I was going to say it, but it looks like you beat me to it AngriBuddhist. Now that the fever is building and we're getting close to the Halo 2 launch, I'm expecting a lot more "greenhorns"; people that really didn't want to get into it until now. Oh well, have fun catching up at the blog!
But seriously, I welcome anyone who wants to play this game with us, as long as they are inteligent and do their homework. It's been a truly awesome experience so far.

I thought it was a decent article although the article is a little behind, I appreciated "the Bruce" getting his hard work recognized. If it wasn't for his website I would of never made it this far, most of my surfing done at work(no sound). But I think anyone who is interested in Halo2 have already been lurking, as have myself. Throwing out some input here or there.
My 2 cents hand delivered,
Chooch

I'm really impressed with that article. Sounds almost like it was written by someone who's been following all along, rather than playing catchup like the (well intentioned) Wired.com guy.
C'mon IGN writer, fess up. Who are ya? Getting paid to play the game on company time must be nice...

sweet, I'm linked
although, I'm surprised, and I feel a little bad now that unforum wasn't specifically linked to as a resource, just a link to a guideline thread for args... that's odd...
ah well. If I can't get to any of the axons and be a crew, I'll just eat my cake...

bah! I just noticed... I wanted to find out the traffic coming from IGN... there's a massive 600+ visits today so far, so it's gotta be from them... but I've got no referrer url, just what would otherwise be from people typing in the url, or bookmarks... upon closer inspection, I noticed that the article has me linked with two http:// strings in the link... so no one gets there directly by clicking - everyone has to manually take off the first http:// ... thus the manual entry...
bah! Arun Devidas... learn to link

OK Thunderclap8... it's me !
Some explanation - I used to write for IGN semi-regularly quite a few years back but then ended up with a 'real' career (in hind sight... what was I thinking ?!), but now have some more time on my hands. The real motivation for writing the article though was that I was quite blown away by the quality of the story and delivery of the game and thought Xbox fans that were initially scared off/frustrated with the initial learning curve of ILB should give it another look.
I was really enjoying the unfolding story and appreciating the hard work of others to actually keep the story moving. When the 'HumptyDumpty' clips started appearing I thought it was the perfect spot for anyone unable to commit to the downloading and assembling exercise (admittedly this included me) to get a taste of the whole story.
So the whole article was really aimed to show the casual fan :
a)This game is got some pretty cool stuff going on!
b)A very interesting Halo storyline is there to be experienced.
It is a little stale as it was written a couple of weeks ago, with some small details added about a week ago. It has then been sitting with the IGN editors since last week getting a bit more stale… but I don't think it really matters as I didn't want to just paraphrase the story elements anyway - much more satisfying to discover the unfolding story for yourself from the start.

Thebruce – apologies for the link error ! I'm writing as a freelance and don't have access to the content management system. The actual HTML coding for the links is done by the editors. I'll let them know. (to be honest the article appearing today was quite a surprise to me as well… I haven't heard a single thing from the Eds since submitting !) As has been mentioned already, your page is the ideal spot for green horns to get up to date with the story.

Apologies to unfiction for not linking as a resource as thebruce suggested. I didn't want to link directly and get a whole heap of 'I reckon Durga is Cortana w00t' threads annoying the beekeepers ! I figured by linking to the 'rules' for Halo players people would find the forum but be mindful of how the game is being played. And hopefully anyone jumping in now will be intelligent enough to find the other resources (that I think are great but not that easy for noobs to get into) such as Netninja Bee Log and Fireflies wiki.
Now - to wind up my rant ! If I do a follow up article I'd very much like to get some of the players on the forum to have some input. I was keen to get some for this article but as it was written with no idea whether or not it would actually make it to be published, I didn't want to waste anyones time only to be unable to put you up in lights. So if I email or PM you in a few weeks you'll know why !
Thanks all, good luck for the rest of the game, I'll enjoy watching ! (any axons turn up in Switzerland I'll be on it!)

IGN Article Excellent article, Rooney. I liked it quite a bit better than the Wired one, although I'm very curious as to what the NYT will have to say about us.
