[RETRACTED/NON PUZZLE] Finding Dana

Edit: Retracted here

According to Zudini's posted transcript, Melissa wants to know where the "Assassin" is and if there is some way to trap her.

Zudini suggested that there may be a connection between the "Assassin" and Dana in the transcript.

Melissa asked if he could assist her in locating Dana.

I SPEC'd here that Dana will be leaving Japan shortly if the "pattern" holds.

I'm not saying that the storyline depends on getting Dana, but I am saying it's a possible puzzle, and possibly part of the story that Melissa will go after Dana next.

[META] (Why? Because if we were to operate rationally, rather than going after Dana, Melissa should attempt to re-capture SP before pursuing new objectives. But since that wouldn't further the story the way I think the PMs intend, going after Dana next makes the most sense.)[/META]

Whoa, whoa, whoa. The Princess, sure. Some people suspect her of being Covie (not me, but some.) But Dana!? Isn't she the only character in this entire ARG that we can be sure is home team? If we get a puzzle for letting Melissa "get" her, I think the "This ride's on rails" argument is not going to sell as well as it has. We aren't robots here, dancing or otherwise; if the objects of puzzles are going to get increasingly distasteful, there's going to be a point where the players rebel.
Besides, there's a question of what Melissa can do to Dana. Snap photos of her again? She can't encrypt a human, and it's been established that she does not have Durga's level of control over the information network of 2004.

Well that seems to be quite true - we already freed the SP once, it shows we can do it again if the need be - the SP Is important and without her, the story would be hard to advance - I'd have to agree that Melissa catching the SP again would be rather useless...

We should focus on Dana right now...

SPEC: I think it depends on which side we want to join here.. There is a good possiblity that the PMs have story paths planned out if we choose to help Melissa capture Dana, or side against her by helping the Sleeping Princess which could lead to any number of ends for Melissa's network or a possible convergence of the SP back into Melissas' being.

i think Zudini was on the right track: we need to get Melissa off of "hunting Dana" and more onto realizing that the Flea is using her.

And that she's lost focus of her real mission.

Just another vote

I know others have already voiced this opinion, but I fell every vote people see, the more likely they are to go with the communities majority decision when/if they are the one to make the choice (I.E. weephun turning in SP.) I think working against Dana would be a bad idea

Boy, I kinda hate to be the one to bring this up ... but since I've already been labeled I might as well be the one.

Dana is near the Tsukiji Fish Market in Japan. (as per her new blog entry)

From a quick search, I found a decent write up of the market here: http://www.nationalgeographic.com/photography/galleries/tokyo/

Man, maybe if the hatefest hadn't continued: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=79020#79020 I wouldn't be so motivated, but as is:

Tsukiji Fish Market
5-2-1 Tsukiji
Chuo-ku
Tokyo
Tel: +81 (03) 3542-1111
Tsukiji station (Hibiya line)

The unfortunate thing about Japanese addresses, is there are horrendously difficult to find. They don't usually map out the way they do in the U.S. In fact, if the post office doesn't KNOW YOU, you stand to not get mail, because they themselves can't figure out the addresses. For example, my girlfriend spent the last year living in Kyoto (a reasonably sized city). Someone from the States sent her a letter/gift, and she didn't receive it for four months. Why? Because the post office couldn't figure out where to deliver it (despite a full address). Eventually the postman talked with her host family and found out she was living there, and they connected the dots.

With that in mind, Tokyo will be a pretty easy place to hide, even for a foreigner.

On the other hand, Tsukiji eki (station) should be easy to find, so if it's adjacent...

It seems like Weephun may be on the right track...

If the essence of this ARG is to create hype about Halo2, and if the plot somehow is going to tie into Halo2's, or at least to give the ARGers some motive for saving the day in the video game, then by definition the ARG has to end on a dark note. There must be some final problem to solve in the video game. A darkness to overcome. So maybe if weephun were to decide to go pro-covenant, or pro-badguy, or anti-dana (which he obviously hasn't as of now), then he may have the last laugh when it all plays into his hand...

On the other hand, if the ARG must end badly, and if everyone fights with Dana, the PMs can easily make something bad happen at the end to push the Halo2 story without ARGer involvement.

I would be delighted to see the community at large break out of the box and catch the PMs off-guard. It could really make the game reach a higher creative level, be more fun for the PMs (or more stress for them), and broaden the ARG standard. Though I could see no way for us to bust the rails right now. The PMs seem very good.

If Melissa has infiltrated as far as blocking her ATM, I would guess she's into enough systems to track locations.

I'm all for ending Dana's vacation and putting her to work, [speculation] and this may likely involve helping Melissa. Dana's the one who can access the server. We might need to use that at some point. As in, it sure would be fun to try to access the Flea directly, etc. (I smell puzzles.) [/speculation]

Along these same lines of thinking .. everybody was soooo pissed at me when I gave up the Sleeping Princess, but in the end it created the most active day ever for the ilovebees ARG, the "freeing of the SP" day. Or maybe SP independance day?? [humor]oooo look at all the pretty fireworks ... no wait that's weephun's house burning to the ground [/humor]

Soo the capturing of the SP came from Lt. Weephun giving away the SP's location to Melissa.
Now maybe the capturing/???? of Dana will come from Lt. Adam giving away Dana's location to Melissa.

Hey maybe then we can have a Lt. Adam hatefest followed by a "free Dana" day! Laughing
