props to the PMs... I think this is the longest we've been stumped on a couple puzzles... I'm assuming there are two puzzles left now, with 6 clues

EDIT: probably 3 or 4 with 9 clues... bah

I think the detective story and this one go together:
Quote:
This is what I do when I imagine I am a femme fatale! ;-*
And this is what I do when I need help making my story better: :-/

Well, what does she need to make her story better? Film noir slang, of course.

corpse = stiff
hand = flipper
leave the scene = blow
doctor = croaker
loser = ?
arrested = pinched
liquor = corn
down-and-out = bum
P.I. license = ticket
private detective = dick
fakes = ringers
kidnap = snatch

Now, as to how you actually get an answer out of that, I'll leave to the smart people. Smile

You're a Censored genius! You might have missed one or two, though:
$1,000 = a grand? a G?
phone = horn? blower?

(Also, "arrested" is really "self arrested," so Dunno )

or:
corpse = cadaver
hand = meat hook
leave the scene = split
doctor = croaker
loser = square, zero
arrested = nicked
liquor = booz, swill, juice
down-and-out = bum
P.I. license = ticket, free ride
private detective = dick,
fakes = ringers
kidnap = snatch

Combining johnny's slang and mine:

corpse = stiff / cadaver
hand = flipper / meat hook
leave the scene = blow / split
doctor = croaker
loser = square / zero
arrested = pinched / nicked
liquor = corn / booze / swill / juice
down-and-out = bum
P.I. license = ticket / free ride
private detective = dick
fakes = ringers
kidnap = snatch

If it's following the pattern of all the other puzzles, you only need the two clues to solve it.
