Each color has a different wavelength. Red has the longest wavelength and violet has the shortest wavelength. When all the waves are seen together, they make white light.

I won't dwell on it, but if it's right you can buy me an ice-cream.

Understood. However, the first set of three balloons (holy truths, faithful apostles, and deadly sins) all had numbers associated with them that were missing. Melissa said she locked SP up with a code sequence on hives.html, which I would take to mean a sequence of numbers (although not necessarily).

Either these missing numbers are of no significance and are a red herring, or we should try to associate numbers with the second set. 4 points on a compass. 5 points on a star. And what of waves? If it is light waves, then the association isn't going to be ranges, it's going to be a solid integer - 7. If it's not light waves and is sea waves to follow the meme, then what number is associated with sea waves? Maybe 7 for the seven seas, but who knows.

No, it's not rock-solid, it's only speculation. But what else do we have?

balloon by numbers

Ok, quick recap of this little game of color by numbers, or rather seek by numbers.

Fork #1
holy truths: 4 (WRONG)
deadly sins: 7 (correct answer)
faithful apostles: 11 (WRONG)

Fork #2
Star: 5 Points
Compass: 4 directions (WRONG)
Wave: 7 Lengths, one for each color

Where does it say anything about the hives page....and where is it on the hives page...or do we not know yet?

I'm not arguing that the colors of the rainbow aren't waves -- I'm arguing that there are more than 7 wave(length)s in a rainbow. Wink *chuckles* As it turns out, I still think it's waves, but just because of the "odd man out" theory. It looks like we'll have to wait until the next set of paths before we find out what the pattern is.

Edit: And right or wrong, I'll happily buy any beekeeper I ever meet in person an ice cream. Even pumpkin (which they doubtless have at Amy's here in Austin) or a marshmallow sundae with chocolate ice cream. You all are just too cool.

I don't think you're going to get many answers in this thread. We do have a thread here that will bring you up to speed as to what's been done and our current status. I also suggest checking out the Questions section.

Melissa on hives.html wrote:

Which, coincidentally, rules out the spec that we should ask Melissa what the code is, unless "forever" just got a whole lot shorter.

EDIT: Sorry, Nuriko, I guess I'm being too nice today...

Thanks for the help. And thank you Nuriko too.

The numeric evidence is compelling but to me the connection between the subjects is too loose. I prefer a more literal interpretation; the star and compass are used to navigate while a wave is what you use to move. Given that the last answer was one of the similarities (truths and sins are subjective while disciples are physical) and compass has already been discounted, I'd recommend star, which also fits in with a halo/starship setting.
Then again, the fact that a wave isn't something you use to navigate - in popular knowledge, I saw the post about using waves to navigate - could be important as well.

No worries Smile I just don't want him to feel bad if he posts in another thread and gets his head bitten off. This is a nice thread! Very Happy

Back on topic, are there any updates? I'm itching to see if I get an ice-cream today Smile I'm in a good problem-solving groove today. Melissa! Don't let me waste these brain cells for nothing!
