I think at the beginning of DTF, the Cupid's Knife is winding down. I think, anyways

Yasmine (paraphrased):
Kamal and Aiden.

A>something about their artistic impression of something.
K>Some more bad things
A>Some more junk
K>And then, after a year or two, they'll fall apart.
A>That takes care of what to do with them afterwards
K>They'll go into total catastrophic cascade failure [glass dropping to the floor].
A>Kamal, you alright?
K>Yasmine.

Alas, as much as we all want JJ to not be dead, I think there is just no way around it.

But remember, JJ did not come alone. I'm convinced that the man on the ground that 'fell on a couple of bullets' is JJ and the girl next to him is Jan, now unconscious. This clip doesn't have the long wind-down, so there must be more after it. From the sounds of it, what's to come is a whole lotta whupass on Thin.
It's probably nothing... But the "damn" sound, if you listen with stereo sound, comes from the left, while J^2 talks from straight ahead/both speakers.
It comes from the left while J^2 saying Jannisary comes off from the right. Also it sounds somewhat lower than J^2. (slightly prolly nothing)

Could be that he has moved?

I assume that "Steve" -- the one they can't raise on the chatter at the beginning of drop_the_floor -- was the "one of my men" that Thin was talking about.

Some random thoughts on today's Jan clips:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
1. Something happens between drop_the_floor and bigger_dog. We're still missing a clip.

2. drop_the_floor must come before five_guys, because Sonar is one of the guys that Thin tells to "drop the floor," but by five_guys Sonar has gone missing.

3. bigger_dog does not have a tape-winding-down sound at the end. Something could still go right. Somehow.

I've been so busy at work, I didn't have the time to keep up today. Thought I'd take a break by catching up on the story. Man, this set is depressing though... I do hope there's a whole squad of Spartan 1.0's around to give Thin his "justice".

it is JJ saying 'damn', just picture him falling through the ceiling, landing on the floor whispering damn to himself, then getting up and saying Janissary, then Brad shoots the net and throws JJ to the left. That's how I picture it.

Re: J^2 isn't dead

Something struck me as odd. Is the sort of gun that you cock (as heard in drop_the_floor) also the sort of gun that you can fire off two shots with as quickly as Thin does in bigger_dog?

I think, in general, yes.

Think of an old-style revolver. You can cock the hammer on those, and you can pull the trigger twice, nice and fast.

Yeah, probably. I don't see why many guns wouldn't be able to... Especially in the future. Then, there's always the aforementioned possibility of 2-3 people shooting him.

EDIT: I seem to remember Thin saying something about an M6... Maybe not, but I thought he did, I'm too lazy to find out for sure. Anyone know what an M6 is, exactly?

The cocking sound may be him chambering a round.

You can cock a double-action automatic. Cocking the weapons just lightens the trigger pull, in my understanding: all you have to do is release the hammer. Otherwise, pulling the trigger will both cock and release the hammer.

I'm still not positive yet whose voices are in five_guys... I'm trying to parallel the characters to decide who's in the room.

there are two guys in five_guys... one could possibly be Thin. They've both moved, so I get a sense they're not in the same spots as the other clips. But the voices/accents just don't seem to be the same as both Thin and Brad...

patiently awaits the next clips

Where is stupid_cop in all of this? He uses Jan, the least he can do is help save her.
