thanks

Also, I think e-mailing him at metacortechs wouldn't do anything since the, ah, old-time PMs have that webpage.

d'oh. thanks for spelling that out for me omnie.

so the quote about "i bet that spike was just a thunderstorm in Redlands i bet" relates to the storm last Halloween.

Somehow the addition of the hypen doesn't give me any additional inspiration.

You and me both.

I did find some information on a Buddhist tradition called Life Release, involving the thought that all creatures are evolving toward higher consciousness. Some groups get together and release insects from pet stores etc.

When I noticed the hyphen in this sentence I got a little excited:

"Hojo-e" The ceremony of liberating animals is an expression of atonement and piety.

...but only for a second.

Was this Stefan a character from before?

If so was his last name Ragnarsson then?

Seems funny that his last name resembles Ragnarök and that he mentions Scandinavian heritage.....well maybe not funny, but hey I'm grasping at straws here.

Although what Ragnarök has to do with Santorini or Life Release....well I just can't say.

No, I'm pretty sure he's new.

[edit]Never mind, this didn't make any sense.[/edit]

Also, the cursor on santorini.swf keeps coming back to point at the beta module. Beta = beta test -> final release? Or something. Um.

MLO's metadex has been updated. It's a partial e-mail from a Metacortex attorney.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Email from Edsel McGinnis
Date: 10/29/04 00:00
Subject: Mykonos Coroner's Inquest - Final Report

Marcus,

I'm afraid the news from here is not good. In my capacity as the attorney representing Metacortechs' shareholders in this matter, I have to advise you to start taking further steps to minimize the company's exposure to liability in this matter. It took nearly a year for the coroner to release his findings, which is not surprising because these sorts of things always take time, and the wheels turn really slowly here. Despite our efforts to compel him not to do so, he decided to get the Mykonos building inspection people involved, and it has gone downhill from there. Of course, these people aren't actually qualified to inspect a structure like the Aquapolis, and I argued that fastidiously, but to no avail. Unfortunately, the coroner took the building inspector's input into account in his report. He quoted him as saying something like (pardon the poor translation): "The Aquapolis is not safe. I wouldn't even send my enemies to sleep there, it's a deYXRodHJhcA==

I'm good for my word Marcus. You've done your part, and I'll do mine: No one else ever needs to know what happened in that room at the Aquapolis.

Makes me think they're talking about Kat. For those who didn't play, she was a Metacortechs employee who drowned at the Aquapolis near the very end of the game. I guess they could be talking about the janitor who died there earlier, or someone else entirely, but that seemed fairly well covered up...I don't know, just spec.

These metadex updates are making me very happy. Mr. Green

WONGMO!!! Awesome.

Wait, the links along the top are to wongmo.org. PMs, you guys didn't hold onto the site, did you? Whois says that Spacebass has it registered, so I'm fairly confused. But, anyway, WONGMO! Eeee eeee eeeee eee!

[edit] It says "A Schuffhausen production" on the bottom of the pic, doesn't it? That's awesome.

Also, google insists that there's no such thing as a Dolpoyevsky, but there's this:

Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821 - 1881), Russian novelist wrote:
It is not the brains that matter most, but that which guides them--the character, the heart, generous qualities, progressive ideas.

Source.

And if you squint...

...something tells me the drawing of the dolphin has either a number or word hidden in it.

So I guess I was on the right track with it being backwards and therefore opposite when I tried
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"DeathGrip" and "DeathHold"
...

Missed it by >that< much.............lol

I think it's all in the pic.........

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
From the source:
<a href="images/dvdbox_enlarge.jpg"></a>

With nothing in between the > <

So i think it's pointing us HERE

Maybe the blue lines spell some letters when you stand on your head
I can make some out....

Might be Red Herring, but

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"The Dolphin" is definitely "within" the dolphin.

Have tried:
"thedolphinwithinthedolphin"
"withinthedolphin"
"inthedolphin"
"thedolphininthedolphin"
"inthedolphininthedolphin"
"inthedolphinwithinthedolphin"
"with" (It's the only part of "The Dolphin Within" that I can't see)

Stegdetect seems to believe there's something hidden with JPHIDE but I tried different passphrases and nothing came up.. could be just a fluke, but that could be what "in the dolphin" means--why else didn't they just use the familiar "inner dolphin" instead of "within the dolphin"..

Jseek on enlarged pic with no passphrase gives this:
Quote:
Wongmo's messages may be hidden deep within but not here. Try again young dolphin.

Hee.

[edit]
So I was trying to figure out what "deYXRodHJhcA==" could mean, and I just got that it was "de" + the rest in base64 = deathtrap. Which I suppose is how Shawn David Struck got the solve. Heh, I'm just posting this in case I'm not the only one slow on this particular uptake. I was all proud of having figured it out, and then...oh.

Can I cry foul?
Very Happy

.........belive me after staring at that forevah! I did try "thedolphin".....why it wouldn't work I have no idea.

Good job Ehsan.

ETA: Okay I guess /thedolphin.html is different than /thedolphin/

Can anyone explain why this is for future ref? (Stuff like this escapes me)
I would never have thought not to put the html part on.

I'll have to sit this one out as extracting anything from sound clips is beyond me.....lol

You might have tried thedolphin.html instead of thedophin/ as a folder? I was stuck on that for a while.. anyway enough with the dolphin anatomy puzzle!

The MP3 has stereo channels.. while the music alternates between left and right, some musical notes are played on the quiet channel. (look at the attached pic)

I cleaned it up and attached the notes.. now it's a matter of figuring out what they are (I don't have much of a musical ear) and then we can solve this one..

[EDIT] Okay I think this is how to solve it:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
At the end of the file there is a series of musical notes in succession.. The interesting thing is there are exactly 26 notes.. which would directly map to 26 letters of the alphabet.. cross referencing the earlier notes with the letter will probably give us our next goal

So I'll go out now and guess this should be solved by the time I'm back!
