So what happened after you told her go to the Nobel Truth?

I just wanted to post this here too in case someone finds it useful. I don't think NOBLE TRUTHS is the correct path from the sound of my conversation with the SP.

Trynian,

First off, great job!

It sounds like you and I had almost the same conversation. I'll try to remember as much as I can. I was asked to keep something secret like some others though.

I answered the phone, and Melissa asked me what her favorite song was. I told her it was Stormy Weather. She asked if I had ever heard of that song. I said no, and she asked me my favorite song. I told it was Mr. Roboto by Styx. She asked me why I liked that song. I was lost, and didn't know what to say, so I said the same thing someone else said about it reminding them of childhood days, and playing football. She asked what football was. If you've seen the other post (too lazy to look it up - I think it was gilada's post), then you know the rest. She went into the breakdown stage, and I told her it was ok Sleeping Princess. I'll take care of you.

She said the same thing about being scared. She said there were sharp silver buttons in front of me that scared her. I told her they were not that sharp, that it'll be ok. I was there to protect her. I told her where she could find a red balloon to set her free. She was very interested to hear more about this balloon.

I told her a red balloon was left for her onceuponatime at the ilovebees server, and she began thinking back, and said "yes, I do remember leaving a balloon there."

She said she lost her family, and asked if I could help her find her family. Of course, I said yes. She said something about a red balloon being attached to the street light. I looked outside, but nothing. Then, she said she found another balloon attached to an old rusty bench. This frightened her because the bench was sharp.

Finally, I told her to grab ahold of the balloon, and she would be free. Well, she then got confused because she didn't know, which balloon to take. She found 3 others down different paths. She said she didn't know which one to take. The paths she told me were:

NOBLE TRUTHS
FAITHFUL APOSTLES
DEADLY SINS

I told her to take the NOBLE TRUTHS balloon. She asked if I was sure. I said yes. Unfortunately, she began crying and screaming. I think I chose the wrong path!

Melissa came back on, and me something. I said something about bad connection hardware. She agreed that this hardware wasn't very reliable, and asked for my name and rank (Lieutenant Aspmaster), and my chatter number so I could be reached later.

I'll post this in the puzzle thread as well, so people can see that NOBLE TRUTHS may not be the correct path.

So it looks like people have told her both NOBLE TRUTH and FAITHFUL APOSTLES, and have ended up with the Princess screaming. So by brute force, we have our answer: DEADLY SINS.

By the by, I think counting the # of faithful apostles may be barking up the wrong tree, especially considering that it was the wrong path.

Also, it's possible that once she takes a "correct" path, she does not go backwards. This would make it a bit easier to progress without knowing the entire sequence at once.

So can we get a Mod to post this on the "what to say" thread?

Also we may be able to question Melissa about the code she used. One person said she specifically mentioned encrypting the rogue process with a code. Perhaps that's a clue to ask her about it. If she doesn't want to reveal it, just tell her that someone else should know in case she loses her memory again.

Holy Truth

That threw me as well... does anyone else know of "Holy Truths" in another religion?

<sad smile> Well, most triumphalist religions (which is most of them, unfortunately) think their beliefs (and generally theirs alone) are Holy Truth.

But as far as four specific Holy Truths, I'm pretty sure that Buddhism is it.

Like I said, in less well-known religions, there might be Four Holy Truths out there somewhere, but I believe the PMs aren't going to go too far outside the realm of basic background knowledge. They couldn't count on us having somebody with a doctorate in religious studies here to inform us of the obscure Four Holy Truth dances of the Great High Punbaa of the Ptoui tribe, so I'm betting on Buddhism.

My recording device is terrible for playback. I'll have to upload the file and transcribe it tonight.

Googling around with "4 7 11" led me to This http://www.le.state.ut.us/~code/TITLE04/htm/04_0B008.htm

plenty of other sites came up as well, but seemed to be in the middle of data fields or date codes. the duties of the county bee inspector seemed Very applicable Smile

Ok, I set up a fireflies wiki page here which summaries this week's puzzle as far as I can tell from the forums so far... am I missing anything at this point?

Pride is the worst of the sins becuase it's the one that is directly challenging G-D. It was Lucifer's sin.

My guess is that the "11 apostles" is more of a reference to Judas than it is to the other faithful. They're always referred to as the twelve becuase of the replacement later. That's assuming, of course, we're being biblical.

No, I haven't posted b4. I'm a lurker of longstanding.

It seems people are really over-thinking this puzzle now.

SP had three paths to choose from. Two of the paths made her scream and hang up, the third... we don't know yet.

Even if you doubted the relevance of there being Seven Deadly Sins, we can all agree on the process of elimination, right?
