Is your voice similar to his? If not, be prepared to explain. Wink

My voice is nothing like his, so I am going to try to act the part and imitate the voice best I can (that is, if I even get the live call). Hopefully it will be close enough/amuse the PM's enough to let the differences slide. My goals are definitely to roleplay the part as a spy for SParmy... I am trying to infiltrate enemy lines. mwahahahaha Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Twisted Evil

Help with some ideas???? If the call IS live, can anyone think of a plausible reason why Mckaskill is in 2004 when he has already been heard in the clips from the future (black_taxi and flu)? I appreciate any help as I am trying to brainstorm ahead to be ready for "explanations". My axon is in 1 hr.

the McKaskill heard in the sound clips is an ONI imposter and spy, and you're the real one

maybe?

[META] More ideas

I had posted this in a thread in the interaction forum, but I'll repost two excerpts here, because this actually seems like a more appropriate place...

Quote:
1. In the scene with the Castaway, Melissa, as noted above, mentions that she feels "real." Also, in one of the sound clips, there is what sounds like a hint of pain in Durga's voice when she asks, "You don't think I'm real?"

So, is it possible our girls have a bit of a Pinocchio Complex? Not perhaps in the sense of *wanting* to be real, but rather in having their sentience recognized? Durga says to Jersey, sounding near tears, "I couldn't bear for you to be disappointed in me." This sounds as if she is more than capable of actual emotion (and not just an approximation thereof) and self-reflection. Melissa's monologue seems also to contain moments of genuine self-reflection, and though her "paranoia" and "jealousy" could just be the way her programming expresses itself, her loneliness seems real.

I understand that anyone who gets the honor of speaking to Melissa live will probably not want to jeopardize their opportunity by getting too experimental, but I wonder what would happen if someone treated her like...well...a machine. Of course, one would have to put oneself in a fairly heartless state of mind to speak dehumanizingly to a traumatized, lonely female who manifests actual affection and protectiveness toward her crew. (See point #2 for more thoughts on this.)

I would attempt it, but while I'm able to turn my empathy off and on to a certain extent, I'm not sure I could pull off something that cold convincingly. Also, I have a few other ideas I want to try out (which I'm not going to share here because it seems the PMs are paying attention to the forum) which would be mutually exclusive with pissing her off.

3. The scene with the Castaway brings up another point regarding Melissa's emotions. There seems to actually be a hint of romantic longing in that encounter.

I wonder what would happen if one of our more charming male members, preferably someone with a good phone voice, attempted to flirt with Melissa?

(Tangent -- I'd be tempted to call her "my little honeybee" myself, just because she's never acknowledged the meaning of her name -- Melissa means "bee," for those who missed it -- but I'm female and she might take it the wrong way, but maybe someone who was actually flirting could get away with it.)

Gentlemen? Any takers?

CRASHED AND BURNED!
I got a live call, and at first, when she asked my name, I told her daboking. We went through the normal process... I gave answer, she said yes then asked permission to record and call as she received my #, but here is where things went south... She specifically asked me if I had a nickname I use, so I thought, "here is my chance" and said McKaskill. She quickly called me a spy and traitor and before I could even respond, she hung up on me. I went to the axon today with every intention of trying to play the part of McKaskill from the getgo, but alas, things changed when I got to the axon. Memphis is a rather unfortunate city in that it has a lot of problems with racial division. I did not want to appear disrespectful in the waffle house trying to sound like McKaskill for fear of appearing insulting.

I thought to myself, "maybe this could still work", but I can say for sure... it was a bit odd that she made it a point to ask me for another nickname after I already told her Daboking. Hmmm methinks my intentions for SParmy and the cover I intented were compromised before I ever answered the phone. I think they expected this. Very Happy Well, it was very fun to at have gotten a reaction out of a live Melissa. I feel like Kamal.... only I do not have someone setting up dates for me from Corral. WOW, A.I. women are no different than real women when it comes to the daboking.... no love! Sad Sad

Ouch

Tough break, daboking. It'll be interesting to see if she says anything about it like she did when she caught the SP.

Whew, I had a scare there. I checked the rendezvous page and for a moment I thought Ranger D had somehow stolen my axon! I thought (from the advance info page) for some reason that it was at 15:27, but it's at 15:23.

I had this total moment of unreasoning fury, even though my chances of getting a live Melissa call are practically nil. The one axon's the only one in Milwaukee, while those lucky folks in Madison get a gazillion.

Has anybody who lives in a one-axon city gotten a live call?

Phaedra, in answer to your question... Memphis is a one axon city. ^_^
