[META] [SPEC] Anagrams

I searched the forum, and was surprised to find only one mention of anagramming. With a name like Durga, for whom "guard" is not only an anagram but an apt description, it seems a worthy topic to at least consider the possibility that anagramming may give us some clues... As to what, I can't say. So consider the following:

(The) Pious Flea. This name seems so weird and random, it is a likely anagram candidate. What I have found so far:
PHASE OUT FILE
PHASE OUT LIFE (creepy)
HATES FOUL PIE (we can all relate, no?) =)

I don't know if there's anything to the anagram idea. But it's worth a spec or two.

Do Fleas eat pie?

I think anagrams have been important in this in the past, no reason why they shouldn't now. I'll get my computer working on it.

Well, if he really is 343 Guilty Spark, that makes perfect sense.

Hmm. Interesting point. I'd been focusing on the name "Durga" itself, which means "inaccessible" in Sanskrit. Quite aside from the mythology behind the name, I wonder if its literal meaning means we'll never get to directly communicate with Durga herself, unlike Melissa and the SP.

But it never occurred to me to anagram it.

Good work.

It's funny, because every time I read, think, or hear about Durga, I think Guard. When I mentioned it to a fellow beekeeper, I was told it probably meant nothing, so I have kept it to myself since then.

Melissa: As Slime. Mass Lie. Sam Lies? Who is Sam and why is he embedded in Melissa's name? Smile My favorite, though, is AIMLESS.

I have never used anagramming software, just my poor old brain, so you all will be far ahead of me.

Anagrams can easily be found by going to

http://www.wordsmith.org/anagram/

I know, it's cheating.

I've already put in "sleeping princess" just for fun. I found a few phrases I thought were interesting:

RECESSING NIPPLES, GENERIC PENS SLIPS, CREEPING SPINLESS, SCREENING ESP SLIP, PENCILERS PEGS SIN,

Creepiness is also a word that can be found (and seemed strangely familiar to me Smile ), but it's not a complete anagram as you have SLPNGI left over. It probably means nothing.

Enter in Melissa and you get (list not all inclusive):

AIMLESS
SALES I'M
AM LESS I
SAM ISLE
AS LIMES
ASS MILE
ASS LIME

... Can you say that here?

Are we in trouble or something?

Maybe it's the fact that I've had ten days in a row of ten hours each at work... Or all the running around answering phones... Or the fact that my cat won't let me sleep when I'm not at work or answering phones... Or some combination thereof...

But I just can't stop giggeling.

Probably coincidence, but Sam is the name of Jersey's mom's affair dude, right?

Will there be someone around to document it all on the wiki thing? Otherwise I can try to keep a record on the first page of the thread, like someone did for the first set of puzzles.

that would be a good idea... whoever opens the thread (or the 2nd poster or whatnot) should keep the page up to date... I'll have a page setup in the wiki, but I can't guarantee it'll remain up to date beyond 3:15pm (EDT), at least until I get back tonight at like 9pm or so...

I've had lots of sleep and am wide awake at the moment, and I can't stop giggling either. Very Happy
