I didn't see anyone posting about actually going to Mowat Ave. yet. Did anybody check it out?
I am not sure how much one would find at an address that doesn't exist, but I may check it out when I get the chance (between midterms).

biotech news on NorBAC site
thebruce wrote:
well that's the thing, some of the news on norbac is on legitimate news websites... can't tell if they just looked for news articles that are related to the arg, or if they someone managed to have a news article hosted, and likely not linked from anywhere else so there's no mistaking it for a real article... interesting indeed...
I'm pretty sure the news links are real. The stories are easy to find if you put in the key words on Google, and they're all pretty reasonable stories. Also, the pictures accompanying them on the NorBAC site are generic and unrelated to the content. Still, we should keep an eye out in case they do put fake or game-related links there.

Login on the NorBAC site: letters m, M, n, N I noticed something odd with the login box on the NorBAC site: the letters "m" and "n" have different capitals and lowercase, but no other letters do. I don't know how this could be relevant, but it seems weird. The same font is present on the "nORBAC SECURITY PROTOCOL COmPLETE" dialog that happens at every third failed login, which is apparently all lower case.
Has anyone copied the text that scrolls down with failed logins?
[edit] I see that someone has... it's on the sciencesucks forums.
Also, the NorBAC globe emblem says "BIOTHECHNOLOGY." Whoops! The animated one on the ReGenesis website has it spelled right, though. Also, I assume the MMIV at the bottom just means 2004, but it might have some other meaning as well.

Can't tell if it has any importance, right now. Seems like just a bunch of fake IP's.

That is something called a "traceroute". The ms numbers are connection times, they tell you how long it takes to connect to different routers along the connection (in milliseconds). That is more or less a "map" of the connection between two endpoints. In this case, one endopint is a VPN off of a residential cable connection, and the other seems to be a DSL connection.

They also misspelled Flu as Flue in those news stories in the bottom right corner. Maybe there is a pattern in the misspellings on the site that might give a clue as to a login or password. I was willing to forgive the Flue thing as a typo, but misspellings in the emblem in one place and not in another points to intent.

ignore the 10. ip address it's part of the 'reserved' Address Range which means the scan initated from inside some network on the rogers connection.
Furthermore after some 'sleuthing' (ehehe) there do not appear to be any services running on either end of the connection as far as i could tell.

I found another, but it's iffy; another news story has "licence" instead of license. However, "licence" is the British spelling (and I presume the Canadian spelling as well), and the linked article does use the "c" in the title, but the other spelling in the article. The article is a legitimate press release that can be found on other websites (sometimes with the same title), and the bio.com website is real as well. However, although the archives go back past 9/14/2004 (the date of the article), that particular article is not linked from the archive.
I haven't quite seen enough misspelling evidence for me to believe that it is significant, but it's worth looking into.
