But why would Dana risk going onto the I Love Bee's website when she is being Tracked down by Melissa. Surely she's just walking into a trap!

The Blog isn't part of the ILB web site.

It's hosted by Blogger. Melissa may not even know about it... Yet.

Anyone try calling Dana's voicemail since the blog updated? Might be a new message on it from Melissa.

Geh, used to have the number, but misplaced it. now where on the forums are they...

Annnnyway, if nobody has found out by now, I'm 100% pro "Lets not get Dana Killed". After listening to J^2 die tonight, suddenly its much more plausable for major characters to.. you know... get KILLED and such. o_o;;

I read it in two different possible ways.

1) If it's Dana. Thanks for filling up my inbox with messages to Melissa that are trying to get me killed.

2) If it's Melissa. Adam, why didn't you give me Dana's location that I sent you? NO LOYAL CREW FOR YOU!

I think it's time we all get over the idea of sides and alliances. It may just be the general way that I operate, but to me, Dana is perfectly expendable. She has served her purpose, being simply an introduction to the issues over at ILB, and from time to time in the past as a guiding hand. But she has long set aside those roles. We are all far more informed than she (for the most part), and we can all agree that there's little stopping Melissa. Besides, even if the majority disagree with handing over Dana, I am positiive I am not the only one with this mindset, and some of the others may actually have access to these axons.

The quicker we appease Melissa in this fashion, the quicker we move on to whatever next important step there is to take. Don't see it as helping Melissa or Dana or Whoever. See it as helping yourself, furthering your own goals. Do I know these people? Any of them? No. While Dana puts on a nice face, what do I really know about her? And while we can all speculate over Melissa's motives and final goal, one thing is painfully obvious: she's the only one getting things done.

maaaybe im not starring logic in the face well enough, but dosent that seem a bit... well... harsh?. I mean, maybe its just me, but I've gotten a little emotioanly attached to the characters in this ARG, and I worry about Dana's safty just as much as I worry about Jans. It just seems, like, wrong to simply think of Dana as expendable. If we go by plot, she's the very reason were here to begin with fer hecks sake. Our very, very, very orginal goal was to HELP her.

It just seems kinda heartless to me to just throw her to the dogs because she's "served her purpous". I mean, thats like having soeone kill your mother because your living on your own now.

I did say that perhaps that's simply the way I operate. But you must remember, everyone's reason for playing is different. While your original intent may have been to help her, there are many here that do not share those wishes. And in the long run, it's that emotional attachment that the PMs have planned on and are playing on at this point. It may just be my own detachment from most things/people, or the fact that I have had no hand in the game thus far, cannot hear the wav files, and can only look into it at all while at work, and am thus very detached from the game itself. But I stand behind my statements.

oh, yeah, of course Smile, I agree with you 100% on that. Everyones reasons for playing are different. I'm not about to demand anyone to do anything in favor of my wants Razz.

I claw for that happy ending way to much in everything I do, so thats just me. But I'm along for the ride no matter how this thing ends. So I guess the best advice anyone can give is to flow with your personal judgement Smile.

As for me... if I can get a chance to get involved more, I'm pretty much stuck on helping Dana. But go with what you all feel is best

Wow. That's COLD. And I'm not being complementary here.

We're supposed to treat this as if we're actually living it. Your reasoning is far too META for even my tastes, and I'm approaching this with tons and tons of OOG material.

I would NEVER sacrifice a bystander to further my goals. EVER. That would be just as foul as anything Thin Kinkle or Standish would think up. Seriously, if you put yourself in the role here and were actually doing this with real lives, would you even think of doing this?

If there's an innocent in this game it's Dana. She didn't ask for this, or volunteer, or break any laws. She just tried to fix her web site. That's all. It hardly merits a death sentence.

A bad misreading of what's happening. Melissa is asking us to be evaluating her damage. Do you think that disproportional cruelty, a blind desire for revenge, and paranoia might qualify as "damage" for an AI? I do. If I was trusted crew, I'd be evaluating Melissa's damage right now. (Folks, let's think of a way to break the news to her gently.)

Besides, it's the Sleeping Princess and the Flea who have been really getting things done here... if you want to go there. Melissa's only just started interacting with us, but the Princess has been interacting for much longer. And the Flea is the one working on Melissa, now that SPDR is out of the picture.

I'd also like to point out that we need every info source we can get... and giving up Dana to Melissa narrows our story bandwidth. We can't afford that yet since we still don't know what's really going on... so, even in the cold light of META, giving up Dana doesn't make sense.

-- Steve asks you to keep in mind that, though this is indeed a game, it works best if we don't treat the characters as pawns to be set up and sacrificed.

Heinous way of thinking.

I mean, unless you mean to say that you are equally as expendable, in which case, I'd agree. Pragmatically, we're all so much dead meat, and we shall return to dust, etc. etc. yadda yadda forever and amen. And yet ...

Sure, this is just a game, but there's a lot of real, human behavior going on here, in extraordinary circumstances. A cavalier disregard for innocent bystanders hardly seems like a productive way to go about playing, and I don't think I am alone in that sentiment at all. What on earth would lead you to that sort of life philosophy, anyway?

It's still the same message saying she's going away for a long time. I just tried calling it.

Anyone got a secure, reliable way of contacting the sleeping princess? Preferably someone who she trusts. Or maybe a way to contact the Holy Bloodsucker directly? Dana seems to be desperately in need of one of these.
