Having been that second crewmember, I'm not sure it would work. I think you'd have to be VERY good at changing your voice. Plus there's the fear that, if you failed, she'd get mad at you, decide she can't trust you and <click>.

Also, if there's a max number of crewmembers they're going to allow, you'd be taking a live call away from some other worthy individual in another part of the country. But how likely is it that there'd be a max number anyway, so go for it. Just make sure you can answer all those phones correctly when the time comes.

I agree w/ Kali: if Melissa realizes you're pulling a fast one, I don't think she'd see that as the action of a dedicated crew member, but more likely one of a conspirator. Furthermore, I'm not sure that adding fictional charaters gains anything (aside from being an interesting experiment w/ AI). You are free to draw your own conclusions, but I think that the reward for teamwork bit refers to increasing ILB visibility (also good fot the META) and fostering community.

As far as getting friends, family, etc involved: GO FOR IT! Teamwork is what brings this to life.

I actually thought of signing Pdk up (seeing as how he helped everyone out with passcodes over the phone) but i didnt get a chance to ask him if it was ok, so i decided i shouldnt do it without his permission. If i get another live call next week, i'm definitely signing another person up (now that i'm crew, i have no need to worry about changing my voice. I just wont mention that i'm already crew). If Pdk wants, i'll sign him up. Otherwise i'm signing up my friend Rob who has caught axons for me on the days i couldnt make it.
