I get the impression it's the news or some other information broadcast, there is something about police arresting someone, and I think after that another news item about a pay dispute deal in Ohio.

Maybe the "On this day" is referring to the news in history, like a famous events that happened today?

I'm thinking it's most likely archeive sound either way. The only significance I can find is [SPEC] maybe it has a link to the date/time puzzle that was seen not long ago (The BEEWITHH.gif puzzle - FIRST HUMAN HEART TRANSPLANT, ASSASSINATION, 44 B.C etc.) which required the identification of specific dates in history. [/SPEC]

Ideas?

 		I did some additional processing on the you_owe_me.wav file to try to get snippets of the background text out. Some of it is pretty garbled, but my best guess is:

"for a great splash...
______
about 38 miles in front of us _____
assisting these (interrupts?) today in a white ______
has been arrested by the {mounted/nazi} police.
Akron, Ohio:
______
Auto plant here was (called on?) today ___
when CIO workers agreed on a ______ (6 percent?)
raise in pay."


The 'akron, ohio" part is like a dateline. I did some googling and could not find these particular events, like a CIO dispute at an auto plant in ohio.
